Maximum Security and Control

The system’s many unique features, including automated unit-dose dispensing, provide maximum security and control over medications.

Improved Patient Care

With Omnicell Medication Systems, patient care is enhanced by features such as patient medication profiling which provides complete patient medication information and an integrated Web browser which provides clinicians with drug and reference information. Furthermore, the systems enable caregivers to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time at the patient bedside.

Increased Compliance

The system’s many information management tools provide assistance with compliance and accountability for JCAHO, DEA, and Board of Pharmacy standards and regulations.

Point-of-Use Medication Management OmniRx

OmniRx is a complete system for the automated management and dispensing of medications at the point of use. As with all Omnicell medication dispensing systems, the 13-drawer OmniRx accommodates drawers of all security levels, integrates with a Web browser for clinical reference information, and includes patient medication profiling which displays specific patient medication information.

OmniRx One-, Two- and Three-Cell

Three- and Nine-Drawer Pharmacy Modules are integrated within OmniRx One-, Two- and ThreeCell cabinets, providing a single system for the automated dispensing of medications and supplies at the point of care. These combination systems are flexible, accommodating any mix of medications and supplies.

The OmniDispenser Module enables healthcare facilities to incorporate automated single-dose dispensing within existing Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets. With this module, access to medications is controlled and secure, restocking accuracy is improved, the opportunity for inventory discrepancies is significantly decreased, and nurses and other caregivers find improved efficiency, allowing them more time for patient care.

Omnicell Drawer Types

Omnicell Medication Systems can be configured with any combination of drawer types to provide varying levels of control and to meet the specific security needs of any area in the facility. Drawer types include the high-security FlexBin Single-Dose Drawer, the high-security Locking Drawer, the medium-security Sensing Drawer, the Lighted Matrix Drawer, and the Matrix Drawer.

Touch & Go™ Biometric Fingerprint Scanner

Touch & Go, a biometric, positive ID system offers high security and fast access to the cabinet. After an initial login, users need only a fingerprint scan for re-entry into a cabinet, eliminating the need to key-in a user name and password. Anyone who has registered a fingerprint may independently update that scan at any time, and the system can accommodate users who are unable to be recognized by the biometric system. To maximize the potential of each area and site, Touch & Go is highly configurable.

Positive Identification Magnetic and Optical Card Readers

Providing further convenience and control, integrated magnetic and optical card readers enable users to access the system (ensuring positive identification) with the quick swipe of a facility-issued card.

SafetyStock™ Bar Code Confirmation

SafetyStock utilizes bar code scanning to confirm the identity of medication and supply products for restock and selected issues and returns to an OmniRx dispensing cabinet. In addition to using restock label bar codes, SafetyStock has the ability to selectively read individual item bar codes, thus preventing restock errors secondary to human picking errors.

External Return Bin

Mounted outside OmniRx dispensing cabinets, the controlled-access External Return Bin allows nurses and other users to return medication items retrieved from the system. The bin has a large capacity, storing as many as two one-liter I.V. bags.

Web Browser

Important for both patient care and meeting JCAHO requirements, an integrated Web browser gives users quick and easy access to the Clinical Pharmacology™ drug information database, which provides current drug information, patient education materials in English and Spanish, and other reference materials. Color photos of medications and complete text information provide nurses with information needed to safely administer and monitor medications.

Patient Medication Profiling

With an interface to the facility’s pharmacy information system, the patient medication profiling feature displays complete patient medication information to caregivers at the cabinet. The system provides additional control by limiting access to only medication orders reviewed and approved by a pharmacist, a key requirement of JCAHO.
