Coach Samson, a native of Helena MT, is a 1982 graduate of the University of Montana with a History/Political Science degree. In his eight seasons at Northern, the Lights have emerged nationally as a program to be reckoned with. After an initial 2-9 campaign in 2004, Northern ran off 4 straight winning seasons hi-lighted by a first ever national playoff appearance in 2006. Along with team recognition, the Lights have had three Conference MVP’s (Kyle Samson-2006: Justin Moe-2008: Will Andrews-2011) and a large number of All-Conference and All-American selections both athletically and academically. Samson himself was awarded as Frontier Conference Coach of the Year in 2006 as well as NAIA Region 9 Coach of the Year that same year. Mark Samson’s coaching career began in 1982 as an assistant at Helena High School under Mike Kramer. In 1984, Samson was hired at Broadwater Co. Samson also served as Head Track Coach at Loyola for 1988-89. In the Spring of 1990, Samson accepted an assistant position with National powerhouse Carroll College under the direction of Hall of fame Coach Bob Petrino. In his first two seasons, Samson served as wide receiver’s coach and in charge of Special Teams. In the spring of 1992, Samson was elevated to Offensive Coordinator/QB’s Coach. MSU-Northern Skylights Volleyball Bill Huebsch Head Coach Bill Huebsch returns for his 4th season at the helm of the Skylight Volleyball program which saw new heights in 2011 and raised expectations for 2012. The 2011 Skylights had their best start in recent years, winning 11 of their first 15 matches. Starting 3-0 in the conference, the team was alone in first place for the first time in over a decade - and defeated the #23 ranked team in the nation at that time. Successes continued to come with home and road sweeps over conference opponents UM-Western and Montana Tech, a first for the program since 2002. The Skylights broke the 10+ win mark for the second consecutive year, finishing 13-14 overall and 6th in the conference. Once again, the Skylights placed a team member on the 1st Team All-Conference Volleyball Team, and shined in the classroom with 7 team members named Academic All Conference - those seven players made the Dean’s List as well. In 2010, the Skylights had their most successful campaign in six seasons. The team broke the 10+ win mark for the first time since 2004 and completed the first conference sweep on the road since 2003. The Skylights also had one member named 1st Team All- Conference, 2 members on the Daktronics/NAIA Scholar Athlete list and 9 members on the Academic All Conference list. Huebsch’s inaugural season at Northern in 2009 saw many firsts that had not occurred in quite some time at Northern. The team doubled their conference win total over the previous season and won more total matches in 2009 than the three previous years combined. They also won a combined 59 individual games, as compared to only 19 in 2008. Adding to what had already been a successful year, the team completed a weekend home sweep of conference opponents (UM-Western and Montana Tech) to end the conference season – a home sweep had not been accomplished at Northern since 2004. Prior to joining the Skylight volleyball program, Huebsch was the head volleyball coach at Havre High School in Havre, Montana. In 11 seasons the Blue Ponies won three conference titles, never finishing lower than third in the Central “A” Conference. During his tenure, the Ponies qualified for the state tournament 8 out of his 11 years, winning back to back state championship titles in 1997 and 1998. His teams also earned 2 runner-up trophies, 2 third place finishes, and never finished lower than 5th at the state tourney. Huebsch finished at Havre High with win/loss records of 90-25 conference (78.0%) and 226-93 over-all (71.0%) He was named Central “A” Coach of the Year twice, and nominated 8 times for the Montana Coaches Association Coach of the Year, winning the award two times. Both graduates of Northern Montana College, Bill and his wife Tracy have been married for 15 years and have three daughters, Madison (14), Logan (11) and Devyn (9).

Tamecia Jarvis Assistant Coach Tamecia Jarvis is originally from Phoenix, AZ. J arvis is no stranger to MSU-Northern, she participated in basketball during the 2000-2002 seasons and finished her athletic career playing volleyball during 2002-03 season where she earned Newcomer of the Year and All Conference honors. Jarvis started her volleyball coaching career at Havre High where she was the Freshman Coach and an assistant to Bill Huebsch. Tamecia has a degree in Physical Education from MSUN. She has been married to her husband, Richard, for six years and they have two daughters, Kyanna (7) and Amaya (5).
