Meeting Summary TRANSPORTATION FORUM July 1, 2015 @ 12:00 pm GDOT Room 401 & 402 1. Welcome and Introductions: Mario Macrina – Wolverton & Associates 2. Meg Pirkle: GDOT Chief Engineer Ms. Pirkle gave the following updates: GDOT has released a new campaign (Drive Alert, Arrive Alive”. The goal of this statewide safety campaign is to educate drivers about how making simple changes in their driving behavior can prevent crashes and save lives. Funding from HB 170 is anticipated to generate revenue starting in January 2016. The funds will be focused on improving the existing system (i.e. maintenance, mowing, etc.) GDOT’s program will double in size. The Design-Build program and Program Delivery will increase as a result She asked for ideas on where and how to improve delivery through GPTQ. The goal is to shift projects into a state funded program. The critical path shifts from environmental with the federal process to design. The goal will be 18 months to complete. GDOT planning is currently working on a potential project list and GDOT will be looking for Program and Management assistance from consultants. Bridges may go to a design-build method, or a batch method (similar to the Big Bridge program) More maintenance projects will be shifted to federal funds GDOT will be looking for new design-build projects GDOT will be evaluating state funded operational improvement projects 3.
