Mekong Quilts

is a non-profit income generating project of NGO Mekong Plus. Founded in 2001 Mekong Quilts offers sustainable employment to poor women and supports community development programs in remote rural regions of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Mekong Quilts specializes in high quality, hand crafted bedcovers. Quilt styles range from traditional to contemporary using patchwork, piecing and various stitching techniques.

Mekong Plus Mekong Plus, from Belgium and France, is the parent NGO of Mekong Quilts. Its aim is integrated community development focusing on the poorest, earning less than half a dollar per person per day. Mekong Plus only works with a community when everyone is involved, thus enabling them to lead low cost, sustainable actions with everyone’s participation. The actions are varied including micro-credit, agricultural techniques, training of para-veterinarians, protection of the environment and forests, development of employment through handicraft, fair trade. The programs located in 2 provinces and 5 districts in Vietnam and in one province in Cambodia cover more than 500 villages with a total of half a million beneficiaries. In Belgium and in France, teams of volunteers and supporters organize several events every year to raise funds and awareness for the programs.
