Juniors Report Metro Regional Carnival Once again, the kids of Mordialloc came, competed, conquered and delivered fabulous results across all age groups and events at the recent Metro Regional Carnival. The Metro Regionals is all about qualifying for the upcoming State Championships to be held in Warrnambool March 8-9th. In team events, the Iron as well as newly introduced individual events; board race and flags. The Mordialloc Nippers did not disappoint. From the u9 to u14 most events were represented with some age groups dominating in numbers whilst others were lucky enough to have some enthusiastic kids jump up an age group to assist. A massive call out to these kids for showing great team work and dedication to help get as many teams as possible across the line. It was a very competitive and long day on the beach. With the Port Phillip Bay raising its ugly head making the water events a little tougher and adding time to the event schedule. The kids (and parents) remained positive and team spirited throughout the day and were both humble in their successes and resilient in their loses, despite a few tears of disappointment and exhaustion. Hats off to all the parent helpers, officials, water safety and of course the kids for making the day a great success. The Mordialloc Nippers and parents together with the entire club should be super proud of the results - we qualified for over 75 individual events and 50 team events. Masters State Titles Lorne 2015 Mordialloc Life Saving Club masters competitors are State champions for 2015! On Saturday 14th Feb, Mordialloc Life Saving Clubs finest athletes went down to Lorne to compete at the Masters State Life Saving Championships. After many months of training (for some, and 1 or less nights for others!) we hit the sand at 8am to venture into the blood sweat and tears of the competition. Mordialloc had 40 of most fittest and best looking competitors that anyone had seen at a surf carnival, doing every event from 2km run, flags, sprints, surf races, tube races, taplins, board relays, surf boats, board rescues and every other event that was on offer. Mordialloc had teams in everything, and if not won, placed or got points in every race that they went in. Nothing was too much for anyone, and whatever anyone was asked to have a go in, they did. It was a great effort by all who attended, I was very proud of all who went, especially those who ventured into the unknown, pushing their body’s too place’s that they may have never been before (or not for many, many, many, many, many, many years !). This was the first time we have won the Master State Title, which brings us to being the current State Champs for the Beach, the Pool and now the Masters. This is a great time for the Mordialloc Life Saving Club, and great to see so many people getting involved and having a go and different things. The dinner on the Saturday night had over 120 members from the club attend their Pier Hotel at Lorne, which was an awesome atmosphere, and great to see so many members supporting not only the club, but each other. We had many great highlights of the day, with some people winning their first medals, and their first gold medals, which were great to see. As there were to many results to list, the link to the results page is: http://sportlsv.carnival.sls.com.au/eventmgr/results/report/public/211/1 But we will list all of those who did compete! • Grant Rattenbury, • Winston Burger • Paul Taylor • George Crilley • Xavier Griffths • Rob Tennant • James Evans • Mick Meyer • Marc Jefferies • Lisa Ferguson • Kate MacFarlane • Alison Stansby • Sarah Webster • Marcia Roach • Sue Clark • Peta Young • Robyn Lister • Jacqui Thomas • Ally Cain • Jodie O’Toole !

Thanks to also to the supporters who came down to watch, the youngsters who helped pack and unload the trailer, the trailer towers, the photographers, and everyone who helped out in any way. Hopefully we will see you all again next year. James Evans Vice President

Surf Boat Report Mordialloc Life Saving Club has had some excellent results at recent major carnivals. All crews are performing well and there is an air of great excitement around the club. This season two surf boat crews will be attending the Aussies. Next year, we are hoping to increase that number even more. We also had five crews travel up to Shell Harbour, NSW to compete at the Navy ASRL Open. This is the biggest surf boat event in the world, and over 300 crews competed. With five crews in attendance, MLSC was in the top ten clubs, in terms of crew attendance. This is fantastic and demonstrates Mordy's strength in the surf boat events. We were also the most successful Victorian Club at the ASRL Open, receiving two silver medals.
