The Dutch Oil and Gas Sector The Netherlands has established itself as a pivotal player in the European gas market. The country is not only a major natural gas producer and the source of advanced gas technology; it is also Europe’s leading gas broker. Fifty years of experience in organizing public-private partnerships to manage the gas business turned the country into a European gas hub. The Dutch have unmatched capacity to cope with seasonal fluctuations in gas demand, providing northwestern Europe with much needed flexibility. In addition, the Netherlands is establishing itself as a leader in green gas. The Netherlands has globally relevant expertise in areas such as: oil and gas exploration; the design and fabrication of offshore equipment; pipe laying (vessels); (de)commissioning; and the transport and installation of offshore structures. The Netherlands has a large number of companies that service and support the oil and gas industry. The majority of them have joined forces under the Association of Dutch Suppliers in the Oil and Gas Industry (IRO). The IRO furthers the interests of 400 Dutch suppliers and service companies in the upstream oil and gas industry. Its members are involved in all activities relevant to the supply industry, such as: engineering; field development; pipeline installation; maintenance; and material and equipment supply/manufacturing, both onshore and offshore. You can find a directory of the members and the services & technology they offer at http://www.iro-noc.nl/index.php
