I have developed numerous websites for the German section and for all German classes, for German-American Day, and for the German Club and Suite. In addition, I developed various websites about “Arab-German Writers, Musicians, and Painters” and “Musik im Deutschunterricht,” a website dedicated to methods on how effectively to use German music in the classroom. This website consists of various other websites with many lesson plans that I developed and I have been using in my various classes. I have also developed two websites on “Islam in Europe” and “Islam in German-speaking Countries” with links to many resources for foreign language teachers. Summer 2012 Taught 3 Startalk summer seminars for teachers of less commonly taught languages at McDaniel College, NOVA, and University of California San Bernandino July 2012 Taught the Deutsche Sommer Schule am Pazific in Portland, OR. The topic was “German Instruction in the 21st Century: Creative, Innovative in the Age of Multimedia” (Film, Musik und MaÅNrchen) March 2012 Was invited to give introductory remarks and lead the discussion after the showing of the German film “A Kaddish for a Friend” at this year’s Baltimore Jewish Film Festival. March 2012 Taught a Webinar to German Teachers from around the United States on how to use music in the German classroom more effectively. February 2012 Gave the keynote address at a Startalk event for Arabic and Chinese teachers at McDaniel College. November 2009 Organized a talk by Dr. Maria Tatar from Harvard University on “The Mysteries of Beauty and Horror in Fairy Tales“ Helped organize an “Evening with Fairy Tales from Around the World” at the Fairhaven Retirement Center in Sykesville, MD, which was hosted by Win Dulaney. 2 students from my First Year Seminar on Folk and Fairy Tales and I were guest speakers at the event. I spoke on “Christian Motifs in the Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm” Attended this year’s ACTFL Convention in San Diego, offered a workshop on “Tokio Hotel: Die erfolgreichste Deutsche Band”, and two papers on “Berlin mit allen Sinnen” and “Multikulturelle Musik aus Deutschland” October 2009 Attended the MFLA Fall conference and offered a workshop on “Von Grimm bis Rammstein: MaÅNrchen im Deutschunterricht” as well as a session on “iPod YouFlip WeAll Skype: 21dt Century Technology in Language Instruction.
