Term 3 Week 4 Monday 3rd August 2015 Dear Parents and Caregivers, I am delighted to have the opportunity to relieve Mrs McNair while she is on leave. I have already met many of the happy, well-behaved students and enthusiastic staff. They have made me feel very welcome and part of the team already. The NAIDOC assembly was a very special occasion. Our special visitor, Aunty Carol, spoke with depth of feeling about the importance of celebrating NAIDOC week and the children showed everyone how much they have learnt about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Each class presented a special piece of knowledge they had learnt, and everyone in the audience walked away knowing more than they did before. Well done, kids, you taught us well! The primary children have enjoyed their basketball session this Friday. It is a fabulous sport that is inclusive and is able to be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. It is a sport that develops teamwork and leadership skills, as well as confidence and self esteem. Basketball can be played both indoors and outside, making it the perfect sport all year round. In the coming week I will be working with staff on Circle Time, which is a great tool to encourage all children to participate in group activities. It can make a significant impact in developing children’s skills and attitudes and the best part is that it is fun! If you happen to be in the school, come and introduce yourself and have a chat. I am looking forward to working with your children over the next two weeks. Warm regards, Viktoria Rendes Relieving Principal, Mount Victoria PS

Chocolate Fundraiser The P & C is running a fantastic CADBURY FUNDRAISER DRIVE to raise funds for the Presentation Day Book Awards at the end of the year.

For the 2015 drive we have Cadbury Freddo & Friends boxes as well as Europe boxes (Honey Logs & Summer Rolls). Selling for $1 per chocolate (50 per box), this represents excellent value to the buyer and our profits will go to the purchase of book for the school. You will be able to collect your special Cadbury Fundraiser carry boxes from the school hall on: Wednesday 5th August at 3pm. -

You will have the opportunity to get another box on Wednesday 12th August at 3pm You will also be provided with an envelope to collect the money raised (or you can pay via direct debit). Please tempt your family members, colleagues in the workplace, friends or neighbours. We do not recommend involving children in selling, but if they are involved, they must do so under adult supervision, especially if selling door to door. We ask that all orders and money collected be returned to Mishka Borowski, Chrissy Davies or Front Office in the envelope provided no later than Wednesday 26th August. If experiencing difficulties, check back with us as early as possible as others may be looking for more chocolates to sell or share a box with another family. Fundraising activities such as this make a vital contribution towards helping our small school for the benefit of our children.

Don’t want to take a box home? If it is not your thing, that's ok! You can still support the P&C's effort by a simple donation or volunteering. Please let us know what you can do to help.

To pay for chocolates OR a donation to P &C; Mount Victoria P&C Association bsb: 052507 acc: 10013502 (Please ensure you write surname and box number on your direct debit payment so our Treasurer, Vanessa McGarrigle, knows who you are! You can also pay by cash with the envelope provided.)

In anticipation of a successful fundraising drive. We thank you for your support.
