AAA Membership There are three levels of Membership – Classic, AAA Plus® and AAA Premier®. Please see the Membership Comparison chart on the next page for a breakdown of each level. AAA Plus RV® is also available as an addition to a AAA Plus membership and extends your roadside assistance benefits to include motor homes, travel trailers, motorcycles and pick-up trucks with campers (including fifth wheel campers) in areas where available. Membership eligibility, dues, fees, services and benefits are subject to change without notice.

Primary and Associate Members

The first person in a household who joins AAA is referred to as the Primary Member. An Associate Member is of legal driving age and resides in the same household as the Primary Member. Associate Members must have the same level of coverage as the Primary Member and receive the same benefits and services as the Primary Member. A maximum of six (6) associates are allowed per membership. An individual may only have one AAA membership.

Continuous Membership Coverage Option

If you elect to sign up for the AAA Auto Pay program, your credit card or debit card will automatically be billed each year for your annual membership dues then in effect. Each year before your membership expires, we will send a statement of your current services and renewal dues amount. You may cancel AAA Auto Pay any time by contacting AAA. Unless you contact us to make changes to or cancel AAA Auto Pay, AAA will automatically renew your membership and charge the dues shown on your statement to your credit/debit card on file approximately 10-15 days prior to your renewal date.

Upgrading Your Membership

Every Classic member is eligible to upgrade to AAA Plus, Plus RV or Premier. Please note that when you upgrade, you will be upgrading for everyone on your membership. Upgrades to AAA Plus, Plus RV or Premier become effective in seven (7) calendar days once paid in full. 1 11

Automotive Emergency Services Roadside Assistance is available to members 24- hours a day, seven days a week throughout the United States and Canada. It is designed to assist you in an emergency when the vehicle in which you are either the driver or a passenger becomes disabled.

Requesting Service

Need us NOW? Help is only a phone call away. If in the local Tidewater area, call (757) 631-1700, or nationally call 800-AAA-HELP. These numbers connect you to AAA’s 24-hour customer care center, which is open to take your calls and to dispatch help every day of the year. A staff member will dispatch a service vehicle or tow truck to assist you when you call. For faster service, please have your membership card on hand. You will need to provide the following information: • Your name, AAA membership number and renewal date • Club Name: AAA Tidewater Virginia • Club Code: 258 • Year, make and color of vehicle • Problem with vehicle • Location of vehicle (address, nearest cross street, city) Calls placed to our 24-hour call center may be recorded for better service quality and to assist in addressing member concerns. Please call and cancel your service request if you no longer need assistance. You can also request Roadside Assistance online at AAA.com. Click on the Road Service Online link and follow the on-screen instructions. This service is valuable for members at home, at the office or at school who are not in an emergency situation on the side of the road. Membership Card is Your Key to Service

To receive Roadside Assistance, you must present your AAA Tidewater membership card or dues receipt to the service provider when the service vehicle arrives. A driver’s license or other form of matching photo identification also will be required. AAA Tidewater memberships are not transferable and membership service is only available to the person named on the membership card, who is the driver of or a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the vehicle disablement. Unless a valid membership card and identification are presented at the time of service, you will be expected to pay for the service provided at commercial rates.

Allowable Roadside Assistance Calls

AAA members are each entitled to four (4) emergency roadside assistance calls or reimbursements within one membership year at no additional charge, provided the calls meet the conditions described in this Member Guide. After that, a service charge applies for each additional service call or reimbursement. While each member of multiple member households is entitled to four (4) calls, calls may not be combined to allow one member of the household more than four calls. Emergency roadside assistance is not to be used as a substitute for proper vehicle maintenance.

Check Acceptance

Your personal check for up to $250 will be accepted nationwide by any independent contract facility providing emergency services or repairs for AAA members. A valid membership card in your name must be presented and your name must be printed on the check.

Roadside Assistance Guidelines Mechanical Adjustments

Minor/temporary adjustments may be made in an attempt to enable your vehicle to operate safely under its own power. These adjustments cannot be guaranteed, and members should immediately proceed to a repair facility to consult a mechanic.

Battery Boost

A battery boost will be provided in an attempt to start your vehicle.

AAA Battery Service

In selected areas, when a AAA member calls for assistance or submits a request online and the problem is believed to be battery related, a mobile battery replacement vehicle may be dispatched. A trained specialist will test the battery and vehicle charging system. If the battery needs to be replaced, the member can request to purchase one, and the specialist will install one, if available, on the spot. If the member purchases a battery, the service call will not count as one of the member’s four allowable service calls per membership year. All batteries come with a 72-month limited warranty with a 36-month free replacement period valid in the U.S. and Canada. AAA Battery Service is generally provided by independent contractors and is only available in select areas, during select hours. Batteries and battery warranties are provided by independent suppliers. Batteries are available for most makes and models. Battery prices vary depending on vehicle make and model. Copies of the warranties are available for inspection from the technician at any time upon request. Membership Roadside Assistance terms and conditions apply.

Flat Tire

If your vehicle’s spare is inflated and serviceable, it will be installed to replace a flat tire, if possible. If no inflated spare is available, or cannot be installed, the vehicle will be towed in accordance with the towing benefits of your membership. 5

Fuel Delivery

If your vehicle runs out of fuel, a limited supply of fuel will be delivered if available, to enable you to reach the nearest service station. Specific brands or octane ratings cannot be promised. Classic members will be charged the current pump price for the fuel (Plus and Premier members do not pay for fuel). In some cases, your vehicle may have to be towed if it runs out of fuel. Vehicles requiring diesel fuel will be towed.

Vehicle Locksmith and Lockout Service

If your keys are locked inside your vehicle passenger compartment, a service person dispatched by AAA will attempt to gain entrance to your vehicle. If the vehicle key is lost or broken or the service provider cannot gain entry, AAA Tidewater shall provide locksmith service or reimbursement of commercial locksmith service up to $60 (or up to $100 for Plus and Plus/RV members) for parts and labor, if such service is required to unlock your vehicle or make it operable. If necessary, AAA Tidewater will also provide tow service. Registered owner must be with vehicle for locksmith service.

Extrication/Winching

If your vehicle becomes stuck, one normally equipped service vehicle and one driver will be provided to extricate or winch your vehicle when it can be safely reached from a normally traveled road or established thoroughfare. Extrication of vehicles parked on streets, driveways, parking lots or alleys which are snowbound or flooded is not covered under AAA membership. Service does not include shoveling snow from around a vehicle or cleaning a road or driveway. If special equipment, more than one service vehicle or more than one person is required, the associated costs may be at your expense. AAA Plus and AAA Premier members will be provided up to two drivers and two service vehicles, if needed, at no additional charge. For extrication or winching of an RV or motorcycle, only members with AAA Plus RV or AAA Premier RV will be provided up to two drivers and two service vehicles, if needed, at no additional charge.

Towing Services

When your vehicle cannot be started or safely driven, due to a breakdown, accident or other covered vehicle disablement, it will be towed back to the facility of the service provider providing the tow, or up to five miles from the point of disablement to a destination of your choice, at no additional charge. (Not all service providers perform repairs at their facility). Should you choose to have your vehicle towed beyond five miles from the point of breakdown and not back to the service provider providing the tow, a per-mile charge will apply for members. Additional towing benefits apply to AAA Plus, Plus RV and AAA Premier. See Membership Comparison chart for details. In instances when your vehicle becomes disabled while towing a light-duty trailer, service will be provided for the trailer at 6 14

your expense.

Eligible Vehicles

Service applies to all private, properly licensed four-wheel motor driven vehicles of the passenger, pleasure or recreational type (van, campers and motor homes) if these services can be safely delivered with normal automobile servicing equipment including wheel-lift devices, car carrier (flat bed) and dolly wheels. Dual-wheel campers, motor homes and motorcycles are not eligible for tire service, extrication/winching or towing service for members. Full coverage for these vehicles and travel trailers (including tire service on dual-wheel RV’s) is available for AAA Plus/RV members. Rented passenger vehicles are eligible for all service except locksmith service. Commercial vehicles are eligible for service with the exclusion of taxi cabs, limousines and other vehicles-for-hire.

Scope of Service

For each member’s four allowable service calls per membership year, roadside assistance will be provided at no additional charge to the nearest available AAA contract facility or AAA Car Care Center, subject to the conditions in this Membership Guide. Your service call will include a trip to the disabled vehicle and a reasonable amount of time at the scene to make your vehicle operable. We select Independent service provider facilities for their ability to handle service calls, but we cannot guarantee that these facilities, or the AAA Car Care Centers, will always have the parts and the equipment to make immediate repairs. In most areas, facilities are independent businesses and are not employees of AAA or its affiliates. While responsibility for loss, damage or unsatisfactory workmanship remains with the independent service provider, AAA Tidewater will attempt to assist in resolving complaints. Member complaints should be made as soon as possible and before additional repairs are made. Failure to do so may limit our ability to assist. Outside the AAA Tidewater territory, members are entitled to Roadside Assistance from the local AAA or Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) club servicing the area. Members will be required to pay the service provider for any service that the local AAA or CAA club does not normally provide its members. During severe weather conditions, heavy traffic, civil disturbances or national emergencies, service may be temporarily delayed or suspended.

Limitations

AAA service is designed to render assistance during emergencies. Roadside Assistance covers the member, not the vehicle. Service is provided to members who were riding with or driving any vehicle covered under their membership limits at the time of breakdown. Service will be rendered when the member is with the vehicle, unless the member is unable to do so due to extenuating circumstances and a AAA supervisor has given prior approval for the car to be serviced without the member present. It is not practical to have a service technician search for a vehicle’s owner nor are they authorized to do so. Vehicles requiring diesel fuel will be towed. 7 15

Members must present a valid membership card and identification in order to receive service. If the card is not available as proof of membership, the service provider will require full payment at commercial rates. Save your receipts for reimbursement consideration. Service does not include the cost of parts or labor necessary to complete repairs. These are the car owner’s responsibility. AAA Tidewater cannot guarantee the availability of repair service at the service provider facilities after regular business hours or on weekends. Service technicians are required to exercise care and judgment when extricating or towing a vehicle. However, if in their judgment, the vehicle cannot be safely reached or unavoidable damage may occur, service may not be provided or the member may be required to sign a liability release form for physical damage before service is rendered. Service is provided only to properly registered vehicles with valid tags and that are not loaded, altered or constructed in such way as to cause damage or create a hazard when being serviced. Towing is not provided for vehicles ordered towed by the police for alleged violations of the law. AAA Tidewater does not provide convenience towing, that is, to a junk yard or to a dealer for trade-in-purposes or in connection with a purchase, sale, auction transaction, car show exhibition, charitable donation, relocation or any other similar situation. AAA does not tow vehicles for the purpose of price shopping. In most instances, AAA will tow your vehicle to a facility that can repair your vehicle. Should your vehicle be unable to be repaired at the facility where it has been taken, AAA will tow your vehicle to another destination of your choosing, subject to the limits of your membership. An individual’s membership may not be used by a business or organization to provide roadside assistance service for its customers, employees or vehicles. Without limiting any other rights it may have, AAA Tidewater may seek reimbursement from a member or associate for roadside assistance services fraudulently or wrongfully obtained by the member or associate. Primary members are responsible for the conduct and service demands of their associates.

Snow/Flooded Conditions

Service may not be rendered to vehicles snowbound or in flooded areas. Digging or towing a car out of a snow bank or rendering service to cars on unplowed/flooded driveways or streets is not considered to be Emergency Roadside Assistance. In addition, the installation or removal of chains or snow tires is not covered.

Ride Assist

If you are a AAA Premier member and have an accident or breakdown, a AAA representative can help you make rental car or other transportation arrangements.

Accident Assist

AAA Premier members can receive verbal assistance at the time of an accident or breakdown. When you call for Roadside 8 10

Assistance, a AAA representative can help you contact family members, locate restaurants and find hotel accommodations.

Alternate Service

If you have followed the procedure outlined to obtain roadside assistance and AAA service is not available, you may obtain your own service and pay for it as one of your four allowable service calls or reimbursements per membership year. Call AAA Tidewater to request an ERS Reimbursement form and submit along with the original receipt to AAA Tidewater within 90 days of service. A written explanation should be included along with your membership number. Reimbursement will be issued, up to the limits of your membership, based upon the prevailing commercial rate for the region where the vehicle was disabled. In instances where service provider access is legally restricted (toll roads and limited access highways), reimbursement for an allowable call will be provided in full for a tow back to the station providing service, a tow to the next exit or if the member elects to be towed elsewhere, for the first 5 miles of the tow. AAA Plus and Plus/RV members will be reimbursed for towing up to 100 miles. In cases where a member obtains his/her own service despite the availability of AAA service, reimbursement for allowable calls may be limited to what AAA Tidewater would have paid an independent service provider to provide service had AAA service been utilized. For lockout reimbursement, see information under Vehicle Locksmith and Lockout Service. Members receive 20% off the cover price on all retail publications. Both AAA Plus and AAA Premier members receive free international maps published by AAA.

AAA Travel Agency

Full service travel agency benefits are available from AAA Travel, with member-only benefits on select cruise or land vacations. A processing fee applies to airline or rail reservations. International driving permits (IDPs) and discounted passport photos are also available at your local AAA branch.

Travel Accident Insurance

AAA Premier members automatically receive $300,000 in travel accident insurance coverage at no cost when they purchase airline, ship, bus or train tickets through AAA Travel. Certain terms, conditions and exclusions apply. Insurance coverage is underwritten by the Federal Insurance Company.

Hertz® Car Rentals

AAA members receive a free Hertz Gold™ membership with 675 Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Bonus points, after the first Gold rental, enough for one free rental day. AAA Premier members receive 1,100 Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points, after the first Gold rental, enough for two free weekend rental days. Advance reservations are required and subject to availability. There is no charge for additional drivers who are AAA members meeting standard rental qualifications. Your Hertz/ AAA CDP ID # is 258. Reservations can be made at your local AAA branch or online at AAA.com/Hertz.

Automotive Car Care Centers

AAA Tidewater Virginia owns and operates six, full-service Car Care Centers throughout the Hampton Roads area for your automotive repair and maintenance needs. AAA members receive a 10% discount on labor rate for all regularly priced services, free tire repair services, free 40-point vehicle maintenance inspections upon request with any paid service, free battery inspection and $25 off 10 12

AAA batteries with free installation of such batteries for most vehicles. We offer $12 state inspections and priority service status for members when possible. Restrictions may apply. Call your local Car Care Center for details.

AAA Approved Auto Repair Facilities

Each facility in the AAA Approved Auto Repair (AAR) network has been inspected, certified and approved by AAA Tidewater Virginia in accordance with AAA standards. All repairs are guaranteed by the facility for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first under normal operating conditions. Each facility has agreed to accept the decision of AAA Tidewater Virginia in the event a member has concerns regarding service.

Vehicle Inspection Program

AAA members can bring their vehicle to any AAA Car Care Center or participating AAR facility to receive a comprehensive 86-point inspection using standards and procedures developed by AAA. For a fee, the facility’s technicians will thoroughly inspect the engine, transmission, suspension, drive axles, electronic system and more. See a Car Care Center or AAR facility for details and scope of vehicle inspection.

AAA Car Buying Service

The AAA Car Buying Service provides an easy-to-use, no-hassle car buying experience and, with the available research tools, the confidence that members are getting a great deal from a certified dealer on new and pre-owned vehicles. The free AAA Car Buying Service allows members to research vehicles, obtain average price paid by others and find dealers in the area ready to provide a no-hassle car buying experience. To buy a new or pre-owned vehicle, visit us online at AAA.com/CarBuy, or call your AAA local branch to find the nearest certified dealer. AAA Car Buying Service is managed by TrueCar, Inc. Driver Improvement Classes

As a member of AAA, you’ll automatically receive Tidewater Traveler magazine six times a year. An annual subscription to this magazine is included in your membership dues.

Most AAA Driver Improvement Classes are held onsite at our local Corporate office at 5366 Virginia Beach Blvd. in Virginia Beach. Call 757-233-3887 for class schedules and registration. Online classes are also available at AAA.com/DriverImprovement. AAA members receive discounted rates on all classes.

Defensive Driving Clinic/Point Reduction Classes This program is aimed at reducing traffic crashes and tickets. This program meets all the requirements of the Department of Motor Vehicles for point reduction, and satisfies court requirements in the State of Virginia. Attendance in AAA’s driver improvement class will help increase a driver’s understanding of the concept of risk by explaining the skills associated with Seeing, Communicating, Adjusting Speed, Margin of Safety and Driving Emergencies.

Senior Defensive Driving Classes (For those 55 years and over)



AAA’s Senior Defensive Driving course is a two-day, four- hour per day class designed to reduce crashes involving mature drivers by increasing the understanding of how age affects driving decisions, and how these decisions can alter your risk. Popular discussion topics include improved vehicle technologies, changes in the law and the problem of aggressive drivers. Drivers who complete this class may be eligible to receive a discount on a portion of their auto insurance.
