NPCC

NPCC is a public joint stock company owned by the General Holding Corporation (GHC) and the Consolidated Contractors Group (CCC). While the GHC holds 70 per cent of the stake, CCC holds the remaining 30 per cent. The Abu Dhabi-based National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) has emerged as a prominent organisation in the construction sector of the region’s multi-billion oil and gas industry. The company provides total engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the development of onshore and offshore oil and gas fields in the Arabian Gulf and in several other parts of the globe, such as Indian Subcontinent, South East Asia and the Middle East.

NPCC Today

NPCC has steadily marched forward and emerged as one of the leading EPC contractors in the onshore and offshore oil and gas sector. Its present state-of-the-art facilities are located in Mussafah (Abu Dhabi Industrial city) and occupy an area of over one million sq m. The company has forged relationships with most of the major international oil companies based on its proven track record of trust, dependability, quality, safety and customer satisfaction. The new yard is capable of fabricating 70,000 tonnes of structural steel per year. NPCC employs around 10,000 staff and labourers.

NPCC Clientele

In addition to its achievements in the domestic market, NPCC has also entered into the international market. Over the years, NPCC has successfully completed several major and significant EPC projects from the global market. NPCC’s clients in Qatar include Qatar Petroleum (QP), Qatar Liquefied Gas Company (QATARGAS), Total Exploration & Production, Maersk Oil Qatar (MAERSK) and, Occidental Petroleum of Qatar (Oxy). In Saudi Arabia the NPCC’s clients include Saudi Arabian American Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and Al Khafji Joint Operations (AGOC/AOC), while in Kuwait both Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) are its clients. India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is a major client of NPCC. India is a vast developing nation with abundant market potential.

Engineering In 1992, NPCC expanded its engineering capability for designing onshore and offshore facilities. At present, NPCC has over 450 dedicated engineering staff to support its operations. The design team is fully equipped with state-ofthe-art computers and software to meet engineering challenges. Encouraged by the success in Indian oil and gas sector, NPCC in the year 2007 established an engineering subsidiary in Mumbai viz “NPCC Engineering Limited (NEL)” in local partnership with Arcadia Shipping Limited, which has been associated with NPCC since beginning of their Indian business ventures. In this direction, NEL is already a successful venture and become a house-hold name in India. NEL’s Mumbai office is directly linked to NPCC main office in Abu Dhabi via satellite communication link and the latest softwares. Thus, with the establishment of NEL as its subsidiary in India, which is an extended arm of engineering division of NPCC, NPCC has an added advantage to serve the clientele from India and Gulf regions more efficiently.

Onshore Activities NPCC started into building of storage tanks and spheres in 1986 with the objective of serving the petrochemical industry better. The tanks and spheres were for storing various types of petroleum products such as liquid sulphur, water, diesel oil, crude oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

A modern facility for fabrication of pressure vessels was launched by NPCC at Mussafah in 1996. This facility is capable of manufacturing pressure vessels of varying thickness up to 160 millimeters by hot rolling and 100 millimeters by cold rolling which totals 6,000 tonnes per annum.
