Sound Crew ! ! ! ! !

Job Description: The Sound Crew works hand-in-hand with the band in preparing for worship. They are responsible for running sound during the entire Sunday morning gathering (worship and preaching). The role they play is vital for the communication of truth and removing distractions during worship by preparing/tweaking the audio to make it sound as professional as possible.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 8:00am on Sunday.

Details: Responsible for setting up the sound board, speakers, and audio snake (or whatever else the band needs set up. In Addition, the Sound Crew must strive for excellence in the way they do this job, as it is a vital aspect of what Love & Justice Church does on a weekly basis.

Keynote Crew

Job Description: The Keynote Crew works hand-in-hand with the band in preparing for worship. They are responsible for running keynote through the entirety of the worship, as well as provide “announcement slides” before and after the service. The role they play is vital for the worship aspect of the church by providing song lyrics for the congregation, in a non-distracting manner.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church in time to have everything set up and ready to go (projector, macbook, etc) by 8:30am on Sunday.

Details: They are responsible for running through the keynote slides while the band practices each song. The purpose of running through the slides before the service starts is to ensure that the person is aware of what !order the slides should be in, is familiar with the song(s), and to check for any errors within the slides.

Childrenʼs Ministry !

L & J Kids Coordinator

Job Description: The L & J Kids Coordinator oversees the Childrenʼs Ministry of Love & Justice Church. In addition, the L & J Kids Coordinator oversees the volunteers, scheduling, and organization of the Childrenʼs Ministry as a whole. They work hand-in hand with the pastoral leadership of Love & Justice Church to ensure that our children are well taken care of and ministered to in an effective and fun way.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 10:00am on Sunday.

Details: Come to church ready to finish setting up the childrenʼs area (if not already completed). Make sure that everyone who is serving in L & J Kids knows they are scheduled and that they are familiar with the materials. Be on the lookout for future L & J Kids volunteers, and be ready to train/equip them to faithfully serve the children. Contact the pastoral leadership with any problems or issues that you are unsure of how to deal with. Stay in consistent communication with the pastoral leadership on how things are going so that they can best serve you and the Childrenʼs Ministry as a whole. Be available to speak with parents about the Childrenʼs Ministry that Love & Justice Church has, expressing our vision and mission for this ministry clearly.

L & J Kids Volunteer

Job Description: The L & J Kids Volunteer is responsible for working directly with the children (ages birth - three) during the preaching time of each Sunday morning gathering. The L & J Kids Volunteer is not a baby sitter but a minister of the gospel: praying, loving, teaching truth, and caring for the children.

Details: Come to church prepared, knowing your material for that particular Sunday. If the childrenʼs area is not set up and ready to go, please finish setting it up. After the preaching (and when the announcement about L & J Kids is given), escort the parents with the children (or just the children themselves) back into the childrenʼs area.

Set-Up Crew

Job Description: The Set-Up Crew works to get the church location set up for each Sunday morning gathering. They are responsible for setting up/preparing the Lordʼs Supper tables, placing the curtains over the windows, and being available for any other set-up needs present each Sunday. The purpose of this crew is to alleviate some of the stress placed on the band as they prepare to lead the church in worshiping Jesus through song. In addition, this crew also plays an intricate role in preparing the overall facility for each Sunday morning gathering.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 8:30am on Sunday.

Details: The brown curtains will need to be draped over each window, not letting any light in for better light control purposes. Must unscrew each light bulb on the side walls except for three in the front on either side (we will show you which ones to leave screwed in). The Lordʼs Supper tables will need to be prepared - one on both sides of the front stage area. Each table will consist of two brown square trays, a brown oval tray, and a table cloth. The two brown square trays will be filled with juice and wine (one with juice, one with wine). The brown oval tray will be filled with matzah bread. Place the table cloth on the table before setting up each of the trays. Put the “Juice” description tag in front of the juice and the “Wine” description tag in front of the wine. Fill out the “Lordʼs Supper Needs” log to notify us if we are running low on juice, wine, or bread. Upon completion of this task, ask around to see if any other things need to be set up.

Coffee/Donuts

Job Description: To create a welcoming environment, Love & Justice Church provides donuts and coffee on a weekly basis for our Sunday gatherings. The person who volunteers for this position commits to pick up the donuts and brew the coffee for the church.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 9:30am on Sunday.

Details: Pick up two-dozen donuts (one dozen glazed, one dozen chocolate) and bring them to church with the receipt of purchase. Begin to set up the area where the donuts and coffee will be. The coffee and condiments should be in a plastic storage box set out for you by the Set-Up Crew. Brew two pots of coffee and one pot of just water (which will be used for hot tea/hot chocolate). Fill out the “Coffee Needs” log to notify us if we are running low on coffee, tea, hot chocolate, condiments, etc.

Clean-Up Crew

Job Description: The Clean-Up Crew is responsible for cleaning up the church after every Sunday morning gathering. They are responsible for scanning the entire church facility, throwing away trash, and cleaning up any messes that might be present. The volunteer(s) for this position must be willing to stay until almost everyone is out of the facility for cleaning purposes.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 10:30am on Sunday.

Details: After the Sunday gathering ends, begin scanning the entire facility in search trash. If the small trash cans are full, please tie them up and throw them into the large trash dumpsters in the closet near the menʼs restroom. Check each room for any messes that might have been made. If you are in need of cleaning supplies, please ask Brandon Post. Before leaving, make sure that the entire church facility is clean and in order.

Tear-Down Crew

Job Description: The Tear-Down Crew works to get the church location put back into order after each Sunday morning gathering. They are responsible for tearing down the Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities

Lordʼs Supper tables, removing the window curtains (as well as folding them up for storage), tearing down the rest of the stage, and putting everything back into storage. In addition, this crew is responsible for !setting the church back up the way it was before we arrived (chairs on stage, paintings on walls, plants in nursery room, etc).

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 10:30am on Sunday.

Details: After the Sunday gathering ends, begin by tearing down the Lordʼs Supper tables. Remove the leftover matzah bread and place in a plastic zip-lock bag. Pour remaining wine/juice back into the wine/juice bottle and place the wine/juice back into the refrigerator (in the room behind the sound board). Fold up the table cloths and place inside the Lordʼs Supper storage container along with the remaining matzah bread. Remove the window curtains, fold them up, and place them in their storage bin. Tear down the stage (all of Love & Justice sound equipment) and put in the back storage room, as well as put the stage back together complete with chairs, plants, paintings, etc in their proper place. Overseer: The immediate overseer to this position is either Mike DeJohn or Brandon Post. The ultimate overseer to this position is Aaron Addison.

Money Counting

Job Description: The person who volunteers for the Money Counting position counts/!tracks the giving under dual control following each Sunday gathering. They are responsible for keeping the church above reproach in the initial money handling process.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 10:30am on Sunday.

Details: After the Sunday gathering ends, begin by finding your money counting partner. Grab the “giving box” and sort the cash from the checks. Add up the cash and the checks separately, then add them together. Write down the amounts on the appropriate form as well as initial/sign the form. All money counting procedures should be done under dual control (both people count individually to determine the money is correct, as well as counting in the presence of the other person). Dual control helps keep you safe from false accusation and the church above reproach in our financial dealings. Once the money has been counted and logged, give the money bag to Brandon Post with the log inside.

Parking Crew

Job Description: The Parking Crew helps facilitate the parking to ensure that the maximum amount of vehicles can effectively fit in our parking lot. In addition, the Parking Crew also helps people get from their vehicles to the church in harsh weather.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 10:00am on Sunday.

Details: The Parking Crew will watch the parking for vehicles. When a vehicle pulls in, the Parking Crew will assist the driver in parking in the best location to ensure that we can fit as many cars in the parking lot as needed. During harsh weather, the Parking Crew will not only help facilitate parking but also help people walk safely to the doors (rainy weather - umbrellas, snowy/icy weather - clearing out the parking lot, etc).

Band ! ! ! !

Job Description: The band leads the church in worship to God through singing and music. The responsibility of the band is to be excellent in all that they do, since it is for King Jesus. They are to draw attention to Him, rather then themselves. They must prayerfully seek the Holy Spiritʼs presence and power as they lead the church.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 8:00am on Sunday.

Details: The band must arrive at the facility as close to 8:00am as possible. The band works hand-in-hand with the sound crew to set up the stage and do sound checks. Each band member must come ready to practice and get any “kinks” worked out before the service officially starts. The purpose of practice is to learn the songs better so as to not be a distraction to the rest of the church. Each band member must show due respect to whoever is leading for that Sunday - this makes it easier for the whole band, as well as increases the joy of the one leading.

If a band member will not be available to play on a given Sunday, he/she should notify Aaron Addison by the Thursday before (at the very latest) to ensure that someone else can take his/her spot.

Ministry Team !

Prayer Team Leader

Job Description: The Prayer Team Leader is responsible for leading out the prayer team for our Sunday gatherings. The responsibility of the Prayer Team Leader is to lead out prayer for specific prayer requests given to the church and prayer for the Sunday gatherings.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 9:20am on Sunday.

! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Details: The Prayer Team Leader arrives at church by 9:20am in order to be ready to start praying with whoever is available by 9:30am. The Prayer Team Leader will often need to ask those who are present if they are ready to pray (since most people seem to find everything else to do or talk about rather than pray). The prayer Team can meet either where the church gathers for worship or in the room behind the sound board. If there are specific requestʼs that have been e-mailed to the Prayer Team Leader, he/she will read/explain those prior to prayer. The Prayer Team Leader will lead the group in prayer for that particular Sunday (for the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit, the gospel to go forth, people to be saved, the church edified, etc). The Prayer Team Leader will also be responsible for wrapping up prayer no later than 10:10am (unless he/she senses that prayer must continue). This will help prepare the church as people begin to filter in.

Greeter

Job Description: The Greeter is responsible for not simply “greeting” people at the door but also for finding those people who are new (or appear to be new) and engaging them in a comfortable way.

Arrival Time: Must arrive at church by 10:10am on Sunday.

Details: The Greeter arrives at church and “floats” around the facility looking for people who are new or sitting alone. If there are multiple greeters, it might help to have one stand at the front of the doors and another to “float” around the facility. Once you find someone who is either new or sitting alone, engage them (introduce yourself, get to know them, ask them to go to lunch, etc). Greeters are what helps new people not feel totally out of place and be forced to sit alone. It might be helpful if Greeters introduce the existing Covenant Members to those who are new as well to help them feel more connected.
