Natural stone from Lundhs Lundhs has a wide range of natural stone from own quarries in Norway, and from Palin Granit’s quarries in Finland. Lundhs is responsible for marketing and sales of Palin Granit’s products. Our materials make an excellent choice for countertops, tiles, cladding, shop fronts, interior decoration and monuments. Lundhs’ stones mainly come in shades of blue, and materials from Palin Granit mostly are brown or red. Natural stone from our quarries Lundhs’ quarrying traditions go more than 100 years back, and ensures stability, reliability, and quality for all our customers. Most of our quarries are located in the area around Larvik. We also have a quarry in Sirevåg (Lundhs Antique), and in Ukraine (Lundhs Aurora). We supply a wide range of top-quality Larvikite and Anorthosite. With advanced technology and unique stone resources, we are a competitive and experienced actor in the international stone trade. Lundhs is the largest producer and distributor of rough granite blocks in Northern Europe.

Natural stone from Palin Granit’s quarries Palin Granit is a producer of top-quality Finnish granite. This successful family company is founded on time-honoured traditions, competent personnel, high quality, and guaranteed availability of the materials. The quarries are located mostly around Lappeenranta in South-Eastern Finland, but there are also some quarries in the South-Western Finland, close to Turku. Lundhs is responsible for marketing and sales of Palin Granit’s products.

Lundhs Blue

Lundhs Blue is known as the original Blue Pearl, characterised by its medium-sized blue feldspar crystals. Lundhs has several quarries in the Blue Pearl area, and GT and NC are the most famous. This material has a wide range of use in areas like countertops, flooring, shop fronts, monuments and cladding.

Lundhs Emerald

Lundhs Emerald is the original Emerald Pearl, with a distinct appearance of lustrous blue crystals and dark background. It is among the worlds most popular granites for countertops. It is also typically used for interior decoration of floors, walls, and stairs in hotels, banks, exclusive shops, private homes, and airports.

Lundhs Marina is characterised by large steel-blue feldspar crystals. The material is exclusively produced by Lundhs. With large crystals and homogenous colour, it is a material with little limitation regarding areas of use. Popular for interior and exterior decoration as well as monuments.

Lundhs Royal

Lundhs Royal has large crystals and bright blue colour. The material is exclusively produced by Lundhs. It has many areas of use, and has successfully been used in cladding and exterior decoration of high rise buildings. Also popular as countertops or monuments. It has a competitive pricing range, and is accessible to a wide range of users.

Lundhs Antique

TM

Lundhs Antique has a unique compound of clear blue/purple crystals on brown background. Previous trading name for this material was Labrador Antique. The material has become a popular choice for countertops, bar-tops and tables. It is also a very suitable material for flooring and different kinds of interior decoration.

Lundhs Ocean

Lundhs Ocean has a grey-green background with small bluish feldspar crystals. We recommend this material for both interior and exterior use. Lundhs Ocean is suitable for use as cladding, tiles and shop fronts. It is a very homogenous material with uniform colour and crystals.

Lundhs Aurora

Lundhs Aurora is an Anorthosite and is quarried in Ukraine. Of many Ukranian anorthosites, Lundhs Aurora is regarded to be the kind with the darkest background color and highest density of big blue crystals.

Palin Granit´s quarry no 12, Baltic Brown, located in Ylämaa, Finland.

Baltic Brown Baltic Brown is a brown, coarse-grained granite, extracted from three quarries located in the Ylämaa area. This material is quarried in very large quantities, which makes it ideal for large-scale building projects. Baltic Brown is also a popular material for tabletops and floors.

Baltic Green Baltic Green is a dense, deep green stone with rounded grains, quarried in Ylämaa. It is well suited for interior decoration, monuments and small to mid-size building projects. The stone maintains its spectacular colour, even in outdoor conditions.

Balmoral Red The original Balmoral Red is an international classic that has been quarried in SouthWest Finland for several decades. This small/medium grain size material is quarried in medium quantities. Balmoral Red is suitable for all kinds of use from building projects to interior decoration, tiles, and monuments.

Karelia Red Karelia Red, one of the Finnish classics, is extracted from Virolahti. It is a medium large grain size material suitable for building purposes and monuments.

Aurora Aurora is a fine-grained, black-red multicolor type granite, quarried in Mäntsälä. The material is quarried in medium quantities and is suitable for monuments and decorations as well as tiles.

Size, quality and colour On this side you will find a description for how Palin Granit and Lundhs classify their blocks according to size, quality and colour. This classification is according to the pricelist for all Palin Granit and Lundhs materials.

Size categorization Lundhs and Palin Granit have the same categorization of block sizes from Cat. 1 to Cat. 5. The price of each block is determined by all these factors combined. Category 1: Category 2: Category 3: Category 4: Category 5:

Blocks with length up to 179 cm x free height. Blocks with length between 180-239 cm x free height. Blocks with length from 240 cm x height below 120 cm. Blocks with length between 240-269 cm x height from 120 cm. Blocks with length from 270 cm x height from 120 cm.

Palin Granit

Quality and colour classification per material: Balmoral Red PG-super is the most red. PG-quality is the classical Balmoral colour. PGK-quality is lighter in colour than PG. LI-quality is the lightest colour. PF-quality is selected PG-super or PG but with additional comments. Building-quality has the same colour as PG-super and PG but with max. to veins. 2nd Choice may contain defects such as veins, ‘black smoke’, spots, cracks and colour variation within the block. Baltic Brown DE/Extra-quality has extra dark brown colour. D/Classic-quality has dark brown colour. M-quality has medium brown colour. Building/AV-quality has same colour as DE/D/M but with some minor defects. 2nd Choice has colour variations, two-colour blocks that may contain defects such as small cracks, spot, carrots, cracks in the sawing direction, open structur. Eagle Red Eagle Red quality has good and uniform colour. M-quality has lighter colour. 2nd Choice has colour variations, two-coloured blocks. Eagle Red Rosso (Rosso Marina) has small brown dots appearing evenly. Baltic Green Baltic Green quality has uniform colour and no defects. Building-quality has 5-15 % brownish tone in colour and/or one black line. 2nd Choice may have colour variations, open structure, brownish tone over 15% of the block. Karelia Red/Carmen Red Karelia Red quality is medium large grain size, most compact in structure, uniform dark red colour. M-quality has lighter colour. Carmen Red quality is large grain size, uniform red colour. 2nd Choice is two-coloured blocks that may contain cracks in the sawing direction, colour veins and/or spots. Aurora Aurora quality has red and black blazes on dark grey base, also available in a lighter colour. 1st Choice may have small cracks. Building-quality has some minor defects. 2nd Choice has varieties of defects.

General quality levels The quality classification is an indication of what kind of defects can be expected. Reclamations will not be accepted on 2nd and 3rd Choice blocks. This classification is used on all our materials except Lundhs Royal.

1st Choice: Blocks without any defect.

2nd Choice Extra Fine: A small defect in the cutting direction or across a corner. The drawing of the block is an illustration of a possible defect for this quality.

2nd Choice: One defect going more across the cutting direction. The drawing of the block is an illustration of a possible defect for this quality. 3rd Choice: Two defects going more across the cutting direction. The drawing of the block is an illustration of a possible defect for this quality.

2nd Choice Selected: Somewhat open structure, a minor defect across a corner or a defect on one side of the block. The drawing of the block is an illustration of a possible defect for this quality.

It is important to be aware of the difference between colour and quality classification used on Lundhs Blue, Emerald and Royal: Lundhs Blue HQ Classic

Dark background and blue crystals, the Lundhs Blue with best colour. Slightly lighter background and less blue appearance.

The darkest black background, and lustrous blue crystals. Slightly lighter in the background colour. Slightly lighter in the background colour, less blue crystals and less black.

Bright blue crystals and uniform colour. Slightly lighter in the background colour, lighter blue crystals.

Classification for Lundhs Antique HQ Crystals spread Some black thin veins and/or a few red/brownish veins Possibly small cracks in the corner. 2nd Choice Extra Fine The same as HQ, but to a certain extent more of the problems mentioned above and/or green veins. 2nd Choice In general more of the problems mentioned above. 3rd Choice In general as 2nd Choice but with more of the problems typical for 2nd Choice.

How to get to Lundhs, Larvik By plane: Larvik is located 75 miles/120 kilometres south of Norway’s capital Oslo. It is easy to travel to Larvik by road from either Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL) (approx. 2,5 hours - www.osl.no) or Sandefjord Torp Airport (TRF) (approx. 20 minutes - www.torp.no). Sandefjord Torp Airport offers regular connections to: Amsterdam, London Stansted, Liverpool, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin, Bremen, Frankfurt, Rome, Pisa, Milan, Sardinia, Sicily, Bologna, Marseille, Barcelona, Alicante, Krakow, Lódz, Katowice, Warsaw, Gdansk, Poznan, Kiev and Prague. By ferry The Colorline Superspeed ferry 2 makes the trip from Hirtshals in Denmark to Larvik in 3 hours 45 minutes (www.colorline.no). By car To get to Lundhs office, follow highway E18 to Larvik. Take the Larvik west (Vest) exit, and follow the road to Larvik. Turn right under the railway bridge (traffic lights) and turn right in the second roundabout. You will then find us in the first building on your left hand side.

Where to stay? Hotel Farris Bad: with one “foot” on land and one in the sea, both location and architecture is fabulous. Inside you will find that stone from Lundhs plays an important part of a stylish, modern interior. We cannot recommend a hotel more suited when you visit Lundhs.
