St. Basil’s UCBC is hosting a Mini Lenten Retreat on April 6, 2011. All parishioners from the Regina Deanery are invited to attend. We will begin with Presanctified Liturgy at 7:00 P.M. with the opportunity for confessions, followed by Fr. Kachur, UCBC Spiritual Advisor, speaking on “The Power of Prayer”. EPARCHIAL SPECIAL COLLECTION in March is for Catholic Missions in Canada. Since time of the first immigration of Ukrainians to Canada (over 100 years) this same entity is helping Our Church through various Programs. Collection will be on March 27.

Regina Pro-Life 40 Days for Life - March 9 to April 17, 2011 In Regina the 40-Days for Life will call upon concerned Pro-Life people to take up the 40-day challenge by Prayer, Fasting, Vigil and Community outreach, with the expectation that God will answer their prayers and unborn babies lives will be saved. The vigils will take place, daily 4 to 5 p.m. at the corner of 14th Ave. and Halifax Street, which is in front of the General Hospital. There will be a prayer leader in attendance each day. Sign-up sheets will be available in the churches for people to indicate the dates they can be part of the prayer vigil.

Let Us Recall — Stories and Examples: We will be thankful for sharing stories and examples that falling into our hearts shall have reaction on us and bring us closer to our Lord; Reading: We should remember the reading of testimony of Gloria Polo and Exam on Conscience that Father proposed us to read; Video: What an encouragement in our struggles? Imagine being born without arms. No arms to wrap around a friend; no hands to hold the ones you love; no fingers to experience touch; no way to lift or carry things. How much more difficult would life be if you were living without arms and hands? Or what about legs? Imagine if instead of no arms, you had no legs. No ability to dance, walk, run, or even stand. Now put both of those scenarios together… no arms and no legs. What would you do? How would that affect your everyday life? Nicholas Vujicic came into the world in 1982 with neither arms nor legs. Imagine the shock his parents felt when they saw their first-born brand new baby boy for the first time, only to find he was what the world would consider imperfect and abnormal. Throughout his childhood, Nick dealt not only with the typical challenges of school and adolescence such as bullying and self-esteem issues; but also struggled with depression and loneliness. He constantly questioned why he was different than all the other kids surrounding him; why he was the one born without arms and legs. He wondered what the purpose behind his life was, or if he even had a purpose. After school, Nick went on with further study and obtained a double Bachelor’s degree, majoring in Accounting and Financial Planning from Griffith University in Logan, Australia. By the age of 19, Nick started to fulfill his dream of being able to encourage other people and bring them the gospel of Jesus through motivational speaking and sharing his testimony about how God changed his life and gave him a future and a hope. “I found the purpose of my existence, and also the purpose of my circumstance. There’s a purpose for why you’re in the fire.” Nick wholeheartedly believes that there is a purpose in each of the struggles we each encounter in our lives, and that our attitude towards those struggles, along with our faith and trust in the Lord can be the keys to overcoming the challenges we face. “If God can use a man without arms and legs to be His hands and feet, then He will certainly use any willing heart!” (read more: www.attitudeisaltitude.com)
A Letter Dear Friend, I just had to send a note to tell you how much I love you and care about you. I saw you yesterday as you were walking with your friends. I waited all day hoping you would want to talk with me also. As evening drew near, I gave you a sunset to close your day and a cool breeze to rest you. And I waited. But you never come. It hurt me, but I still love you because I am your friend. I saw you fall asleep last night and I longed to touch your brow. So I spilled moonlight on your pillow and your face. Again I waited, wanting to rush down so that we could talk. I have so many gifts for you. But you awakened late the next day and rushed off to work. My tears were in the rain. Today you looked so sad, so alone. It makes my heart ache because I understand. My friends let me down and hurt me so many times too. But I love you. Oh, if you would only listen to me. I really love you. I try to tell you in the blue sky and in quiet green grass. I whisper it in the leaves on the trees and breathe on the colors of the flowers. I shout it to you in the mountain streams and give the birds love song to sing. I clothe you with warm sunshine and perfume the air with nature’s scents. My love for you is deeper than the oceans and bigger than the biggest want of need in your heart. If you only knew how much I want to help you. I want you to meet my Father. He wants to help you too. My Father is that way, you know. Just call me, ask me, talk with me. I have so much to share with you. But, I won’t hassle you. I’ll wait because I love you. Your Friend, Jesus
