Mission With Women, Children and Youth

Margaret Lubwama stands in her garden in Kabulasoke, Uganda, where the Ntulume Village Women Development Association has trained women in improved agricultural practices, thus increasing food security and empowering women and children. The program was supported by funding from a United Methodist Women’s A Call to Prayer and Self-Denial grant.

The maps featured in the following pages offer a glimpse of where United Methodist Women members’ Mission Giving and special offerings are at work in the world helping women, children and youth. Our approach to mission is different from many Christian mission organizations in that United Methodist Women endeavors to empower women and youth to care for themselves and their families and to provide the leadership that their communities and nations sorely need. Some grants represented on these maps go directly to specific organizations or projects. These can include schools, hospitals, agricultural projects, youth networks and more.

Other grants go to United Methodist and other women’s societies, ecumenical organizations and grassroots groups. This enables women to decide what projects and work is needed in their countries. The projects on these maps indicate projects supported by United Methodist Women through 2014 and 2015. Funds come from national and international ministries budgets, international scholarships, property and emergency funds, grants from A Call to Prayer and Self-Denial, Brighter Future, Assembly 2014, and other permanent and special funds. For 2015, the United Methodist Women Board of Directors approved a $16.7 million 2015 management budget from United

Methodist Women Mission Giving funds. The budget includes $3.55 million for national and international programs administered by United Methodist Women mission partners, $8.7 million for national and international programs administered by United Methodist Women, $605,000 program support and $3.5 million for supporting services. Grants disclosures, income reports, treasurer’s reports, financial statements and annual reports can all be found at www.unitedmethodistwomen.org/ finance. Your gracious giving changes lives for women, children, youth and families down the street and around the world.
