Advantages
Glass Block Advantages Graffiti And Vandal Resistant
The surface of glass block is resilient to abuse from paints, markers and stickers with an easier to clean quality making it the intelligent choice for public structures.
Transmission Of Light Brilliance and Adaptability
Extremely versatile, glass block gives designers, architects and consumers the ability to transform ordinary spaces into places of light, color, texture and shape. The combinations of Seves styles, sizes and hues provide unlimited design possibilities while providing the structural strength and light transmission glass block has always set the standard for. With this huge array of options glass block is also now adaptable to most any project.
Glass block resists most scratching, clouding and weathering while providing exceptional visibility that is in compliance with ADA guidelines for enclosed areas. Changes in levels of both artificial and natural light compliment the appearance of glass block surfaces, shapes and colors thereby enhancing both interior and exterior environments.
Resistance To Impact
The all-around thickness of the glass block surfaces combined with the strength of the mortar joints surrounding them give glass block a definitive advantage over traditional glass windows. These advantages also make glass block the choice building material for transmitting light while adding extra protection from projectile strikes and accidental impacts. The Seves Technology line also features bullet-resistant options and more.
www.sevesglassblock.com
Energy Conservation
The thermal resistance difference between glass block and single glaze plate glass at 1/8 inch thickness is more than two to one. Glass block provides over double the R-Value of standard plate glass while also taking into consideration the cooling effect that the shading horizontal mortar joints provides over large surface areas.
Noise And Sound Resistant
Features such as mass and internal air space guarantee that Seves glass blocks offer a high level of sound insulation value with a minimum of 40dB. The Technology line features products with sound insulation capacities that are not only superior to the recommended ranges for ambient sound but even better than brick walls of identical thickness. These blocks can reach a 49dB level of sound barrier and make Seves glass block a preferred material in very noisy environments (discos, manufacturing facilities, etc.)
Glass block has always been valued for its virtues of strength and light transmission. Adding to these benefits are textures and patterns that can obscure interiors from exterior visibility. Seves now features an array of sizes and thicknesses in the Technology line that elevate security factors to maximum levels. These thicker and solid blocks offer multitudes of choices when security, visibility and sound transmission are factors. Many blocks also offer increased protection from fire, weather and ballistic damage.
Fire Resistant
All Seves glass block lines feature inherent fire-resistant composition. The Seves Technology line includes a specific range of glass blocks that are suitable for vertical applications requiring high classes of fire protection and are certified according to principal regulations. Seves Glass Block submits “fire resistant” glass blocks to strict quality controls which raise their mean resistance and enable the stability of the panel and its heat insulation quality to be verified over time.
North American Glass Block design guide
Sustainability
Seves Glass Block is a supporter of LEED building certification and is equally proud of the environmental benefits glass block provides. Composed primarily of the abundant raw materials of sand and limestone, glass block also has low production waste and is completely recyclable. Its long lasting durability has been tested through the ages and its energy efficiency is at the pinnacle of the glass building product world.

Design Line The Design line was developed with the contributions and experience of leading figures in contemporary architecture and design who shared our desire to create a new concept of glass block inspired by the principles of creativity, style, functionality and innovation. These innovative technologies, when applied to the manufacturing of the standard module, led to the creation of the “winged” Pegasus glass block. The mold-breaking Pegasus has done away with joints and has freed walls from any interruption in the continuity of glass.

VetroQUICK
Details
Pegasus Installation System VetroQUICK is a dry installation system for creating glass block walls simply, quickly, safely and simplifies installation with the use of a few accessories: a profile and a cross. Accessories:
Design line — 13
Installation process IMPORTANT: before starting the installation process: Mark with a pencil the dimensions of the glass block wall on the floor and wall, making sure that these lines are square and level. If the wall is created with a wooden profile or another type of material, make sure the profile is securely fastened to the floor and wall.
Installation process Prepare the cross as “L” shape (for the starting angle) or “T” shape (for the first row of blocks) If creating cantilever walls (or using the end of a wall). Cut the profile in correspondence of the score line that marks the end block of the wall or rectangular block.
Use the cross depending on the glass block chosen (Pegasus or Basic) Prepare the cross as “L” shape and, use the profiles to insert it into the appropriate slot until a right angle is formed. Draw the necessary points on the floor and wall next to the holes present on the profile. Drill the holes. Place the wedges and screw the structure to the square created beforehand with VetroQUICK. Prepare the cross as “T” shape and join it to the profiles. Continue to add profiles and crosses, repeating the drawing, drilling and screwing operations until reaching the desired width of the wall. Once all the horizontal profiles have been positioned, start inserting the vertical profiles by inserting them into the slits.
North American Glass Block design guide
Place the glass blocks in between the vertical profiles until the row is completed Insert a “T” shape cross into the top block leaning against the wall (laterally) in order to continue the installation process with VetroQUICK Add more rows of VetroQUICK accessories and glass block rows until the whole wall is completed.
Finishing process Finish off the joins with quick-setting mortar. Mix the special mortar (cement-based filler) with the suitable mixing spade on the driller, with adjustable speed, Apply it with the suitable spatula or gummy plastering trowels.
• Fill the joints with the special mortar of the desired color. • Sponge the joint area after it has hardened. Clean with a wet cloth the surface of the glass when the mortar is dry but still not hardened, and refine your work with the suitable products. VetroQUICK is conceived and developed for indoor use. However it can be used in settings subject to high humidity or exposure to water (e.g. shower stalls) if totally impermeable finishing for joints is used, and if the finishing is done in a workman-like manner.

The Energy Saving PLUS technology sets a new standard in energy conservation, making glass blocks even more eco-friendly and suitable for sustainable architecture.
Energy Saving
In fact, Seves has further reduced the thermal transmittance of the glass block to a never-before-reached level: U=.228 In 2009, Seves was the first company to revolutionize glass block with the introduction of this new “Energy Saving” technology, reducing the thermal transmittance of the classic glass block to U=.264 (from U=.493). Today Seves has rendered this technology even more effective, thanks to continuous research and investment in new ecological solutions.
—
The new Energy Saving PLUS glass block allows for an even more efficient use of energy in architecture, by providing greater control of thermal dispersion to significantly reduce its consumption. This represents a .46% increase in efficiency.
Technology Since its introduction, Energy Saving technology has improved the thermal transmission properties of the glass block. The new thermal values are achieved by inserting a low-emissive glass plate and pressure controlled Argon gas inside the glass block. The lowemissive plate interrupts the thermal bridge of the block, while the gas further reduces the heat transfer caused by convective motions. With the new Energy Saving PLUS technology, Seves has successfully lowered the levels of thermal transmittance even more thanks to the addition of a polystyrene frame between the two glass block halves, which further interrupts the thermal bridge and protects the low-emissive glass plate within.
ENERGY SAVING AND THE FUTURE Seves has always been attentive to energy conservation and to promoting a more efficient use of resources and renewable energy materials in architecture. Today, it offers professionals a new tool that significantly reduces the energy consumption of a glass structure and improves its energy efficiency. For the architect focused on ‘green’ building, who does not want to compromise on style and design, the Energy Saving PLUS glass block can add color, light, transparency AND sustainability to any project.
