This annual performance art event is a multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary artistic use of the many spaces within Teatro Angela Peralta and the Municipal School of Arts and has a different theme each year. The 2015 theme was Doorway to Mictlan (the Aztec afterworld), and the 2016 theme is The Revolution of the Dead. The Revolution of the Dead seeks transport the viewer "to the other world" and experience with their senses art offered in homage to the dead. The Revolution of the Dead includes Classical Ballet, Folk Ballet, Theater, Contemporary Dance, Visual Arts, Music, Singing, Aerial Dance, Multimedia, Conceptual Art, Happenings and Performances to offer an emotional, intense and amazing journey that entrances and fascinates!

Admission to this unique once-a-year event is free, but you must have a ticket, which are limited and scarce - for obvious reasons!

Chavela Vargas led a particularly interesting life. Chavela Vargas was born in 1919 in San Joaquin de Flores, Costa Rica, he became a nationalized Mexican citizen. He was friends with many prominent 20th century artists in Mexico, and lived for a time with legendary painters Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. He was known to consume large quantities of tequila, a fact that didn't prevent him from recording more than 40 albums and headlining nearly a thousand concerts. Since then he has made over two hundred more television appearances including over 20 appearances on NBC's The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. During the 1992 U.S. presidential election, Mayberry portrayed Ross Perot in over 20 sketches on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Jack's comedy spans from family including his memorable grandfather remembering "where everything didn't used to be" to cutting edge topical observations and political ponderings. He lives in Los Angeles, California and tours worldwide. Jack closed out the first Mazatlan Comedy Club season with a bang and MCC is thrilled to have him returning to the Mazatlan Comedy Club for the final show in the 2016-2017 Mazatlan comedy season!
