In pre-colonial times, the nomadic Kaweskar (or “water people”) lived and thrived in harmony with the sea; today they have all but vanished. Interviewing the last of the Kaweskar, Guzmán chronicles the terrible devastation wrought by this almost complete genocide, discovering an unsettling parallel to the thousands who were disappeared by more recent regimes.

A BRIEF HERSTORY OF CINEMA All About My Mother will be preceded by a 30-minute illustrated presentation. A Brief Herstory of Cinema is a Queen’s University student-produced zine (or fanzine) discussing contemporary questions of feminism, women in the film industry, and wider questions of the representation of women both on screen and across media platforms.
