Commerce is best understood as a social institution which provides goods and services. India today needs highly skilled and talented commerce graduates who can contribute to the growth of the economy. The economic growth of a region or a country is enabled by economists and accountants possessing advanced knowledge as well as the skills to evaluate and analyze the complexities of businesses and other financial institutions. Keeping this in mind, the Xavier School of Commerce was set up under the Xavier University in 2014. The school aims to provide quality education which will prepare the students to take on the future challenges of the country.

ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM Evolving technologies continually present new opportunities and challenges for industry practitioners and academic researchers. People are exposing themselves to more and more digital and social media. The widespread adoption of digital marketing techniques, including social media, has significantly contributed to the individualization of marketing where the providers of goods and services are increasingly communicating with individual consumers and users, gaining feedback on a one-to-one basis and providing bespoke solutions for clients. One of the biggest changes in human interaction is the recent proliferation of online social networks. Real-world social relationships have migrated to the virtual world, resulting in virtual web based communities that bring people together from across the globe. Digital marketing has new realities for the marketers in global digital world and the changed scenario from social marketing to social/ webbased/virtual CRM. So, in this symposium we will have different industry personnel who will present their perspective on how digital marketing acts as a new paradigm in emerging economies

Objectives of the Symposium

 To encourage students to share their ideas/views to present case studies, research article, making posters on Digital Marketing and its future.  To identify and explore new opportunities of business thrown open by the advent of Digital Marketing.  To identify Economical, Social, Legal, Political environment for development of Digital Marketing as an important sector of economy.

The symposium invites academic scholars and management students to participate by sharing their research papers/articles and Case Studies or posters or Business Plan on the following themes:

1. Subthemes for research papers/articles and Case Studies Traditional marketing to digital marketing Digital marketing today and tomorrow Online buyer behavior Digital advertising Internet enabled CRM Ethical concern in digital marketing Social media marketing Search engine marketing Engaging customers with social media Brands and online brand building Social to virtual/web based CRM Digital marketing and cashless economy

Guidelines for Full Paper

The paper should begin with a title page including title, author(s) names, institutional address along with email. The manuscript should begin from the next page with title, an extended abstract, and a list of key words. The total length of the paper must not exceed 5-6 A4 size pages excluding bibliography and appendices, single-line spacing, 12 font, Times New Roman, and 1” margin on all sides of the page in MS Word compatible format text. Papers MUST ONLY be submitted through E-mail at [email protected] . All the papers will be screened by an expert committee with respect to their quality, originality, and relevance.

Guidelines The topic could be described on an assembled poster. Each presenter can therefore only present one poster. The poster should be an assembly or arrangement of photographs, graphics and pieces of text that you attach to the presentation panel or template. In order to explain the poster, the participant may hand out any leaflets or other materials they have available for viewers of their poster. Totally printed posters ARE NOT allowed i.e. printouts cannot be considered as posters. Poster Requirements (Size/Dimensions) The maximum size dimension for a poster: maximum WIDTH (side to side) - 48 inches maximum HEIGHT (top to floor) - 36 inches Material Poster must consist of material than can be mounted easily with push pins.

3. Business Plan This is the Business-Plan competition “Next Chatur Idea” in which the students will have to precisely design an original plan and become innovators right away. The idea you spend in making

your business plan must be unique, accurate, and innovative and should be kept up-to-date which would be owing towards your biggest talent. Your plan must be focused on: “Digital Marketing Trends: Today and Tomorrow”

Rules:  Single or team of 2 members is eligible to participate.  A student can be part of a single team only.

  

Interested students have to mail their written business plan. The sum total of written business plan (40%) and presentation (60%) will be your final score. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

You will be given about 10 minutes to present your Paper/ideas including questions and answers. The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the symposium. All posters will be put up at a venue at the symposium under the responsibility of the participant/presenter. When the competition is being conducted, each participant should be ready in front of his/her poster to answer all questions from the judges. The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the symposium.

Important Dates  Last Date for Submission of Abstract/Rough poster – 25th Dec 2016  Last Date for Submission of Full Papers/posters – 10th January 2017 THOSE WHO PARTICIPATE WILL GET CERTIFICATES AND BEST PAPER, POSTER PRESENTER AND BUSINESS PLAN WILL BE AWARDED BY THE PANEL MEMBERS.
