Innovative Outfitting for the Serious Whitewater Paddler.

Thank you! Thank you for your interest in Mike Yee Outfitting! Our goal is to provide you, the serious whitewater canoeist, with the most innovative outfitting available today. Mike Yee has spent years developing and refining his products. Paddler feedback and countless hours of on-water testing have resulted in what we, and hundreds of satisified paddlers, consider to be the finest outfitting on the market. We use only the highest quality, most durable materials. All of our anchor products are constructed of marine-grade 30 oz. vinyl. Webbing attachments all receive a minimum of eight-stitch runs (using automotive-grade, rot-resistant nylon thread) on primary stress points, and four stitch runs on the secondary points. Oversized anchor bases provide a larger gluing surface area, reducing the chance of adhesion failure. We pay meticulous attention to every detail in the manufacturing of our products. All Mike Yee Outfitting products (unless improperly used or installed) are guaranteed to be free of material and manufacturing defects for a period of one year from the original date of purchase.

Double-Strap System & Full Position Kits

Mike Yee is a pioneer of the Three-Point, Double-Strap System, created by combining a Crotch Anchor (Point 1), Knee Strap (Point 2), Thigh Strap and Ankle Anchor (Point 3). Mike’s innovative bungee system suspends the thigh straps from the hull of the boat just below the gunnels and the knee straps from the bag cage. This keeps the straps in a hooped position, ready for a quick entry.By connecting the Thigh and Knee Straps, only a single pull is required to tighten the entire system, making it the fastest, most secure, and safest outfitting system on the market today. When properly installed, escape is fast and easy. You have the ultimate in boat control when you combine the Three-Point, Double-Strap System with a Mike Yee Pedestal and Knee Cups. This full position system provides maximum contact between you, the outfitting, and the hull of your boat. The transfer of energy from your body to the paddle and boat will be more efficient and fluid. All of these elements combined will enhance your skills, control, safety—and enjoyment!

Air bags are a necessary component of any whitewater outfitting system. They serve two purposes—water displacement and floatation. In combination, they provide a greater degree of safety by keeping the boat floating higher in the water when swamped, giving you more control to avoid pinning and wraps. Mike Yee developed the Bag Cage System, an innovative solution for anchoring floatation. The Bag Cage allows air bags to conform to the shape of the hull and shift as necessary. The bags are not directly connected to either the hull or cage, eliminating stress points that can burst air bags open when pressure builds. The cage completely encloses the bags, spreading the stress load evenly and preventing the bags from escaping. This will extend the life of your air bags and also make it easy to remove them for travel. (Note: We recommend removing your air bags while traveling to reduce potential damage caused by wind flap and bag abrasion in transport.) Order a single Bag Kit for solo canoes or tandems with center floatation. Detailed, illustrated instructions are included.

C1 Kits

The C1 Kits are the only kits of their kind—an innovative concept that was developed by Mike Yee after listening to the concerns of C1 paddlers. Factory outfitting, notorious for its loose fit in plastic boats, can leave much to be desired. Mike reengineered his proven Three-Point, DoubleStrap System to retrofit C1s equipped with plastic pedestal bases. KC1 01

Important: While this system will keep you very secure in your C1, it significantly increases the difficulty of escape. We do not recommend the C1 Kits for novice paddlers. Intermediate through Expert Level CBoaters will appreciate the dramatic improvement in boat control and the secure fit for those encounters with turbulent holes and big drops. A bombproof river roll is crucial for users of this kit.

The Pedestal

A properly designed and fitted pedestal is essential for any serious boater—solo or tandem—who paddles Class III whitewater and beyond. Mike Yee’s shorter and wider pedestal outperforms the longer, thwart-mounted narrow saddles found in many boats. The difference? Longer, narrower saddles are usually bordered on the front and back by float bags, creating a water dam in the boat. The Mike Yee Pedestal allows water to travel freely in the boat, making it much more stable on the river and much easier to roll. The Pedestal is made of closed mini-cell foam, is 8" wide for maximum comfort and stability, and available in four heights from 8" to 11". It has a separate foot brace mounting block at the rear of the pedestal that allows water to flow freely and a raised lip on the front edge that prevents the boat from slipping off your shoulder when portaging.Yakima Foot Braces are recessed and securely mounted on plastic dowels. Knee Cups

Single Knee Cup—Designed for narrow solo boats and bow tandem positions. They feature a high, thick ridge on the inside of the knee only. Base dimensions: 8"(W) x 9"(L) Item: KCS 01 Double Knee Cup—The Double Knee Cup features high, thick ridges on both sides of the knee with a 5" inside width, creating a snug fit. They are ideal for solo boats, tandems, C1s, or C2s. Base dimensions: 8" (W) x 11" (L) Item: KCD 01

Thigh Straps Padded, Contoured Thigh Straps Thigh straps perform two crucial functions in whitewater paddling—they keep you secure in the boat and they’re essential for maximum boat control. These deluxe thigh straps are contoured, providing more surface contact for increased control, and padded for greater comfort. The 3" wide straps are made with EVA foam inserts that won’t rot, mildew, or absorb water. The exterior is soft, rugged Cordura nylon. The thigh straps feature a 1" Type V (Coast Guard-approved), quick-release, heavy-duty Fastex buckle and an extra long tail for adapting to the ThreePoint, Double-Strap System. The Bungee System suspends the thigh straps from just below the gunnels, keeping the straps hooped and ready to slide into. Weight: 170g (6 oz) Item: TSOC 01 (1 pair)

Side & Ankle Anchors Side Anchor The Side Anchor is designed to anchor 2" thigh straps or 1" Contoured Thigh Straps to sides of tripping boats equipped with seats or thwarts. By not attaching straps directly to the seats or thwarts, the possibility of them being torn loose by the stress of an impact is eliminated. Weight: 44g (1.57 oz) Item: SAL 01 (left) SAR 01 (right)

Ankle Anchor with 1" Strap Designed to anchor 1" Thigh Strap Systems with Fastex Buckles. The Ankle Anchor has 24" of 1" webbing sewn in to reduce hardware and weight. Weight: 5g (2.3 oz) Item: AA 01(1 pair)

Adjustable Ankle Anchor (4-Position)

Knee Straps Knee Straps provide maximum boat control by anchoring your knees to the hull. Flexible plastic inserts are used to retain the strap’s shape, preventing it from rolling or bunching up. A reverse stitch at the heavy duty metal slider prevents leg chaffing. Knee Straps can be used with the Padded Contoured Thigh Strap (above) or 1" webbing as part of the Three-Point, Double-Strap System. The Bungee System connects the Knee Strap to the Bag Cage, keeping the straps in a hooped position, ready to slide into. Weight: 78g (2.8 oz) Item: KS 01 Knee Straps (1 pair)

Ideal for instructors or schools that have multiple users per boat; is suitable for all levels of paddlers from novice to expert. The anchor point has 9" of travel, a heavy duty metal slider, and includes a 30" strap, double-tacked at the end to retain the buckle. Weight: 97g (3.4 oz) Item: AA 09 (1 pair)
