MITSUI OUTLETPARK KLIA
Mitsui Fudosan Co.,Ltd.
Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. will embark on development of the tentatively named “Mitsui Outlet Park Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA),” the first outlet mall in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. By harnessing the full-advantages of our know-how in the development of commercial establishments, offices, residential properties, resort facilities, and distribution centers accumulated both at home and abroad, we intend to maximize the level and performance and make it the top outlet in Southeast Asia in terms of scale, tenants, and facilities management. Phase 1 of the plan is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2015. After that, floor space will be expanded first in 2018, with a final expansion in 2021 that will accommodate 260 shops. Many commercial facilities currently operate in Kuala Lumpur City and many more such facilities are in various stages of development and will start operations in the near future. On the other hand, the City, up until now, has had no outlet malls and brand stores are demanding the development of full-scale outlet malls. In response to such demand from our customers, we intend to establish a facility that meets branch-shop needs. Development of this facility is part of the “KLIA Aeropolis Project,” a redevelopment plan within the airport premises promoted by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB). Various facilities are scheduled for development in the future including a theme park, golf course, and hotel. We will conduct development in consideration of greenery and the environment that is appropriate as the gateway of KLIA, as the First Catalyst Project of this plan. In addition, these premises are located at an extremely high potential site which can target nearly 45 million people as the number of incoming and outgoing passengers to/from KLIA per year (expected in 2014) including the KL sphere (population of approx. 7.2 million people). This site offers excellent accessibility and visibility due to its location along the highway toward the KL urban area. Please positively consider your opening a branch-shop. In the future, we intend to actively develop commercial facilities in the Southeast Asian region such as Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand in addition to Malaysia. We will introduce these facilities once they appear in property form. We look forward to working with you in the future.
