Clubhouse News
AUGUST 2016
FROM THE MANAGER, PATRICK DILL It has been a great summer and I truly enjoy seeing all the young families with children enjoying our wonderful Club. I remember being one of those young children enjoying the swimming pool and the golf course years ago. ! ! On that note, I would like to ask all parents to help the Club control the use of the fitness center by young children that are not supposed to be in there. Small children in wet bathing suits playing on the fitness center equipment can get hurt very quickly. And I, for one, don’t want to see any of our young members getting hurt. The rule for the fitness center is as follows: “No Children under the age of 13 are allowed at any time.” Children between ages 13-18 must be accompanied by a parent. Parents, I really appreciate your help in abiding by these rules.! ! After discussion by the Board of Directors
about walking and other activities on the golf course on Monday’s ALL activities including golf practice areas are closed between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm. On Tuesday thru Sunday golf only activities on the golf course between 8:00am and 6:00pm. !
!REMINDERS:
• Shirt tails shall be tucked in at all times while playing golf. ! • When parking, please do not park at the end of parking lot rows as it makes it difficult for cars that are properly parked to back out of their spot.! • Smokers - please respect the appearance of Club property by disposing of cigarette and cigar butts in an ashtray.! • Walkers – please do not use the course for any non-golf purposes, such as walking, jogging, biking and the like between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00pm.
FROM THE PRESIDENT, AREY GRADY Friends, I hope you are having a wonderful summer, and judging by the activity at your Club, we appear to be having a wonderful season! The pool is packed, Thursday nights on the patio are hopping, Camp Barnacle is a wonderful success with the kids, the golf course is in excellent shape, Chef and our kitchen staff are preparing unparalleled meals, and our golf and tennis programs are running at capacity. It’s truly a great time to enjoy our Club, and I hope you are taking full advantage.! I take great pleasure in announcing that we have 48 new Members from our recent membership drive. This success greatly exceeded the Board’s expectations, and I hope you will join me in welcoming our newest Members. As you know, our Membership is the life-blood of our Club, and new Members in these numbers bodes well for our Club’s future. Forty-eight (48) new Members takes the very good financial situation of our Club to an even better position, and your Board expects our new Membership count to allow your Club to continue operating from a position of financial strength.! Please note that our annual meeting is just around the corner, on Tuesday, August 9, at 6:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse. I encourage you to attend in person, or to give your proxy in favor of another Member. We were fortunate to have a quorum of Members for last year’s annual meeting, and your Board appreciates the interest our Members have in the affairs of the Club and the Club’s governance. During the annual meeting, reports will be given from each department of the Club, and the Board and department heads traditionally answer any questions Members may have.! Have a wonderful rest of your summer, and I hope to see you at the Club soon!

Camp Barnacle 2016
!
The Pool staff started a Summer day camp in 2012 and it’s been a big hit every seasons. The kids who sign up become our Campers and our lifeguards become the Counselors at CAMP BARNACLE. Our Campers have loved arts and crafts, river activities, and of course, swimming at the pool! We have done Stand-up paddleboards from Stand up Outfitters, caught lots of fish off the docks and even canoed on the Trent River. We had Italian Ice treats in the hot sun and even played on inflatable water slides. My hands are still different colors from the tie-dyed camp T-shirts!

diehard tennis player and loves the game with all her heart. She has played tennis at a very high level for many years and we hope that will continue for many more. This player is a lefty and if you know anything about left handed tennis players they are always in their right mind and quirky. She is both of these, all in a great way! Have you figured it out yet? Do you know who she is? She is the one and only Mrs. Janet Day. Janet loves tennis and we love her for that. She is always striving to get better and we are happy to help her reach her goals. Keep it up Janet - you are a true treasure to the NBGCC tennis family and we hope all your tennis goals come true.!
Kids Program
!Kids program will be starting soon. We
want to put this on your radar so you can sign up. The after school kids programs will start up as soon as all schools are in session. We will put out the email as soon as school begins. Please let us know if there are any questions.
This class runs every Tuesday night at 7pm and, if there is a need, every Thursday morning at 10am. This class is designed to keep your heart rate in the perfect calorie burning zone. We keep the pace up, with music added, to keep you moving. If you need to take a break, we love to have cheerleaders on the side until you are ready to go again. This is a modified exercise class with tennis to keep you in shape for the winter. We would love to have you out and we always like to remind everyone this is a limited space class.
