Voices fill the air. I’m more than just what you see. Leave not thy work unfinished. In the light of love everybody shines. If ya mope and groan something’s gotta give. Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us. It makes no difference if it’s sweet or hot, just give that rhythm everything you’ve got. Meditations, Celebrations, Music floating out to starlight. Any man can get where he wants to if he’s got some fire in his soul.Voices fill the air. I’m more than just what you see. Welcome! The 2010-2011 season has been resounding success for the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale! As always, our boys were fully occupied with rehearsals and performances. It is always inspiring to witness their growth throughout the year as musicians, individuals and an ensemble. I am pleased to share with you a few important developments that took place behind the scenes. Most importantly, we sold our current base of operations, “The Embassy” as it is affectionately coined, to expand our musical traditions in today’s modern environment. A new building in the Fairmont District was purchased with the revenue of the sale and renovations will begin this summer. The new facility will showcase the Choir’s exemplary music education programs, and it will provide room for needed growth. We will be sharing much more about this exciting project with you in the coming months. As this initiative progresses, we are maintaining our fiscal discipline in the midst of continuing uncertainty in the overall economy. Careful monitoring of the budget throughout the year and the creation of an operating reserve will ensure that we will remain on a sustainable fiscal course. All of this would not be possible without the close alignment of our governance, management, families, and generous supporters. Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale has weathered the economic downturn that continued throughout this season. In fact, we thrived in spite of it. This is an exciting time to be part of such a marvelous organization. On behalf of the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale, we are grateful to our trustees, donors, volunteers, staff, and parents for their dedication. Thank you for joining us today, and enjoy the concert! Anne Hagan Executive Director

Dannis Winston, guest soloist In his young age, Dannis Winston is already positioned as a multi-faceted entertainer. Song stylist, songwriter, dancer, musician and Emcee are the highlights of his many talents, which sprung at an early age of three. Growing up he soaked in the sounds of Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Earth Wind and Fire. His formal training took shape when he was accepted into the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in Florida where he majored in voice. There he was a student of classical French, Italian, German, Spanish and Latin music. Winston then braved the move to NYC, auditioned for The New York Professional Performing Arts School and was accepted for Voice, Music, and Drama. “ I’ve always had a thing for characters and story which is why I then went to college for Acting.”With his preparatory studies completed at SUNY Purchase Acting Conservatoire, he is currently pursuing a BFA and Master’s in Music. In addition to his academic studies, his entertainment career comprises of singing alongside Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, Dionne Warwick, The O’Jays, Freddie Jackson and Jean Carne. He has also written songs for Sean Kingston, Melanie Fiona and Leona Lewis. Dannis is a true renaissance artist who currently works in many aspects of the entertainment field. “As an artist my greatest joy is to create and inspire, and I make sure everything I do reflects that” Although he has never worked directly with Teddy Pendergrass, Dannis has been exposed to him and the Philly sound in very recent years. He has recorded at Philly International where Pendergrass recorded his greatest works. As chosen by Teddy’s family, Dannis is honored to be a part of this tribute.
