Teams are awarded three points for each conference win in regulation or overtime, and one point for an overtime tie. Conference games still tied after a five-minute overtime advance to a three-player shootout with the team that wins the shootout receiving an extra point in the standings (SW in the standings). A shootout win then is worth two points in the standings while the team that loses the shootout receives just one point for the tie. Teams will play a 24-game league schedule. *Minnesota Duluth wins head-to-head tiebreaker with Western Michigan.

NCAA Tournament Notes
• NCHC teams went 2-1 in NCAA Tournament play Saturday with both North Dakota and St. Cloud State picking up overtime wins. The NCHC is now 3-1 in the NCAA Tournament this year, with its .750 winning percentage the best of any conference in the Tournament. Hockey East (3-3), the ECAC (2-2) and the Big Ten (1-1) are all at .500 in the NCAA Tournament while the WCHA (1-2) and Atlantic Hockey (0-1) finished the Tournament below .500. • North Dakota became the first NCHC team to make the NCAA Frozen Four with its double-overtime win over Ferris State in the Midwest Regional Championship. UND will be making its 20th Frozen Four appearance all-time and first since 2011. The game, which lasted 81:28, was the longest NCAA Tournament game in North Dakota history. • Junior forward Connor Gaarder scored the game-winning goal for UND 1:28 into the second overtime on his only shot on goal of the game. He was named to the All-Midwest Region Team, along with freshman defenseman Paul LaDue, who had the primary assist on both UND goals in Saturday’s win, and sophomore forward Rocco Grimaldi, who had a hat trick in Friday’s regional semifinal win over Wisconsin. • UND sophomore goaltender Zane Gothberg made a career-high 44 saves in the win, including 14 in the first overtime. He topped his previous career best of 37 from March 8, 2013 vs. Minnesota State. • St. Cloud State was also victorious in one overtime Saturday, advancing to Sunday’s West Regional Championship with a win over Notre Dame. SCSU moves on to its second straight regional final after also defeating Notre Dame in last year’s first round en route to its only Frozen Four berth. SCSU made just its third regional final ever in Division I, as the Huskies are 1-1 all-time in regional finals, falling in 2010. • St. Cloud State faces top-seeded Minnesota in the West Regional final, looking to make its second straight and second ever Frozen Four. With a win, the NCHC would be the only conference with multiple teams in the Frozen Four. SCSU went 0-1-0 against Big Ten teams this year, with the loss coming to Minnesota, 4-1, on Jan. 24 in the same building as Sunday’s game (Xcel Energy Center) during the North Star College Cup. The NCHC is 10-7-1 vs. the Big Ten this season. • Senior forward and Hobey Baker Award finalist Nic Dowd scored the game-winning goal for the Huskies in overtime, giving him a team-best 22 goals on the season. He now has a goal in four straight games and has seven points during his current five-game point streak. • Although Denver fell to Boston College in the first round, both of the Pioneers’ goals were scored by freshmen as forwards Trevor Moore and Evan Janssen found the back of the net. DU finished with its 13th straight 20-win season, the longest active streak in the NCAA.
Saturday Recaps Saturday, March 29 No. 13 NORTH DAKOTA 2, No. 6 FERRIS STATE 1 (2OT) NCAA Midwest Regional Championship CINCINNATI – Junior forward Connor Gaarder scored 1:28 into the second overtime to give No. 13/13 North Dakota a 2-1 win over No. 6/6 Ferris State Saturday night in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship game at U.S. Bank Arena as UND clinched a spot in its 20th NCAA Frozen Four in program history. Fourth-seeded North Dakota (25-13-3) becomes the first NCHC team to make the NCAA Frozen Four and will be playing for its eighth national title in program history, while the second-seeded Bulldogs (29-11-3) saw their season come to a close. Sophomore forward Rocco Grimaldi, who had a hat trick in Friday’s win over Wisconsin, was named MVP of the Midwest Regional, while he was joined by Gaarder and freshman defenseman Paul LaDue on the All-Midwest Region Team from North Dakota. The game started slowly as neither team found the back of the net in the first period, despite a 12-8 edge in shots on goal for UND. In the second period, freshman forward Luke Johnson rang a shot off the crossbar early in the second stanza, before Cory Kane broke the deadlock when his shot from the slot squeaked between sophomore goaltender Zane Gothberg’s five-hole to put FSU ahead, 1-0, 7:31 into the period. North Dakota answered back just over three minutes later when LaDue fired a blast from the point on the power play that was deflected by junior forward Stephane Pattyn in front of net to knot the game at 1-1. In the third period, Ferris State took control of the game, putting 12 shots on goal to UND’s two, but Gothberg turned all of them aside, including three on a Bulldog power play. North Dakota had three power play chances in the frame, but managed just one shot with the man advantage. In the first overtime, both sides had quality chances in front of net but again Gothberg was up to the task with 14 more saves, while C.J. Motte stopped all six UND shots in the extra session for FSU. North Dakota wasted little time grabbing the win in the second overtime, however, as junior defenseman Nick Mattson, who assisted on both goals, worked the puck to LaDue, who put the puck on net, where Gaarder poked home the rebound to advance UND to the Frozen Four. LaDue also finished with two helpers on the night. Gothberg totaled a career-high 44 saves to backstop North Dakota to the win, as the Bulldogs outshot UND, 45-26, on the night. Motte finished with 24 saves in defeat for FSU. UND finished 1-for-6 on the power play while killing all five Ferris State power plays. North Dakota will face the winner of the West Regional in the National Semifinals on Thursday, April 10 in the Frozen Four at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The time will either be 5 or 8:30 p.m. ET and will be televised live on ESPN2.
No. 8 ST. CLOUD STATE 4, No. 9 NOTRE DAME 3 (OT) NCAA West Regional Semifinal ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior forward Nic Dowd scored with 2:39 remaining in overtime to lift No. 8/8 St. Cloud State to a 4-3 victory over No. 9/9 Notre Dame Saturday night in the second semifinal of the NCAA West Regional at the Xcel Energy Center. With the win, third-seeded SCSU (22-10-5) advanced to Sunday’s regional final against Minnesota for a trip to the Frozen Four, while second-seeded UND to a close. Sophomore forward Jonny Brodzinski carried the Huskies offensively with a goal and an assist, while classmate Kalle Kossila dished out two helpers. The contest was a back-and-forth affair that was never led by Notre Dame, though they answered every time SCSU found the back of the net. Freshman forward Ryan Papa opened the scoring 6:54 into the game, finishing some nice feeds from Kossila and Brodzinski with a one-timer on the back door. Bryan Rust pulled the Fighting Irish even with 9:30 left in the first frame, but with just 34.9 ticks left in the
2
period, junior forward Brooks Bertsch regained the lead for the Huskies, cleaning up a shot by senior forward Cory Thorson to make it 2-1 after 20 minutes. Once again Notre Dame tied the game when Kevin Lind scored 8:18 into the second stanza. Like the first period, however, SCSU struck in the final minute of the period to take a lead as Brodzinski fired a laser on the power play with just 25 ticks on the clock to put the Huskies back ahead, 3-2. Despite the lead after 40 minutes, UND outshot SCSU, 184, in the middle period. The third period wasn’t much different as Thomas DiPauli again leveled the game for Notre Dame 9:35 into the frame at 3-3. The Fighting Irish kept the pressure on with a 9-2 shot advantage over the final full period, holding the Huskies without a shot on goal for nearly the first 15 minutes of the stanza, but the game was still tied 3-3 after 60 minutes. St. Cloud State flipped the switch in overtime, putting 16 shots on goal after managing just 12 during all of regulation. The final shot was a blast by Dowd from the left circle that beat UND netminder Steven Summerhays top shelf off a feed from sophomore forward David Morley to give the Huskies the 4-3 win and advance SCSU to the regional championship. Despite the loss, Notre Dame finished with a 42-28 edge in shots on goal, including 36-12 in regulation, but junior goaltender Ryan Faragher stopped 39 shots, including all six in the extra session, to earn the win in net for the Huskies. Summerhays totaled 24 saves in defeat, including 15 in overtime, for the Irish. SCSU finished 1-for-5 on the power play while killing UND’s only man advantage of the game in the second stanza. St. Cloud State next battles in-state rival No. 1/2 Minnesota, the top seed in the region, in the West Regional championship Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be shown live on ESPNU with the winner advancing to the NCAA Frozen Four.
No. 3 BOSTON COLLEGE 6, No. 17 DENVER 2 NCAA Northeast Regional Semifinal WORCESTER, Mass. – Boston College junior forward Johnny Gaudreau recorded a hat trick and No. 3/3 BC struck three times in the first 10 minutes to dispatch No. 17 Denver, 6-2, Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Northeast Regional semifinals at the DCU Center. With the loss, the fourth-seeded Pioneers’ (20-16-6) season ends in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, while the top-seeded Eagles (27-7-4) advanced to Sunday’s regional championship game. Gaudreau, who finished with six points, having a hand in every BC tally, wasted little time getting on the board as he scored just 25 ticks into the game on a back-hander. Kevin Hayes assisted on the goal for one of his four points (two goals, two assists) in the contest. Hayes then scored his first goal of the afternoon 5:30 into the game as he weaved through the DU defense and beat senior netminder Sam Brittain to make it 2-0. Gaudreau, who also had three assists, notched his second tally of the night 4:34 later on a wrap-around to cap the 3-0 first-period outburst. The second period didn’t go much better for the Pioneers as Hayes struck a second time 5:29 into the stanza while Gaudreau completed his hat trick 8:13 into the middle frame to make it 5-0 Eagles. Bill Arnold, who also had two assists in the win, scored his lone goal of the night with 4:25 left in the period to complete BC’s scoring with Hayes and Gaudreau assisting. In the final minute of the second period, Denver broke up the shutout as freshman forward Trevor Moore found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 6-1. In the third period, the Pioneers were able to outshot BC, 11-7, but it was too little, too late. Fellow freshman forward Evan Janssen was able to redirect a shot from classmate Emil Romig in the closing seconds of the game for the period’s only goal, making the final score 6-2. The Eagles finished with a 33-20 edge in shots on goal, including 26-9 over the first 40 minutes. Brittain, a finalist for the Mike Richter Award, stopped 20 shots in his final game for the Pioneers while playing the first two periods before giving way to freshman Evan Cowley, who

Saturday Recaps/Non-Conference Breakdown stopped all seven BC shots he faced in the final frame. Thatcher Demko made 18 saves to get the win in net for the Eagles. The teams went a combined 0-for-7 on the power play, including Denver going 0-for-5. The Pioneers made the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight year, while also posting their 13th straight 20-win season, the longest active streak in the NCAA, en route to winning the inaugural NCHC Frozen Faceoff and Tournament title. Boston College, meanwhile, faces either UMass Lowell or Minnesota State in Sunday’s Northeast Regional final with a spot in the Frozen Four on the line.
