and life everlasting in God. Paul asks the Thessalonians to pray for him as he spreads Christ’s message of love, so that he might be delivered from other nonbelievers anxious to do him harm. The apostle is confident in such prayer, just as he is confident in the everlasting support of Jesus and God the Father. And there’s that “everlasting” word again. The Sadducees, not buying the idea, ask Jesus an interesting— albeit meaningless—question about the status of married life at the Resurrection. He tells the non-believers that marriage isn’t an issue for the risen children of God. More importantly, he assures them that their ancestors do live on in God, even as evidenced by the Father’s words to Moses.

HANDBELLS! We are organizing a new multigenerational handbell group just for Christmas! All ages are welcome and no experience necessary, although if you read music it's all the better. Call (702) 806-8421 and tell us the best day of the week and time for you to meet. We will then choose the best time for everyone. Please leave your name/phone number.

PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Christ's followers were skeptical when He preached the reality of His Body and Blood as food and drink. St. John said, "many of His disciples withdrew and no longer went about with Him." Seeing this, Jesus asked the Twelve, "Do you also want to leave me?" Simon Peter did not understand any more than those who left Christ, but his loyalty was more firm. "Lord," he said, "to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life”. We have the "Word of Eternal Life" right here with us day and night in our Adoration Chapel. Do you have something you want to ask Him? There are several hours needing adorers. Please pick one for your personal hour with Him.

Peter Rapcia’s gifts and to share their sentiments about his ministry. So, we are providing a Parish-wide Survey for parishioners’ participation. The survey can be easily accessed by going to the Archdiocese’s web page (Archchicago.org) and clicking on “Departments” on the upper left of the page, then scrolling to “Ministerial Evaluation” to access our web page. There, in the middle of the page, find “360 Catholic Leadership review for priests” and click on your appropriate language. Then follow the instructions for anonymous participation.

It’s That Time Again – Only 48 Days to Go That is right, there are only 48 days until Christmas. And that means that the women and men of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will be at the doors of the Church the weekends of November 19-20 and November 26-27 with the St. J ohn Br ebeuf Christmas Gift-Sharing Program gift suggestion forms. Many families from the past years know that “Santa’s Workshop” is at St John Brebeuf and not at the North Pole. ALL GIFTS ARE TO BE RETURNED TO THE CHURCH THE WEEKENDS OF DECEMBER 3-4 AND DECEMBER 10-11. If you have any questions regarding the Christmas Gift-Sharing Program, please ask a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society or call the Parish Office. The Society wishes to say Thank You for the past 44 years that our parish has participated in this great project. For many individuals your Christmas present is the only one they receive – so, please NEW items only. Why should we speak out against abortion and euthanasia? Because Abraham Lincoln once said: "To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men." Our silence is giving the culture of death the upper hand. Stand up, and join pro-life. Let us continue to pray daily:“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”

St. Vincent de Paul Society November 6: Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time In today’s Gospel we find that God is a God of the living, and this is indeed the core of our hope. Jesus has risen and is with us, therefore, at no time should we be without hope for the future. When you give the furniture, household items and clothing you no longer use to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, you give hope to your neighbors who have nothing. Thank you for your generosity! Do you or a family you know need assistance? Please call the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that together we can help the suffering and poor. All information will be strictly confidential.
