Practice (Set by the Head Coach of each sport) 7th grade practice before school during season (starts at 7:00 am) 8th grade after school during season (ends at 5:30)  No

practice on game days before or after school (typically)

should be picked up and dropped off on the west side by the football field.

Everyone that comes out for Cross Country is a member of the team Students will try out to be a member of the class Students who try out but do not make the cross country class will be in a physical education course Top 15 girls & boys in each grade will attend the meets Will try to take each kid to at least one meet

Basketball Off-season Class Try-outs • •



Anyone not participating in Football, CC, or VB may sign up. Students will be evaluated and placed in the off season BB class if they make the cut score for the class. The skills assessment will take place the second week of school during the class. If you sign up for the class and don't make the score you will have a schedule change to PE. – PE may or may not be the same period. A team tryout will occur in November.

Basketball Off-season Class Try-outs This class will be first period. Not everyone that signs up will be placed in the BB class Most students that play BB also play football or volleyball Sign up if you think you will make the squad. Know in advance that if you do not make the team you will move to PE. The PE class may or may not be the same period.

are 2 teams for each grade: A and B

Normally on Thursday starting at 4:30 pm

are on Friday and Saturday

will remain in athletics off-season at the conclusion of their season to fulfill their P.E. requirement and continue development.

who played football or volleyball will return to those classes after the basketball season

are NO tryouts for football.

will tryout for positions.

Football Practice/Games  Practice:

will begin on the 2nd day of school.  7th grade: practice before school at 7:00 am.  The locker room opens at 6:30 am.  The

athlete, and parents/guardians, need to understand in advance competitive UIL football is a lot of work until the first games actually start

August (look for information in the parent newsletter for exact date and times once the CISD district calendar has been approved by the school board)

Parents are encouraged to join The Woodlands High School Quarterback Club (Booster Club)



Booster Club will have Highlander apparel for purchase -This gives us the opportunity to purchase equipment This is not required

UIL rules allow us to take four athletes per event to participate at the track meets. We will carry as many alternates to meets as the opponent will allow.

Sign up for basketball. Know that if you don't make either group you will have a schedule change to PE. PE may be a different period.

my PE/Athletics period changes what about the rest of my schedule? –

Sometimes a student's entire schedule is changed. We try to avoid it, but sometimes it has to happen.
