Fractions of this thermal comfort are what are perceived when worn in the water. Each of the values are below 1.0 because water transfers heat out of the body 25 times faster than air.

GETTING SEEN IN A RESCUE – WHAT COLOR IS BEST? Prior to a recent study conducted by Mustang Survival, there was no research on the science of non-reflective conspicuity and the effects of color on conspicuity conducted in marine environments. The most recent Canadian standards prescribe Pantone colors (Orange, Red, and Yellow) for Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) and Immersion Suits. Notably missing was high visibility American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved colors which have been mandated on construction sites and within the Public Safety Community throughout North America.

STEP 1 For accurate measurements, please refer to the measurement diagram and instructions provided. All measurements should be taken with a ”tailors” (flexible) tape while wearing garments and armour usually worn under the dry suit. DESCRIPTION
PROCEDURE

Chest
Measure the horizontal circumference around the chest at maximum girth. For males, this is typically where the tape runs under the armpits at the scye. For females, this is at the bustline.

Waist
Measure the horizontal circumference around the waist (belt) line.

Hips
Measure the horizontal circumference around the hips and buttock at maximum girth.

Sleeve
With your arms horizontal, bent at the elbows, and with your fists touching knuckle-to-knuckle out from the chest, measure the distance from the center of the back along the outside of the arm to the outer tip of the wrist.

Inseam
Measure the vertical distance from the crotch to the floor. Use a book pressed firmly up between the legs and measure from the top of the book.

Making a glove that not only protects your hand and fingers but also helps you perform better was no easy challenge. Fortunately testing the glove was a bit easier and the results were clear.
DEXTERITY TEST
GRIP TEST
The 9-hole peg board test was used to measure the thumb and first finger’s fine dexterity. The time to place all pegs in their holes and then remove them was measured. The test subjects did the test without and then with the right glove. With the fingerless glove, all subjects had better dexterity than without the glove (12% faster with glove).
Standard grip tests for gloves exist but we wanted to take that one step further and test torque as it applies to use with a fishing rod. The R&D team at Mustang Survival developed a system to do just that and with each glove, they saw a 30-50% grip improvement with the glove on over the bare hand test.
