Clean Up Clean Up is dedicated to working with communities to “Clean up, Fix up and Conserve the Environment”. Founded and chaired by Ian Kiernan AO, a core team of nine is based in Sydney. Clean Up is committed to making a difference to the environment. The organisation’s achievements are clearly evidenced by its annual flagship event Clean Up Australia Day and Clean Up the World supplemented by regional projects including the Great Northern Clean Up, Clean Up Dumping, Clean Up Mobile Phones. These initiatives continue to attract participation from close to 1 million volunteers nationally and an estimated 35 million volunteers globally. Clean up also engages in advocacy based on local and national rubbish prevention issues. Clean Up is looking to aggressively increase marketing and promotion of our scope of environmental events, programs and projects. The role is based in Clean up Australia’s Head Office in The Rocks. Primary Purpose Support Clean Up events, programs and projects to achieve organisational and initiative specific objectives by developing, implementing and monitoring an organisation-wide marketing and communications strategy. Reporting Relationships This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the management team. It currently has one full-time report. Key Challenges for the Position

Managing and nurturing external relationships [contract, pro-bono and partner] to deliver organizational objectives and stakeholder expectations Balancing potentially conflicting needs of market sector officers to leverage promotional opportunities for their activities within a strategic framework

Key Accountabilities Marketing and Communications Strategy for Clean Up 1. Lead the development of the marketing and communications strategy to support the events, projects, programs and activities of Clean Up, including identifying new and exciting opportunities to grow the scope and reach of Clean Up’s brand. This will include reviewing marketing and communication activities already in place for existing initiatives 2. Manage marketing, communications and/or media agencies retained to provide expertise associated with the development of this repositioning strategy 3. Timetable and then manage marketing and communications deliverables within this strategy as measured against agreed outcomes Brand management 4. Project manage Clean Up’s brand audit and research projects reflecting strategies and objectives as outlined within the business plan 5. Become the Clean Up brand champion; documenting brand usage criteria and policies under which the brand can be protected whilst maximizing opportunities for Clean Up and contracted partner leverage Communications channel management 6. Manage external media, advertising, marketing and publicity agencies 7. Develop, implement and monitor Clean Up’s channel marketing strategy including optimizing the use of traditional and new media channels to expand Clean Up’s reach according to the scope of activities. This will include development of digital marketing channels as a subset of the marketing and communications strategy 8. In conjunction with the CEO, include proactive on-line fundraising within the marketing mix for Clean Up Event, project and program [activity] support 9. In consultation with Clean Up delivery team:  Research, copy write and/or edit content for activity specific collateral  Manage design, production and printing of promotional, advertising and initiative collateral in conjunction with external agencies  Manage all promotional aspects of activities to ensure Clean Up’s image and “message” is maximized  Provide marketing and communications input to continuously review and improve activity delivery plans  Identify new and exciting opportunities to grow the scope and reach of Clean Up’s activities  Provide creative input to leverage technology to more effectively produce and distribute activity and corporate collateral

Media: 10. Implementation of an integrated media and publicity strategy encompassing all Clean Up activities including Clean Up Australia Day, Clean Up the World, community projects, Clean Up our Climate and Clean Up issues based advocacy 11. Provision of media advice and briefing for the Executive Chairman and Executive staff 12. Support the Executive Chairman, Chief executive in the role as media spokesperson for Clean Up 13. Liaise extensively with national, metropolitan and regional media 14. Develop media materials including media releases, briefing papers, backgrounders, fact sheets and speaking notes 15. Manage monitoring and evaluation of all media coverage for Clean Up and its programs Corporate Support 16. Review, recommend and then manage content and production of Clean Up’s ‘ corporate publications’ including:  Social marketing – linking back to activities as required  Annual reporting; corporate and activity  Rubbish Report  Fact Sheets  Newsletters  Web-site  Corporate brochures and  Any new initiatives that might be developed Administration 17. Manage marketing and communication team members to ensure delivery of projects under their responsibility; assist them to grow by developing their skills and leverage their knowledge and experience across Clean Up 18.
