PTO NEWS New Officers for 2015-2016 School Year:

Jill Rothrock Harke & Heidi Edwards --Co Leaders Jess Tipple --Treasurer June Erwin---Secretary Volunteer Coordinator---Jannel McCallum A huge thank you to all of our past leaders for their dedication and hard work. Thank you Deb Albee and Jennifer Trucco! We will miss your leadership but look forward to seeing you at the meetings! Teacher Appreciation Week --May 4-8th The week was a big success and we owe a huge thank you to Wendy Huft for organizing it! A big thanks to all the volunteers who are helped with food and other items for this special week! Our teachers and staff are certainly deserving for all that they do for our children. Can we ever thank them enough? First Annual Stettin Family Kickball Game--There were several families that took advantage of this family friendly competition. The kids won-enough said!! Thanks to Heidi Edwards, Tanya Pagel and Stacy Steinbach for organizing. Also, thanks to Ms. Ripp and Mr. Dzaidosz for providing staff support. School Supply Kits---A notice should have already come home regarding school supply kits for the 2015-2016 school year. This is not a fundraiser for the PTO but something we do to help parents get ready for the school year. Look for another notice coming home with final report cards. What is your PTO doing for our students, school and staff?  

Organized the spring book fair. Thanks for supporting this!

Sponsored and got volunteers for the ice cream social (part of the Art and Scholastic Night) 

Organized a family kickball event (May 16; 9-11 a.m.) suggested by two of our students. 

Continue to provide free popcorn once a month to all students who want it. 

Co-Leaders’ Report: Deb Albee and Jill Harke  PTO leadership roles o Co-leader - Heidi Edwards o Secretary/volunteer coordinator - June Erwin (secretary) nominated by Jennifer Trucco, Jannel McCallum (volunteer coordinator) o Treasurer - Jess Tipple nominated by Jennifer Trucco. Motion passed.  Thank You’s o Book Fair volunteers o Teacher Appreciation Week - Great response, potential for future growth. Request for list of teacher birthdays for celebration next year (with a few favorite ideas - Secret Santa information will be shared). Thanks to Wendy Huft and Suzanne Schroeder for coordinating! o Thank you to all families and individuals who helped make it a great event.  Wausau West scholarships: Thomas Lahren and Andrea Blomquist. Jennifer Trucco will attend the senior awards event to award the scholarships.  Thank you from Mrs. Halvorsen to the PTO for past work.  Book fair - great turnout in conjunction with art/academic fair. We will consider coordinating with another event in the fall as well. Half of the teachers were able to spend Scholastic Dollars, the remaining teachers may go online to purchase books with Scholastic Dollars. Principal’s Report: Kelly Halvorsen  End of the Year Celebrations - Bowling field trip to Dales Weston Lanes on June 2. Notes will be sent home to request shoe size. PTO funds to pay for part of bussing. Bowling costs will be covered by a grant.  On Wednesday, May 27th at 9am, there will be an all school assembly featuring a concert by The FigureHeads (HipHop - theme is making good decisions, family/friendship, finding your own voice).  Grades 3-5 students then have track meet (weather permitting).  Friday, May 29th is half-day. Variety Show will begin at 9:30.  June 9th is the last day of school (full day). Yearbooks will be handed out then.  Looking Ahead to 2015-16 o Open House: August 26th, Wednesday 4pm-6pm. o Welcome letter will be sent out with teacher assignments o Next year Stettin will go down by 2 sections. No layoffs or loss of full-time employees. Ms. Vogel will be moving to John Marshall Elementary, and Ms. Wahlquist is retiring and Ms. Langbecker will be going to Grant. There will be 2 sections of each grade level except 3rd, which will have 3 sections. At this time encore staffing will remain the same. Shared spaces / specialist areas will be readjusted.

Financial Report: Jennifer Trucco and Heidi Edwards 2015/2016 Budget changes Revenue this month - $85 from red/white folders. Expenses: Staff reimbursements Budgeted funds still to be spent : Bus from 4th grade trip, playground equipment, ice cream social 2015-16: Budget committee met, see Budget Committee Meeting minutes o Instead of fall fundraiser, asking for a flat donation per student of an additional $10. This additional amount, plus the expected fundraisers next year would fully fund the budget. o Budget approval motion from Jennifer Trucco, seconded by Heidi Edwards, approved. o Details regarding fundraising and donation collections at the open house will be further discussed by the executive committee during the summer.

Staff Report:  Track meet is coming up  Thank you to PTO for funding the bus to Madison: Capitol, Veterans’ Museum, Zoo  Thank you for all of the help with Kids On The Grow New Business:  School supply kits - Pick up in gym or classrooms - classrooms would be good, but will need to have a PTO person as a go-to for any issues/confusions.  Good turnout and fun at the First Annual Kickball - Lots of requests to do it again. Upcoming Stettin Events:  Stettin track meet - May 27 (rain date May 28)  5th graders - get those pictures in!  Variety Show - Friday, May 29 at 9:30 (half day of school)  Kiefer Swenson - Friday, June 5 (rain date Monday, June 8)  Weston Pool Safety Patrol Trip - June 8  5th Grade Celebration - Monday, June 8, 6:00pm  Last day of school - Tuesday, June 9  Open House: Wednesday, August 26, 4-6pm  First day of school - Tuesday, September 1  Next meeting - Tuesday, September 15

CLASSROOM CELEBRATIONS The following classes recently filled their “100 Chart”…that means there were 100 times that students were “caught” demonstrating amazing “Stettin Core Values” while working in their classrooms. Mr. Dziadosz’s Fourth Grade Class Celebrated with an extra recess! Ms. Meeks Kindergarten Class Celebrated with creating marshmallow creatures! Ms. Donlin’s Second Grade Class Celebrated with popping bubble wrap, marshmallows and toothpicks! Mrs. Ekiss’ Kindergarten Class Celebrated with an extra recess! Mrs. Graap’s First Grade Class Celebrated with bring in a toy for 15 minutes of playtime! Mrs. Gruber’s Second Grade Class Celebrated with ice cream sundaes and root beer floats! Ms. Vogel’s Third Grade Class Celebrated with stuff animal and movie day along with root beer floats! Ask your child to tell you about what they did to earn this celebration and how they chose their reward!
