What the HEART is going on? By Vivian Haitsuka Atlas, along with Kaiser, participated in the Zippy’s Wellness Challenge from September to November. There were several challenges that each company participated in: Walking, Commercial, Smoothie and Audience Participation. Thank you, Myles, for letting Atlas participate in the Zippy’s Wellness Challenge—we had fun while getting healthy! Thank you, Mark Maruyama, for donating the $350 “entry” fee which we used to make lucky number gift bags for the Zippy’s event last month. Thank you to all the people that came to the Zippy’s event—we hope you had a good time!

What the HEART is going on?, cont. ZIPPY’S CHALLENGE #2: COMMERCIAL Thank you to our Commercial team. Peter re-wrote the lyrics to the song, ‘At Last’, originally sung by Etta James—you had to listen to closely to the health-related lyrics that Peter wrote—and that Chenise sang so beautifully!

ZIPPY’S CHALLENGE #3: SMOOTHIE CHALLENGE Thank you to our Smoothie team—although we did not win, our team was the only one that used veggies in our smoothie AND Miss Chinatown picked our smoothie AND we had Iron Chef Curtis (Sharilyn’s husband)! Zippy’s won this event with 2 judges picking their smoothie.

Welcome, Piper! By Richard Fukeda We are happy to welcome Piper O’Hara to the Atlas Insurance ohana! Piper joins Atlas as an Account Manager in the Commercial Lines Department. Originally from Loma Rica, California; Piper came to Hawaii to attend the University of Hawaii. She loved living in Hawaii so much so, that she decided to remain in Hawaii after her graduation. During her free time, she enjoys the outdoors – hiking and camping. When asked about joining Atlas Insurance, she exclaimed, “I’m excited to join the Atlas team!” Please join me in welcoming Piper O’Hara to Atlas Insurance!

Welcome, John! By Kari Yamada We are happy to welcome John Smith who has joined Atlas as an Account Administrator. John joins us from Dongbu Insurance where he was previously an underwriter assistant in the personal lines department. He is a graduate of UH West Oahu where he earned his degree in Business Finance and is working to complete his certificate in Risk Management. In his free time, John enjoys surfing, playing basketball and telling jokes. Watch out Richard, we have another comedian! Please welcome John to our Atlas Ohana!

Welcome, Lucia! By Steve Pang I’m pleased to announce the hiring of our new Claims Consultant, Lucia Keane. Lucia brings years of workers’ compensation claim adjusting experience and has been an adjuster for many of our large in-house/ commercial clients, which I’ve had the privilege of working side by side with her. Her previous employment included; John Mullen & Company, Island Insurance and Adjusting Services of Hawaii. She is well respected in the insurance industry and will be a valuable contributor to our consulting unit. Please help me welcome Lucia to our Atlas Ohana!

21st Annual Men’s March Against Domestic Violence Looks as though we have some real men who were willing to walk against domestic violence! They walked the talk and took a stand at the State Capitol Rotunda along with others in the community. Thank you to those who participated!
