On 01/16/2017 at 1728 hours, TCSO received a call of damage to property that occurred at the address of 12550 County 38, rural Eagle Bend. 38 year old Amy Claseman called to report that sometime between the hours of 2100 on 01/15/2017 and 0730 on 01/16/2017, someone entered her property and threw multiple eggs at her residence. On Sunday January 15th Susan Georges of Long Prairie struck a deer on County Rd 29 near Mill Lake with her 2008 Mercury Sable. Minor damage and no injuries were reported.

On1/12/2017 at approximately 1900 hours Barbara Hayes, rural Browerville was traveling west on 340th street in Ward Township when she struck a deer with her 2008 Mercury Milan. The vehicle sustained front end damage. Hayes was uninjured in the crash.

Ambulance

On 01/10/2017, Courtney Olston and Adam Bates of rural Bertha, were traveling southbound on a 2001 Yamaha Kodiak on 203rd Ave when a deer entered the roadway. Olston swerved to miss the deer, and entered the ditch, causing Bates to be thrown from the ATV. Bates was transported to Lakewood Health System in Staples, where he was treated from his injuries.

On 1/10/17, at approximately 1835 hours, Jennifer Nelson of Clarissa was involved in a one vehicle rollover on County Road 11 in Bartlett Township. Nelson was driving a 2006 Saturn Ion which sustained substantial damage, Nelson was not injured.

Drug Investigation

Sheriff's Mike Carr and Don Asmus along with Staples Police Chief Melissa Birkholtz, and also members of the West Central and Central MN Violent Offender Task Forces executed a search warrant at 715 5th St. NE in the City of Staples for controlled substance crimes. Arrested was Todd Jerome Gabel DOB/01-27-1977. The investigation is ongoing and other arrests are expected.

On 01/09/2017, Jordan Quirt of Minneapolis, was traveling southbound on Cty 1 near 220th St when a deer entered the roadway, and struck it with her vehicle. The vehicle, a 2016 Honda Fit, sustained damage to the front end.

On 1/9/2107, the Staples Fire Department, Todd County Sheriff's Office and Staples Ambulance responded to a house fire at 40708 Portage Circle in Todd County. The house and garage were severely damaged in the fire and no one was injured. It has not yet been determined what caused the fire.

On 1-9-17 at approximately 0841 Todd County Sheriffs Office responded to a 1 vehicle minor accident on Hwy 71 in the city of Clarissa. Gunnar Perlinger, 20 of Clarissa, went to pass a vehicle when he lost control and hit a guardrail. No injuries occurred.

On 1/6/2017 at approximately 1815 hours Amanda Hartmann of Clarissa was traveling east on County Road 14 in Burleene Township when she struck a deer with her 2009 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle sustained front end and passenger side damage. Hartmann was uninjured in the crash.

On 01/05/2016, Eliza Gould of rural Browerville, was stopped on US Hwy 71 waiting to turn left near the Dollar General in Browerville in a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville, when a 2004 GMC Savana Cutaway, driven by Lewis Noska of rural Browerville, struck the Pontiac Bonneville in the rear. The Pontiac Bonneville sustained damage to the rear end, and the GMC Savana sustained damage to the front end.

On 01/04/2017 at 2349 hours, TCSO received a call of a car deer accident that occurred on County 59 west of 281st Ave in Round Prairie TWP sect 11. 38 year old Robert Miron, rural Grey Eagle, was traveling eastbound on County 59 when he struck a deer in the traffic lane. Robert was not injured. His 2008 Chevrolet truck received moderate damage to the front passenger side.

0n 1/2/17 Todd County Sheriffs Office received a report of a car deer crash on 251st ave south of MN State hwy 210. Glenn Widmark age 52 of staples was traveling south bound in his 2013 Hyundia on 251st ave when he struck a deer causing damage. No injuries reported.

On 1/2/17 Todd County Sheriffs Office Responded to a one vehicle crash on US HWY 10 and Spruce Rd just west of Motley. Katlyn Zaske age 22 of Park Rapids MN was traveling eastbound on US HWY 10 in her 2005 Chevy Trailblazer near the spruce Rd intersection when she lost control of the vehicle crashing into a tree and causing damage. No injuries were reported and she was wearing a seatbelt.

On 12-27-2016 10:22 hours, Kevin Graves of Sauk Centre, was traveling East on Elk Loop with a 2016 Kennworth LP Gas truck owned by Rahn's Oil and Propane, Inc. of Melrose attempting a home delivery when he slid off the roadway right and struck a Mailbox and 911 Post at 18560 Elk Loop the Lester Bruder driveway. No damage reported to the truck the mailbox and post was destroyed. No one was hurt in the incident. Roadway was completely Icy Covered in that area.

On 12/23/16, at approximately 0106 hours, the Todd County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of power lines down on County 60 near 323rd Avenue, Little Elk Township. Upon arrival, the Todd County Sheriff's Office located a power pole that had been struck by a vehicle, the vehicle had left the scene of the accident. Pieces from the vehicle were located at the scene of the accident. Todd Wadena Electric assisted with the downed power lines. On 12/19/16 Todd County Sheriffs Office received a theft report from Sec 21 of Fawn Lake Twp. It was reported that sometime between 12/12/16 and 12/17/16 someone had stolen a log splitter. Any information on this incident please contact the Todd County Sheriffs Office. On 01-12-2017 Todd County Sheriff's Office during a search warrant in Sylvan Shores at 27686 Oberon Loop Browerville the stolen wood splitter was recovered. Criminal charges are pending at the County Attorney's Office.
