Dear Parishioners, While it seems as if November 7th is a long time away, our Gala School fundraiser will be here before we know it. Last year, Gala raised over $92,000 for our school and allowed us to purchase our new science series and significantly upgrade our technology. Please check out our Gala website for a sneak peek at some of our auction items. You can find the website here: https://portal11.bidpal.net/Portal/bpe290985/main/home.html Take advantage of our Early Bird Special and buy your dinner tickets before October 4th and save $10 per ticket. If you'd like to get involved or learn more about Gala, feel free to contact Mike & Heather Tarjan (847) 9650813. 2015 Gala is 34 Days away!!! We hope to see all of our SJB parents attend the best party of the year! Congratulations to Deacon Larry and Jan Skaja who are going to be honored for their many years of service to SJB! Check us out on Facebook and at our web site www.sjbrebeuf.org! Thanks to John Jekot, Bonzie Allocco and the committee who worked on Oktoberfest. Rain on Friday did not get us down! We had a huge crowd on Saturday, with many alumni returning to see our parish and school. Sunday was a beautiful day and many came after mass! Pope Francis’ visit to the U.S. - Many things were said by him as I write this on Thursday morning, September 24….. “Moses provides us with a good synthesis of your work: you are asked to protect, by means of the law, the image and likeness fashioned by God on every human face. All of us are quite aware of, and deeply worried by, the disturbing social and political situation of the world today. Our world is increasingly a place of violent conflict, hatred and brutal atrocities, committed even in the name of God and of religion. We know that no religion is immune from forms of individual delusion or ideological extremism. This means that we must be especially attentive to every type of fundamentalism, whether religious or of any other kind. A delicate balance is required to combat violence perpetrated in the name of a religion, an ideology or an economic system, while also safeguarding religious freedom, intellectual freedom and individual freedoms. But there is another temptation which we must especially guard against: the simplistic reductionism which sees only good or evil; or, if you will, the righteous and sinners. The contemporary world, with its open wounds which affect so many of our brothers and sisters, demands that we confront every form of polarization which would divide it into these two camps. We know that in the attempt to be freed of the enemy without, we can be tempted to feed the enemy within. To imitate the hatred and violence of tyrants and murderers is the best way to take their place. That is something which you, as a people, reject. Our response must instead be one of hope and healing, of peace and justice.” “In recent centuries, millions of people came to this land to pursue their dream of building a future in freedom. We, the people of this continent, are not fearful of foreigners, because most of us were once foreigners. I say this

to you as the son of immigrants, knowing that so many of you are also descended from immigrants. Our world is facing a refugee crisis of a magnitude not seen since the Second World War….. We must not be taken aback by their numbers, but rather view them as persons, seeing their faces and listening to their stories, trying to respond as best we can to their situation. To respond in a way which is always humane, just and fraternal. We need to avoid a common temptation nowadays: to discard whatever proves troublesome. Let us remember the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Mt 7:12). This Rule points us in a clear direction. Let us treat others with the same passion and compassion with which we want to be treated. Let us seek for others the same possibilities which we seek for ourselves. Let us help others to grow, as we would like to be helped ourselves. In a word, if we want security, let us give security; if we want life, let us give life; if we want opportunities, let us provide opportunities. The yardstick we use for others will be the yardstick which time will use for us. The Golden Rule also reminds us of our responsibility to protect and defend human life at every stage of its development. Parish Annual Report--Wednesday, October 14, 6:00 p.m. All parishioners are invited, along with the parish leadership, to learn more about the pastoral and financial activity of the parish from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015--goals, accomplishments and challenges and the To Teach Who Christ Is Capital Campaign. Please come and learn more about your parish family! Enjoy a spaghetti dinner – 6:30 p.m. with meeting to follow at 7 p.m. Please RSVP, 847-966-8145. Father Mike Meany P.S. There was an error in last week’s bulletin. $7,200.00 was paid for the lower roof, not $72,000.00. I apologize for the error.

Praying the rosary together in front of the Blessed Sacrament gives many graces and is so peaceful.

PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Christ's followers were skeptical when He preached the reality of His Body and Blood as food and drink. St. John said, "many of His disciples withdrew and no longer went about with Him." Seeing this, Jesus asked the Twelve, "Do you also want to leave me?" Simon Peter did not understand any more than those who left Christ, but his loyalty was more firm. "Lord," he said, "to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." We have the "Word of Eternal Life" right here with us day and night in our Adoration Chapel. Do you have something you want to ask Him? There are several hours needing adorers. Please pick one for your personal hour with Him.

October 4-Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time: In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples, “Let the children come to me…for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” This week, please help the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to bring the love and mercy of Jesus to children who are hungry. Parish Office: (847) 966-8145 Email: [email protected] Conception is the beginning of human life. From the time that an ovum is fertilized a new life begins that is neither that of the father nor of the mother. It is rather the life of a new human being with his/her own humanity. It could never become human if it were not human already. Pray and work to end abortion and euthanasia. Let us continue to pray daily: “Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”

Podróż papieża Franciszka do Stanów Zjednoczonych. Wiele zostało powiedziane przez niego do czwartku 24 września z chwilą, kiedy to pisze: ”Mojżesz zapewnia nam dobrą syntezę waszej pracy: jesteście wezwani, aby chronić, za pomocą prawa obraz i podobieństwo ukształtowane przez Boga na każdym ludzkim obliczu. Wszyscy dobrze zdajemy sobie sprawę i jesteśmy głęboko zatroskani niepokojącą sytuacją społeczno-polityczną w dzisiejszym świecie. Jest on coraz bardziej miejscem gwałtownych konfliktów, nienawiści i brutalnych zbrodni, popełnianych nawet w imię Boga i religii.

(Mt 7,12).
