How is it done?

Start Publisher

Start/Programs/Microsoft Office/Microsoft Office Publisher 2010, or click on the Publisher icon on taskbar Click on the Close icon (Red X) on title bar on top right hand side of screen, or click on File ribbon tab/Choose Exit Open Publisher/from Available Templates screen choose Blank Page Sizes/Choose Size/and double click on it Press F9 to toggle between zoom size options Grey area around page that can be used for a temporary storage area Click on Save icon from Standard Toolbar/Choose your location/key in filename/Save From any ribbon tab except File, click on Open button on Quick Access Toolbar/Navigate to folder location/Double click on filename, OR From File tab/Click on Open and navigate to folder location/Double click on filename, then click on Open File on screen – check in Print Preview then click on the Print button on Quick Access Toolbar (or File/Print) select your options/OK Key [Ctrl W] or click on File ribbon tab /choose Close

From Insert tab, click Shapes, select Line/Arrow type, eg then draw your line in the publication. Use SHIFT to keep the line straight. Select line/arrow and from the Drawing Tools Format tab/Click Shape Outline button/Click to select a different style of arrow. Click on Insert tab/Click on Shapes button and select shape required. Click on desired shape then click and drag shape on your publication. Drag into position and resize if required. Click on Page Design tab, click on Background. Click on colour, pattern or background of your choice. Click Page Design tab/Click Guides arrow and select Grid and Baselines guides/Select number of Baseline Guides Click on Insert tab/Select from icons or click on to launch the dialogue box/Click on folder/Category required/Select and insert object required From Insert/Shapes/Draw a rectangle shape around your page or object, then from Format tab, click Shape outline button, click and select More Lines and BorderArt from the window that appears. Select BorderArt choice and adjust Weight if necessary. Click on the object you want bordered, eg Text Box, ClipArt. Enter category required – click on Go Double click on the picture you want to select, or click on down arrow key and choose Insert - Drag into position and resize if required. Click in the text box where you want the columns/Select text and then click Text Box Format tab/Click on Columns icon arrow/Select number of columns. If formatting required to columns - go to Columns arrow /More Columns/Type in the required number of columns and spacing between the columns. Click on your picture or ClipArt object. Access the Picture Tools Format tab/Select the Crop button . Drag across the unwanted area of your picture and these parts will be cut off. File/Print /Printer drop down arrow/Advanced Output Settings/Marks and Bleeds tab/Tick the box beside Crop Marks - OK Choose a blank page/ Page Design tab/Size arrow/Create New Page size/Key in new paper width and height size/Adjust margins to suit new size, select layout type – click on OK Click on Insert tab/select from icons or click on to launch the dialogue box/Click on folder/category required/Select and insert object required Select character, Text Box Format tab/Drop Cap – choose options - OK Select the text box and position the cursor to insert the file. Select Insert ribbon tab and Insert File, locate the file and click on OK. Click on Object to be flipped. Click on Picture Tools Format tab/Click on Rotate icon arrow and select relevant option. Highlight text with formatting applied/go to Home tab/Click once on Format Painter to reproduce formatting features on other text by clicking and dragging over text or double click on Format Painter to apply to text more than once /Click on Format Painter icon to turn off feature Right click on Text Box and select Format Text Box. Then click on the Text Box tab and choose Columns. Type in the required spacing between the columns to either increase or decrease the spacing/Click on OK and then OK again Click on or type [F1] to access Help. Type in keyword in text frame at top right of Help dialogue box and press ENTER Click on Insert tab/Select Footer Click Page Design Tab/Click Guides arrow and select Grid and Baselines guides/Select number of Grid Guides Create objects/Select object/Hold down shift key and select next object – continue until all objects are selected then click on the Group icon, or select Picture Tools Format tab/Select Group Click on Insert tab/Select Header

Click on Insert tab, Table arrow /Enter the number of rows or columns required either with the mouse or via Insert Table. Is similar to a window and allows you to select and alter publications in Publisher – appears as a default on the left hand side on a Microsoft Publication – different task pane with different functions – can be turned on or off by clicking on close icon on top right of Task Pane. Pre-designed publications – Select File tab/Choose New – select from Available Templates any category of template and follow screen prompts to complete your publication Create or open the publication that you want to use as a template. On the File tab, click Save As. In the Save As type box, click Publisher Template. Note The destination folder changes to the default template location (C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates) - In the File name box, type a name for the template - Click Save.

If dotted icon appears to right of text box indicating text box is full, in Linking Tools, click Create Link/then pour text into the next text box with mouse click. If that text box is full, repeat the process of linking with the next text box. Select text frame, CONTROL + T Select text box/Text Box Tools Format tab/Alignment/Align Centre Use this option for adjusting the space for a highlighted block of text. Select clipart and from Picture Tools Format tab/Click on Recolour arrow and choose a washed out colour. Right click on the picture/Choose Send Backward/Choose Send to Back. If required select text frames – and then press Control + T (to make text frames transparent), OR Insert Clipart of your choice – right click on clipart and select Format Picture/Picture tab/Click on Recolour and change to soft grey – click on OK and OK again. Draw your text box, key in text required – move to place over the watermark Click on Insert tab/Click on WordArt arrow , select the desired style then type your text. Drag into position and resize if required.
