Morton’s Information Pack

Background Morton’s private members’ club has been at the centre of Mayfair’s vibrant social scene for the past 35 years. Built in 1823 and once the private residence of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Grade II Listed building overlooks the length of Berkeley Square, arguably one of the most striking views in London. Since 2002 it has been owned by Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation (MARC Ltd) which is also responsible for the Michelin-starred Umu and The Greenhouse restaurants and four additional restaurants in New York, Connecticut and Boston. Morton’s occupies one of the most coveted spots in London, overlooking the length of Berkeley Square. Following an extensive refurbishment in 2009, the reopening of the club has seen this impressive townhouse returned to its Georgian heritage. Its classic 19th century exterior is complemented by the contemporary décor of all its rooms, creating an elegant and relaxed space. The committee of Morton’s comprises an eclectic mix of high profile individuals from a multitude of industries including fashion, property, arts and finance, attracted by its home-from-home comfort and central location. With a growing reputation for its cuisine, attentive service and a 1,600 bin wine list, Morton’s Club is the perfect backdrop for any day to day social or business engagement. Morton’s Club holds a treasure trove of contemporary European art – all from the private collection of Marlon Abela. From the striking Bernard Frize upon entrance, to the specially commissioned light responsive installation by UVA in the Night Lounge and the provocative George Condo in the bar, nothing can prepare you for the true showstopper, Sir Howard Hodgkin’s As Time Goes By located in the restaurant.

The Restaurant Menu The first-floor restaurant, with its lofty ceilings and panoramic balcony for summer dining, is the very heart of the house. Morton’s Head Chef, Yvonnick Lalle, has devised an innovative menu inspired by the relaxed culinary styles of the Mediterranean. The restaurant is open for breakfast from 7.30am with a competitive three course £25 menu available for lunch, a delicious tea served in the afternoon and an a la carte dinner menu available from 7pm. Morton’s Wines Morton’s extensive range of wines, comprising over 1,700 bins, has been meticulously selected from across the globe by Chairman Marlon Abela and is a source of pride within the Club. Famous names include; Chateau d’Yquem (a vertical starting from 1937 to 1996) and Vega Sicilia (1965 until 1991) as well as prestigious Bordeauxs from more than six different vintages. This affordable yet superior collection (prices start from £34 - £16,000) is complimented by our highly knowledgeable sommeliers, who are always on hand to guide members with their choice.
