Head Teacher Message This week, today especially, I have been immensely proud of our children as we reflect on Remembrance Sunday. Our children have articulated a clear understanding of why we should never forget what happened during WW1 and WW2; they understand that with individual liberty comes responsibility and tolerance. Our two minutes’ silence today was a reverent and mature mark of respect. “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.” Laurence Binyon

Question of the week ? What does Safeguarding mean in our school? Everyone in our school has a responsibility to provide a safe learning environment in which our children can learn. All staff members are prepared to identify children who may benefit from early help and understand their role within this process. This includes identifying any emerging problems so appropriate support may be provided and liaising with the designated safeguarding lead (Mrs Staley; assisted by Mrs Moores and Mrs Orchard) to report any concerns. All staff members are aware of and follow school processes, as set out in the policy and are aware of how to make a referral to Social Care if there is a need to do so. We actively encourage our team to note any concerns they have about a child, no matter how minor it may appear, as we would rather have one hundred notes that come to nothing than one concern missed which leads to a bigger issue. All staff are trained as part of their induction process to raise their awareness around child protection. Our safeguarding leads undertake a full day’s training every 2 years which is also disseminated via whole school training regularly too.

Moulsham Junior School Moulsham Memo Moulsham Junior School Christmas Card Competition Following our successful competition last year we are once again launching a competition to design a Moulsham Junior School Christmas Card. There will be a prize for the best design chosen from each year group and the four winning designs will be professionally printed and used for us to send to our neighbouring schools and all the other companies and organisations that we work with. The designs will need to be on either A5 or A4 paper (no larger than this please) and the artwork can be either landscape or portrait. Any text, artwork or border designs need to be kept at least 1cm away from the edge of the paper. Children can use pastels, paints, collage, felt pans, inks, printing, glitter or charcoal for their design and bright, bold artwork is most effective. Please discourage children from leaving large areas of white background. Finally, designs should be kept unfolded and damage free as creases and marks will show on the final print. Competition entries should be brought to Reception marked for the attention of Mrs Tyler. The final date for handing entries in is Tuesday 22 nd November.

Christmas Enterprise Event - Friday 16th December 2016 Our children will soon be preparing for our Christmas Enterprise event and they aim to raise £2,000. The funds raised will be split between our playground refurbishments and our charity for this year Cancer Research - Kids and Teens. FOMs will be providing refreshments in the North Wing Hall from 3pm to enable you to get warm and merry before the classrooms are opened at 3:30pm. If you are a budding craft person and would like to hire a table top for the event you may do so for a minimum donation towards the fund raising of £10. It would be great if we could have some Christmas crafts on sale, especially as you have a captive audience of around 600 people!
