Chatham-Kent Public Library 2010 Annual Report

This report is for the information of Council. BACKGROUND The Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) produces an annual report each year to promote the successes of the year and keep the community informed about library activities. COMMENTS Feedback on the Library’s earlier annual reports from Councillors, donors, Library patrons, and staff and trustees from other libraries has been very positive. A total of 500 copies have been produced. They were sent to the Library’s most generous donors and will also be displayed and distributed in all Library locations. One of the CKPL highlights for 2010 was the renovation of the Bothwell Branch, which now has central air and is completely accessible from the entrance to the shelving to the washrooms. The very successful free income tax clinics were hosted for the second year, assisting over 75 low income individuals. Local authors continue to be supported by CKPL with ten different local authors holding book signings across the system. More teens used the Library in 2010 with an increased usage of 6.7% over 2009 in the young adult collections. Copies of the 2010 Library Annual Report have been supplied to the members of Council, as an attachment to this report. CONSULTATION Consultation for this report was not required.
