New solar PV system connection Application form This form is to assist in the effective installation of direct connected solar PV systems only. It applies to all systems connection to the Rio Tinto Utilites network. Assistance from an electrical contractor in completing this form is recommended. For commercial systems greater than 5kW this assistance is mandatory. All systems shall comply with the current Australian standards and codes of practice in relation to PV systems. No rebate (Feed in Tariff) shall be provided for exported energy to the Rio Tinto Utilites network. CONDITIONS FOR INSTALLATION The installation must comply with all the below conditions to be eligible for the connection process. If any condition is not met the system cannot be installed without being assessed and approved by Rio Tinto Utilities Services. Customer • Residential customer/commercial/multi residential. • Customer is the electricity account holder for this property. • PV supplier has an agreement with the customer to install the system. Property • Property is in the Pilbara region including the townships of Dampier, Wickham, Pannawonica, Tom Price and Paraburdoo. • The property has an existing approved appropriate meter installed, or arrangement has been made to install a approved appropriate meter before connection of the PV system (The customer must advise their Rio Tinto Utilities Services of their intent to connect generation and the Rio Tinto Utilities Services will arrange for any necessary change to metering. • No existing generation on property is connected to the Rio Tinto network. • Supply to property after installation of system is within Rio Tinto standard supply. System • Must be a photovoltaic (PV) system. • Residential PV system capacity shall not exceed 5kW. • Commercial PV systems shall be approved on a case by case basis • PV system is on the current Rio Tinto authorised PV system list. • PV system must have no energy storage connected (i.e. no batteries).
* Please note that charges may apply to replacement meters which don’t comply with requirements Preliminary and completion notices • The electrical contractor shall submit the preliminary and completion notices to the Network Operator. This application is not a substitute for the submission of these notices. Safety Certificates • All safety certificates to be issued to the purchaser/applicant. System compliance • Rio Tinto requires the system to comply with the following: • AS 4777 parts 1, 2 and 3 • AS/NZS 3100 • AS/NZS 3000 • Rio Tinto’s technical specifications comply with CEC guidelines • The system shall be installed by a qualified licensed PV installer • Commercial units installed will be no greater than 5Kw • Network approval required from Rio Tinto Utilities Services • PV system shall be connected by a licensed electrical contractor.
