Margin Builder Tool – what is it? •

Margin Builder is a deal registration program offering partners the potential to earn additional upfront margins on qualifying SMB deals. Margin Builder is now available to all partners registered on Symantec’s partner portal, ‘PartnerNet’



Directly accessible at www.marginbuilder.com; it allows partners to increase their margin by a substantial proportion depending on their specialization status.



The incentive is delivered to the partner in the form of a discount authorized by Symantec and passed on by distribution.

5 Simple Steps to using Margin Builder! •

Identify a new license opportunity…



Register your deal on the Symantec Margin Builder tool



The deal is auto-validated based on a simple set of criteria



For eligible deals, the partner will be issued with a Deal-ID for an additional 10% or 20% Margin* depending on their status



Pass your Deal-ID to your distribution partner to claim your additional 10% or 20% Margin* *Symantec will provide sufficient discount to the Distributor to enable them to offer you an additional recommended discount as outlined above. Any actual pricing will ultimately be as agreed between the Distributor and you.

Email verification process… Validation step Go to…. www.marginbuilder.com •The partner email address needs to be entered in order to validate the user •This will query the PartnerNet user database •If the partner is in PartnerNet database user is sent to claim form •If the partner is not in PartnerNet database user will have to register on PartnerNet in order for the deal to be approved •You can also access your deals by logging in through PartnerNet: http://partnernet.symantec.com

Deal submit page – Step 1: Validate

Please insert your email and click on 'Validate'. If your company is already registered in PN you will be able to register a new deal opportunity.

Deal submit page – Step 2: About you Different introduction text depending on your specialization status. This states that the partner is at 'Registered' level in the Symantec Partner Program (SPP)

After verifying your details, the tool automatically populates your company name, your email address and your country

You will then need to select the relative Market Segment / Licensing program, the Distributor, and if relevant, a Symantec marketing lead reference code. You can tick the box 'I don’t have an activity code' if you are not in possession of one

Deal submit page – Step 3: The customer

To search for your customer, you need to enter either the End user company name and the End user company postcode along with the End user company country. N.B Postcode and website are not mandatory fields

The D&B search returns as many results as possible according to the search criteria

If the relevant End User is not in the resulting list, the partner has the opportunity to modify their search

The partner can manually enter the End user details if they cannot be found in the results list

The partner has the ability to enter all End user details when clicking ‘Manual Entry’. The mandatory fields are: End user company name End user company postcode* End user company country End User company town *Postcode is mandatory when submitting a deal manually

A simple bullet point list is presented to clearly show what products are available. The list of eligible products for the SMB tool can be found by following this link: http://www.emea.symantec.c om/info/margin_builder/eligib le_products.html

The product categories can be expanded and shrunk as desired. Simply click on the 'View more' and the 'View less' buttons

Deal submit page – Step 5: Configure products The selected products are clearly highlighted

The partner must select the following deal information: license type, quantity and maintenance type

The quantity can be selected by adjusting the slider or typing in the amount of seats / pieces in the allocated box

Different license types for the same product can also be added if necessary. The total will determine how many licenses can be added

If required the partner can tick ‘Remember me’ at the end. This will keep them logged in on specific computers, therefore their email address will not need to be verified again

Before submitting the deal the partner must agree the Terms & Conditions. There is also a link for the T&C’s to be downloaded

Deal submit page – Step 5: Configure products

If the maintenance option selected for the deal is less than 3 years, a pop-up window appears and provides the choice of an additional three years option

If ‘No’ is selected, the user continues to the deal confirmation page and will only receive an email notification showing the previously selected option. If ‘Yes’ is selected, the email notification generated for the deal will contain both options

Deal submit page – Step 6: Status Confirmation that the deal has been approved The deal ID must be passed on to the distributor and carried all the way through the deal. This is how we track deals and produce analytics on the whole Margin Builder program This is the deal confirmation page. You can click on ‘View deal details’ to review your deal

If ‘Remember me’ was ticked, partner can view the claims you have previously submitted from this computers. Deals can be viewed for the whole company, but the user is sent to PartnerNet and required to sign in

Each deal has a ‘shell life’ of 60 days. If the deal is not closed within this time period, it is auto-expired. A reminder email is sent to the partner after 30 days
