MorphoAccess Enrollment Station Installation Guide

1 - Hardware Description

1. HARDWARE DESCRIPTION

SAGEM access control system is made up of one or more MorphoAccess terminals, a PC fitted with the ES application and an MSO.

1.1. Enrollment Station The PC fitted with the ES application is called enrollment station. It is used to record personal access control information. During this phase, called enrollment phase, the alphanumeric data (first name, last name, etc.) and the biometric data (fingerprints) are recorded. Once recorded, this information is sent to the MorphoAccess terminal, which will use them to grant or deny access. The Enrollment Station PC must meet the following requirements: − Minimum requirements: A Pentium III 750MHz processor; 512 Megabytes of RAM; a network card; a parallel port; a serial port; 4 USB ports. − Its display resolution should be of 1024 X 768 at least. − Operating system specification: Windows 2000 Server™ Service Pack 2, Windows 2000™ Service Pack 2, Or Windows XP™ ServicePack1. The application uses either an ACCESS 2000™ or an SQL Server™ database, or an ORACLE™ database. For fingerprint capture, you need an Optical MorphoSmart 100 to capture fingerprints, instead of a MorphoTouch. The Optical MorphoSmart 100 is a SAGEM fingerprint sensor which is plugged in a USB port. It only runs under Windows 2000™ or Windows XP™.

1.2. MorphoAccess Terminal The MorphoAccess is installed at the access point you want to secure. It is generally hung on the wall. Like the MorphoTouch, it is made up of a screen, a keyboard and a fingerprint sensor.

Figure 1-3: MorphoAccess description. The MorphoAccess can control an electrical lock or communicate with an access controller. There are 3 types of MorphoAccess terminals: − MA200: it stores 1 internal database of 800 records; − MA300: it stores 16 databases of 3,000 records each. Before placing their finger on the fingerprint sensor, users will have to enter their database number (unless it is 0, which is the by-default database); − MA220: Any person wanting to be authentified by the MorphoAccess must have a contactless access card. He/She passes his/her card in front of the MorphoAccess to proceed to the authentication. The MA220 can also operate as a MA200. − MA221: MA220 with false finger detection integrated feature. − MA221d: MA221 with encrypted data management (DESFire) and false finger detection.

3. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

3.1. MorphoAccess Configuration

3.1.1.

Network Configuration

At the MorphoAccess level, to access the administration menu, refer to SAGEM SA MORPHOACCESS Installation guide and follow the instructions. This guide explains how to configure the IP address, the sub-network mask and the gateway by default. In case of any problem, please contact your system administrator.

3.1.2.

Connected Mode Configuration

Configure the "stand - alone" mode to allocate itself the value " 0 ". Refer to SAGEM SA MORPHOACCESS Installation guide for detailed information.

3.1.3.

Relay Configuration

Configure the relay according to your needs (time of opening), and indicate in the "active" menu the value corresponding to your cabling. Check the SAGEM SA MORPHOACCESS Installation guide for detailed information.

3.1.4.

Language Configuration

You can also select the MorphoAccess language (French, English and Spanish). Refer to SAGEM SA MORPHOACCESS Installation guide for detailed information.

3.1.5.

Output Configuration

If you use MorphoAccess terminals with an access control system, you must configure the terminals to send the person's identifier to the controller. According to the controller specification, you can use serial link, Wiegand, Data Clock or TCP/IP. The configuration is described in SAGEM SA MORPHOACCESS Installation guide.

4. INSTALLATION OF THE ENROLLMENT STATION APPLICATION

When the physical installation of the system is completed, proceed to the application installation.

4.1. Your PC is Already Fitted with a MEMS In this case, firstly you have to uninstall the previous version. Step 1: Save the previous database called 'server.mdb' located in the application directory (by default: \Program Files\Sagem\MAES\ or \Program Files\Sagem\ES\). Copy it in a temporary directory or in a floppy disk. Or perform a backup of the SQL Server. Step 2: Uninstall the previous version: From Start\Parameters\Control Panel, click on "Add/Remove programs", select 'MorphoAccessES' (or 'ES' if you use a 3.1 version or older), or MEMS 5.x; Click "Remove". NOTE:

Microsoft® SQL Server functionalities enable to perform backups. Please refer to the Microsoft® documentation for the detail and configuration of the backup procedure.

4.5. Software Protection The different functionalities of MEMS are now protected by activation keys. For each “sensitive” function, an activation key is set depending on the dongle and the label of the function: − MACI for the communication with MA − MEMS_STD for MEMS with Access, − MEMS_SERV for MEMS Server with SQL Server, − MEMS_CLI for MEMS Client with SQL Server − WSQ for fingerprint images, − MORPHOPAK for portrait capture, − IMPR_PASS for the printing station. Installation with ORACLE will be protected by the same licenses as for the installation with SQL SERVER: − The ORACLE client should have MEMS_CLI license − The ORACLE server should have MEMS_SERV license.

4.6. Station Update If, later on, you want to add options to the station, re-insert the "MorphoAccess enrollment station" CD and launch the "setup.exe" application. The following menu is displayed:

4.7. Station Deletion Follow the instructions of paragraph 4.3 and select the “Remove” option in the screen of figure 4.3.Then, click on ”Next”. WARNING: For every update action, application repair and deletion, a database backup is achieved if you installed the standard MEMS version. This one is in the application current directory (by default \Program Files\sagem\MAES) with the name server_copy.mdb. To complete the uninstallation, delete this file manually. So, the data will be definitively lost. NOTE: The enrollment station can work with the MorphoKit dlls, from a MorphoKit V 3.1 and 3.2 if you use an MSO. If your PC is fitted with MorphoKit and MEMS, and you uninstall MEMS, it will be necessary to re-install the dongle drivers from the MorphoKit CD. For any further information about data update or deletion, refer to the documentation in the menu Start Programs SAGEM MEMS 5.1 Documentation. The system is now installed. Before making it operational, you must configure it (refer to the user guide).

8 - MEMS Application Start-up

8. MEMS APPLICATION START-UP

The first time the MEMS application is used, only one application will be available: Users Management, which allows to create and manage users' profiles (Administrators and Operators), as well as their access rights to the applications. If you click on another icon a message will inform you that you do not have access rights. IMPORTANT: The first user created in the system must have system administration access rights. This access right is called: "System Configuration". Create Administrator profile and MEMS Operators: 9.

Click the "Users Management" icon of the MEMS Launcher.

10. Enter the default confadmin password. This password is only asked at first use. When users are created, this application is only available for the users with "System Configuration" access rights. 11. Create a super user with system configuration access rights. Refer to the section 4.2. Users' Profiles Creation page 4-27 of the Enrollment Station User's Guide - M417-052B v8.0. 12. Create "Operator" users.

WARNING: The names of the different MEMS users created must correspond to Windows® logins. If you create a different user than ‘maes’, the system allows you to change default connection parameters to the database. Launch ‘Settings’ application, a window will be displayed. You will just need to fill the new user login, password, and DSN Name (‘maes’ by default). MEMS system is using ODBC components to connect to the database. You can configure yourself the data source name (DSN Name). Please refer to Microsoft windows documentation.
