What is Candida? • Benign sugar-fermenting yeast are normal inhabitants found in various parts of the body. • In small amounts, this yeast is an integral part of our ecology and when kept in balance it does no harm. • Candidiasis is when a yeast strain known as Candida albicans overgrows to the point that it becomes a medical problem.

Candida Albicans

• Most people are aware of thrush or common yeast infections; however, there are many types of yeast which can affect different parts of the body. Yeast problems can occur in both males and females.

- 3 -

Microbial Cleansing

How Does Candida Occur? • With candidiasis, normally harmless yeast multiply, colonize, change form, and take root in tissues. • What is often unrecognized is that this yeast starts in the digestive tract. When the friendly gut bacteria that normally control Candida die off, Candida gains the upper hand and when it does, problems result. • The overgrowth needs to be controlled in the gut or the yeast may become systemic, enter the bloodstream and travel throughout the body.

- 4 -

Microbial Cleansing

What Causes an Imbalance? The ideal ratio of yeast to good bacteria in the body is one yeast organism to one million bacteria. Many factors can affect this balance: • Age (as we get older, our populations of good bacteria naturally decline) • Birth control pills • Chemotherapy • Damp moldy environments • Dietary factors (mainly sugar, alcohol, refined carbohydrates and yeast-promoting foods) • Exposure to toxic metals • Immune dysfunction • Ingestion of certain drugs (such as acid blocking drugs, antibiotics, and corticosteroids) • Internal toxins from poor digestion • Stress • Disruption of intestinal pH - 5 -

Microbial Cleansing

How Does Candida Affect Health? • Yeasts are parasitic organisms that take food from us. • They have been found to produce over 70 known toxins. • When Candida grows from its yeast form into a fungal form, it creates waste products known as ‘mycotoxins’. Among the mycotoxins produced is ‘acetaldehyde’. • Acetaldehyde is a poison that is converted by the liver into alcohol and can lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver. • This conversion of acetaldehyde to alcohol is the reason most people with Candida get ‘brain fog’, which is one of the most common symptoms. They can feel ‘drunk’ from their own personal, internal distillery.

- 6 -

Microbial Cleansing

Mild Symptoms In the initial stages of the process, symptoms of Candida overgrowth may be mild including: • Athletes foot • Bad breath • Blurred vision • Brain fog • Chemical sensitivity • Depression • Fatigue • Food sensitivities and allergies • Headaches • Insomnia • Joint pain and muscle pain

• Mood swings • Fungal nail infections • Persistent bloating and gas • PMS • Recurring bladder infections • Chronic vaginal yeast infections in women or jock itch in men • Sinus problems • Sugar cravings • Thrush

One symptom alone may not point to Candida but multiple symptoms may be a sign that Candida is present. - 7 -

Leaky Gut Syndrome • In its fungal form, Candida grows long roots called ‘rhizoids’ that puncture the intestinal lining leading to a condition called Leaky Gut Syndrome. • Like a hole in a screen door that lets flies and mosquitoes through, suddenly the bloodstream is open to toxins, pathogens, and undigested food—all considered foreign to the body. • The immune system responds by launching a defensive attack, which produces inflammation and can trigger food allergies and sensitivities. • When Candida toxins leak through into the bloodstream, they can proceed to any organ in the body.

Chronic Conditions As mycotoxins become abundant in the body, more serious and chronic conditions can develop including: • Chronic fatigue syndrome • Crohn’s disease and Colitis • Diabetes • Fibromyalgia • Lupus • Multiple sclerosis • Rheumatoid arthritis • Skin disorders Toxins tend to settle in the organs and tissues of greatest weakness. As everyone has different areas of genetic or acquired weakness, individuals can manifest symptoms of Candida differently. - 13 -

Candida Cleansing with CandiGONE • CandiGONE is a 2 part, 15 day broad spectrum antifungal and antibacterial herbal cleanse that targets the many different types of yeast organisms. • Yeast is a pleomorphic organism, which means it can change form. Just as certain bacteria become antibiotic resistant, yeast can become antifungal resistant. By using more than one type of antifungal, yeast is not likely to adapt. • CandiGONE 1 is a powerful antifungal and antibacterial herbal formula delivered in vegetable capsules. CandiGONE 2 is a liquid tincture containing antifungal and antibacterial herbal extracts. • The liquid tincture and capsules are taken together to ensure Candida is addressed throughout the body. • CandiGONE is easy to take and can be repeated without concern that the yeast may become resistant to the herbs. • As with any cleansing program, the first few days may bring on some discomfort, therefore it’s best to start this program slowly at half strength for the first few days in order to help the body adjust. - 14 -

Microbial Cleansing

Candida Cleansing with CandiGONE Ideal for people who have symptoms of Candida such as: • Athlete’s foot • Brain fog • Fatigue and low energy • Fungal infections • Persistent gas and bloating (especially at night away from food)

• Persistent sinus problems or post nasal drip • Sugar cravings • Weight issues • Yeast infections in women or jock itch in men

Since Candida can affect both men and women, it can be passed between partners. If one partner is treating Candida, it is wise that the other do the same. Microbial Cleansing The support products for both Candida and parasites are the same so they will be discussed after parasites and ParaGONE.

- 19 -

Microbial Cleansing

What Are Parasites? • Parasites are defined as ‘any organism that lives on, or in, the body of another organism’. • Parasites which live inside the human body feed off cells, the host’s food, and supplements. They also deposit waste into the body. • Parasites can live anywhere in the human body and can affect many systems. Ridding the body of parasites is extremely important for good health.

- 20 -

Microbial Cleansing

Types of Parasites There are two major groups of parasites: Protozoa and Worms. Protozoa • Protozoa are single-celled parasites. Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and Blastocystis are some of the most common. When ingested, they germinate, reproduce and cause illness. Worms • Worms (also called Helminths) are multicellular forms of parasites with specialized organs. There are 2 basic groups: Roundworms & Flatworms. • Roundworms (Nematodes) include whipworm, hookworm, and pinworm. They are often described as a tube within a tube and can vary in size from 1mm to over 1m in length. • Flatworms (Platyhelminthes) consist of two classes; the Trematoda (flukes) and the Cestodes (tapeworms). They are evolutionarily more primitive than the nematodes. Most species are flattened dorsoventrally (hence flatworms) and trematodes are usually leaf shaped. They range in size from microscopic to one hundred feet long.

- 21 -

Microbial Cleansing

Giardia and Cryptosporidium • Giardia and Cryptosporidium are microscopic parasites that can be found in water. • Giardia causes an intestinal illness called giardiasis or “beaver fever” and Cryptosporidium is responsible for a similar illness called cryptosporidiosis. • The Public Health Agency of Canada states that the prevalence of Giardia in temperate climates is 2-10% in adults and 25% in children. In tropical countries, 50-80% of people are carriers. • According to one report from Ontario, Canada showed an incidence rate of 25.8 cases per 100,000 population between 1990 and 1998. • Infection with Giardia or Cryptosporidium can result in both acute and chronic health problems. These are only two examples of the many types of parasites one could be carrying.

- 22 -

Microbial Cleansing

How Do We Get Parasites? A common assumption regarding parasites is that a person can only get them if they travel to tropical climates or eat undercooked meat. Unfortunately this is not the case. Parasites can enter the body through the mouth, the nose or the skin. Not everyone gets parasites. Whether or not a person is affected is based on the host’s immune status, the parasite’s infectivity and the degree of exposure. Humans can get parasites from the following sources: Contaminated fruits and vegetables • It is important to ensure fruits and vegetables are thoroughly cleaned. • Adequate HCl in the stomach will destroy most parasites and parasitic eggs that may have been accidentally swallowed with food. Since many people are low in HCl, supplementation is necessary. Contaminated soil • Parasites can enter via the skin if walking barefoot where parasites live. This occurs most frequently in sand or soil where animals urinate and defecate. For this reason, wearing shoes is important. • Wearing gloves while gardening is also a good way to protect against soil-based parasites. - 23 -

Microbial Cleansing

How Do We Get Parasites? Raw or rare meat • Although the risk of tapeworm infection is generally low in Canada, fish tapeworm infections seem to have become more frequent in recent years. • This increase may be due to the popularity of sushi or the preference for lightly cooked fish, particularly salmon. • Only freshwater fish become infected with larvae. Salmon can • acquire the parasites before they leave their native lakes and rivers for the sea. If fish are going to be eaten raw, they should first be well frozen or salted to kill the larvae. Pets • Many people allow their pets to sleep on their beds. • According to numerous holistic practitioners, people who have pets in their beds should do a parasite cleanse every 6 months.

- 24 -

Microbial Cleansing

How Do We Get Parasites? Mosquitoes or other insects • Malaria is the most well-known type of parasite, which is spread through mosquitoes. • Flies carry over 1 million bacteria on their feet. Unclean water • Giardia and amoebas can be ingested by drinking water from rivers or streams. Contact with someone who has parasites • Poor hygiene and not properly washing hands after going to the bathroom is the most common cause. • Eating out can also be a source of parasitic infection and illness. • This is dependent on how sanitary the restaurant conditions are.

- 25 -

Microbial Cleansing

Other Factors That Increase Parasite Suceptibility There are many ways to weaken the immune system, which can leave a person more susceptible to parasitic infestation. • Antibiotics reduce good bacteria. Adequate friendly bacteria in the intestinal tract is essential to help crowd out parasites and prevent them from attaching to the intestinal wall. • Refined carbohydrates feed parasites and candida. • Poor digestion and elimination allow toxins to accumulate in the digestive tract. This sets up an ideal breeding environment for parasites. • Low fibre diet will allow toxins, parasites and their waste to stay in the body. Toxins are absorbed by fibre and eliminated through the colon. Fibre acts like a janitor to soak up and sweep out toxins, waste and dead parasites. • Nutritional deficiency does not provide the body with the vitamins and minerals needed for healthy functions, including digestion. Specific nutrients stimulate the body’s production of HCl, such as Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) and Magnesium. • Stress has a negative impact on the strength of the immune system. Stress has been shown to lower a person’s immune defenses. - 26 -

Microbial Cleansing

Parasite Symptoms Parasites can get into the blood and travel to almost anywhere in the body. This can cause health issues that are not often recognized as parasite related. Areas where parasites can live include: the liver, the lungs, the intestines, the blood, the heart, the brain, and the muscles. Over time, parasites can be a contributing factor in chronic diseases such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, asthma, edema, appendicitis, and possibly cancer. Signs and symptoms of parasite infestation include: • Diarrhea or constipation • Prostatitis • Digestive complaints such as gas, • Rectal itching bloating, and cramps • Ravenous appetite or loss of appetite • Irritable Bowel Syndrome, also known as IBS • Skin problems such as rashes or • Overall fatigue granulomas. Granulomas are tumour-like • Joint pain masses that encase parasites • Teeth grinding as parasites can affect the nervous system As with candida, parasites tend to affect the organs and tissues of greatest weakness so we may manifest different disorders in different areas of the body. - 27 -

Re-Establish Good Bacteria With Probiotics • Whether an individual is dealing with Candida or parasites, it is imperative to build up good bacteria. • Probiotics normally present a barrier to invading organisms. Candida and parasites occur when the good bacteria in the intestines are destroyed. As discussed, good bacteria are affected by stress, antibiotics, illness, use of the birth control pill, and poor lifestyle habits. • Probiotics help crowd out and directly fight off invading organisms. There is only so much room in the intestinal tract and the more ‘good guys’ present, the less room there is for the ‘bad guys’.

BoulardiiMAX • BoulardiiMAX is a probiotic supplement containing Saccharomyces boulardii, a non-colonizing yeast species. It is a non-pathogenic yeast strain and it is not related to the yeast group to which Candida albicans belongs. • Many human research studies have shown the benefits of Saccharomyces boulardii. Let’s review three key findings. 1. Saccharomyces boulardii has been shown to help treat serious bacterial infections such as Clostridium difficile (C. difficile). Saccharomyces boulardii suppresses bacterial infection in various ways; by inhibiting adhesion and/or overgrowth of bacteria, by producing a serine protease that cleaves C. difficile toxin A, and by stimulating antibody production against this toxin. 2. Saccharomyces boulardii increases the eradication rate of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria. This bacteria, commonly referred to as H. pylori, can cause heartburn, nausea, bloating, belching and in serious cases, peptic ulcers. New research shows that Saccharomyces boulardii is an effective addition to H. pylori treatment. It also helps to prevent diarrhea, which is a common side effect from standard H. pylori antibiotic treatment. 3. Saccharomyces boulardii effectively treats and prevents diarrhea, which can occur from antibiotic use, travelling, inflammation in the bowel, and parasites or bacterial infections. Ideal for those who: • Have C. difficile • Have H. pylori • Have diarrhea related to parasites, bacterial infections, antibiotic use, travelling or inflammation in the bowel

Fibre for Cleansing Support • As CandiGONE and ParaGONE kill off Candida and parasites in the body, toxins are produced as the organisms decompose. Fibre will help absorb these toxins and sweep them out of the body. • Taking fibre may also help reduce cleansing reactions such as headaches, brain fog, and flu-like symptoms. These symptoms may present when performing a microbial cleanse. • FibreSMART is a flax-based fibre that contains the proper ratio of roughly 50% soluble and 50% insoluble fibre. • FibreSMART will not swell, gel, or dehydrate the colon like psyllium-based fibre. • It also contains L-glutamine, which helps to restore the protective lining of the digestive tract. This is important as damage to the intestinal tract lining is likely present. • FibreSMART should be used as part of a cleansing program and for maintenance afterwards. • It is available in both powder and capsules.

- 36 -

Microbial Cleansing

DigestMORE HCl for Digestion and Food Sterilization • DigestMORE HCl is a plant-based enzyme formula with betaine hydrochloride. • As parasites cannot thrive when normal levels of hydrochloric acid are present, taking an enzyme formula with betaine hydrochloride can be a helpful preventative measure. DigestMORE HCl may help the body’s natural defense against parasites often found in food and water. It also works to optimize digestion. • DigestMORE HCl can be taken on an ongoing basis and is especially helpful when travelling, eating out in restaurants, and consuming raw foods such as sushi. • It should always be taken with food, otherwise it may trigger symptoms of heartburn.

- 37 -

IntestiNEW To Heal Leaky Gut • Both Candida and parasites cause major intestinal damage, therefore it is very important to work on healing the intestinal tract after completing a Candida or parasite treatment protocol. • IntestiNEW helps to rebuild and repair the intestinal tract lining, while also helping to reduce inflammation in the intestinal tract. • IntestiNEW contains a mix of anti-inflammatory and intestinal support ingredients. Let’s review the ingredients in this formula. Repair and rebuild the intestinal tract: • L-Glutamine – increases intestinal villous height, stimulates mucosal cell growth in the intestinal tract, and helps to maintain the mucosal cell integrity • N-Acetyl-Glucosamine – is required for tissue repair mechanisms Anti-inflammatory: • Ginger Root – strong anti-inflammatory properties • Marigold Flower- helps to alleviate mucous membrane inflammation Demulcent (soothing): • Marshmallow Root – alleviates local irritation and inhibits mucociliary activity Carminative: • Ginger Root – which expels gas from the stomach, intestines, or bowel Anti-Diarrhea: • Cranesbill Root – contracts blood vessels and helps to stop internal bleeding. This ingredient is helpful for diarrhea and chronic dysentery Enhances gastric & illeal movement: • Gamma Oryzanol

Quick Steps to Eradicate Candida and Parasites 1. Eliminate or minimize antibiotics, steroids, immune suppressing drugs, and oral contraceptives, only after consulting a primary health care provider. 2. Cleanse the system with CandiGONE (along with CandiZYME) or ParaGONE, depending on symptoms present. 3. Re-Establish good bacteria with probiotics such as Ultimate Flora Critical Care, Ultimate Flora Ultra Potent or Ultimate Flora VS. 4. Increase consumption of fibre with FibreSMART, which works to absorb and sweep out Candida and parasites. 5. Make dietary changes while cleansing in order to discourage the growth of Candida and parasites. Eliminate all sugar & sweeteners including fruit, fruit juices, carbohydrates and dairy products. Additionally, eliminate all fermented & moldy foods including alcohol, soy sauce, mushrooms, peanuts and vinegar (please note that apple cider vinegar is allowed). One is encouraged to consume plenty of vegetables and healthy sources of lean protein. 6. Drink plenty of water aiming for at least ½ an ounce of water per pound of body weight. For example, a 140 pound individual would divide their weight by two, which equals 70. This means that they would aim to consume 70 ounces per day, which is approximately 2 litres or 8 tall glasses of water. 7. Enhance digestion by eating a wholesome diet made up of plenty of raw foods. It is important to chew food thoroughly. To enhance digestion, one may also need to take digestive enzymes with meals such as DigestMORE. 8. Stay on probiotic and fibre supplements daily for maintenance. 9. Improve immune function by stimulating lymph flow through regular exercise and deep breathing.
