2 Why Filter Sunglasses and not ordinary sunglases? Most sunglasses have been designed with one priority – they should look trendy. Many manufacturers find that having to make them with UVA and UVB protection too is more of a necessary evil. Otherwise, they could not legally be called sunglasses!
WE THINK THIS IS WRONG. In our opinion, it’s the
optics and their benefit to the user that’s most important. We are not satisfied with simply producing sun protection to conform to legal requirements – we want to meet people’s needs too. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that we have been supplying light protection products for medical professionals for more than 25 years.

What difference will Filter Sunglasses make for you? BETTER VISION IN ALL CONDITIONS What difference will Filter Sunglasses make for you? Det The first thing you notice is that you can see better. Filtering out unwanted light only allows a greater amount of useful light to pass through to your eyes. This means that when you wear Filter Sunglasses, more light reaches your eyes (than when you wear normal sunglasses) and you don’t experience any discomfort. As a result you will see better. To give you an illustration – everything doesn’t turn as black as night when you drive into a tunnel.
EVEN BETTER VISION WHEN YOU NEED IT You choose filter lenses for your Filter Sunglasses, depending on when you’re going to use them. If contrast is important, for example when you’re skiing, a certain part of the light must be allowed to pass through. When you’re driving, it’s important with a different part of the light.
The major difference between filter sunglasses and normal sunglasses is that Filter Sunglasses filter out unwanted light while sunglasses block out part of all light. You could say it’s like comparing high-tech hearing protection, which filters out loud noises but allows you to hear other sounds (Filter Sunglasses), with hearing protection that dampens all sound (sun glasses). What’s more, when you’re wearing Filter Sunglasses, you can choose which light you want to filter out (in other words, choose which light is “unpleasant noise”). And that’s extremely important. Everyone has their own experience of what constitutes a nuisance.
GLARE REDUCTION Al All our Filter Sunglasses include a standard polarizing layer, which reduces bothersome glare and reflections. However, if you for some reasons don’t want to eliminate glare you can of course choose non-polarized filter lenses. Once again, it’s all about choosing which “noise” you want to block out!
OPTICS ACCORDING TO REQUIREMENTS Our 25 years of working with optics, light, filters and eyes have equipped us with an in-depth understanding of how different people have different needs when it comes to optics. That’s why all of our Filter Sunglasses are available in three classes, depending on visual sensitivity and requirements.

Filter sunglasses POLARIZING LENSES For outdoor use the best solution is to combine a ML Filter lens with a polarizing layer. We have seven different polarization layers available, whereof Pol 1 Grey and Pol 3 Grey are possible to combine with our ML Filters: Pol 1 Grey (light) 65% absorption,is available as Plano, Single Vision and D28.*
PHOTOCHROMATIC LENSES Filters also available with photochromatic Transition V coat ing. This coating varies from a light shade of brown (10%) to dark (75-80% approx.) within 1 min. (times subject to variation depending on temperature). Filter effect remains unchanged. Photochromatic lenses are supplied with ML Dura as standard.
Pol 3 Grey (dark) 85% absorption, is available as Plano, Single Vision and Multifocals. Pol Brown 81% absorption, is available as Plano, Single Vision and Multifocals. Pol G15 85% absorption, is available as Plano, Single Vision and Multifocals. The curves for the above polarization layers could be found in diagram 3. Examples of the 2 layers of grey polarization in combination with ML Filters are presented in diagram 4 and 5.
Pol B 90% absorption, is a brown polarized lens in TAC material only available as plano. Pol G 80% absorption, is a grey polarized lens in TAC material only available as plano. Pol Y 75% absorption, is a yellow polarized lens in TAC material only available as plano. The curves for the 3 polarization layers above could be found in diagram 6.

Drivewear is a polarizing photochromatic lens, which darkens inside your car’s windscreen. Previous attempts at combining photochromatic lenses with polarized ones failed, because they were not made to work together. Drivewear lenses combine both systems intelligently, so they reinforce one another’s good characteristics. Drivewear lenses are compatible with most types of AR treatment and can be combined with C1 filter.

Filter sunglasses
ML Filter and lens material Index 1.5, CR39 -All ML Filters are available with this lens material. The main advantages are its wide range of powers, high optical quality and stable tinting performance. Index 1.6, MR-8 - If you chose to have prescription lenses in your filter sunglasses, you can have them in index 1.6 material. The main advantage is a thinner lens. PM – A molded 2,0 mm plano lens in Polyamid. Available in most ML Filters and with Pol 1 Grey. The main advantag es are its durability and filter stability. Also, because it is a molded lens it has a lower price than a corresponding CR39 lens. TAC – A pressed 1,0 mm plano lens in Triacetate. The main advantage is its competitive price.
ANTI-REFLEX TRETMENT All our sunglasses is possible to get with 3 different versions of anti-reflex coating, ML Prima+, ML Prima, ML Prima Sun and Ml Dura
different levels of visual sensitivity All filter sunglasses are grouped into different categories called levels of visual sensitivity to make it easier to select the most suitable ML Filters for different users. The levels are defined as follows: Visual sensitivity level 1 Level 1 is for people with normal vision but who need better protection from the sun than standard sunglasses can provide. The polarizing layer effectively eliminates reflections and glare. This category includes all standard products with TAC lenses. Visual sensitivity level 2 Level 2 is suitable for users who require a high level of protection from the sun or are bothered more than usual by light. At this level, the lenses filter out light under certain wavelengths far more effectively, which blocks the high-energy, damaging blue light to varying degrees. This category includes all standard products with PM lenses. Visual sensitivity level 3 Level 3 is suitable for people who require extremely high optical and imaging performance.ML Prima Suns is always standard for the products in this category.
ML Prima+
the very latest in Coating technology. Increased transmission, more than 35% improved scratch resistance, an antistatic layer which significantly reduces dust and spots and finally the satin layer that gives the lens such a slippery surface (more than 10 times untreated) that it will be cleaned with just one stroke with the cloth.
ML Prima
Our well known basic treatment. A very good multicoat including the upgraded ML Dura, high transmission and the top layer Aqua-coat that reduces the effect of dust and water.
ML Prima Sun
A treatment designed for sunglasses. Both front and back surface have the ML Dura treatment for increased protection against tear and wear. The back side has the ML Prima (Prima+ on higher indexes) treatment to increase the comfort and to reduce the annoying reflexes on the inside of dark sunglasses.
ML Dura
Our hard lacquer for improved scratch resistance and optical quality. Now improved with more than 35%. Both sides of the lens are always treated.
POWER IN OUR FILTER SUNGLASES
All our filter sunglasses is compatible with prescription lenses. For each pair of filter sunglasses, we have indicated the powers we can do without any special grinding. If a stronger prescription is needed than indicated for a frame, we are in most cases able to produce that with special grinding technics. If stronger prescriptions are needed, please contact us and we will find a suitable solution.

ML filter biocover ML Filter BIOCOVER is designed to be used together with a normal pair of glasses. It has Multilens quality filter and the frame is made of polycarbonate making it light and strong. The colour is matte black and it comes in three sizes (Small, Medium and Large), making it suitable for most people and most type of glasses. CLIP – ON FLIP Our clip-on flip filters are for people that wants to keep their normal glasses and occasionally use filter glass for sun protection, increased contrast or both. Its slim design and light weight make it easy to bring on any occasion. The clip-on mechanism has rubber tips makes it suitable for virtually any pair glasses.
