welcome from pennwell corporation Dear Industry Colleagues, On behalf of Offshore magazine and the entire PennWell Corporation, I am pleased to invite you to attend the 19th annual Offshore West Africa Conference & Exhibition, Jan. 20-22, 2015, at the Eko Hotel & Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Held under the auspices of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the upcoming edition of Offshore West Africa seeks to address one of the oil and gas industry’s greatest challenges – managing major projects. This issue is particularly prevalent in West Africa where the industry is increasingly taking on complex deepwater developments while managing persistent capex and opex inflation. In the conference program, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. will share lessons learned from managing the production profile of Nigeria’s first deepwater project, Bonga. The operator recently completed an extension, Bonga Northwest, which is expected to contribute 40,000 boe/d to maintain production. Meanwhile, sanction of a further extension, Bonga Southwest, is imminent.

David Paganie Chief Editor, Offshore magazine Conference Director, Offshore West Africa

Total, another major deepwater operator, is expected to offer insight into the concept selection and project management challenges of the recently sanctioned, Egina. The initial development plan calls for 44 wells to be connected to an FPSO. The technical sessions also will include thought leaders with presentations on the latest technological solutions for marginal field development, enhanced oil recovery, subsea boosting and processing, well intervention, asset integrity management, corrosion control, and much more. Anchoring the program is the traditional local content panel discussion. Government officials and industry professionals will convene to discuss a number of pressing issues, including the challenges of implementing regulatory reform, corporate social responsibility, new investment opportunities, growing local capacities, and managing talent. Concurrently, a world-class exhibition will showcase that latest products and services available in the market. I trust you will find Offshore West Africa 2015 an ideal platform for networking, sharing technical and business solutions, and continuing education. Sincerely, David Paganie Chief Editor, Offshore magazine Conference Director, Offshore West Africa

welcome letter from advisory board Dear Industry Colleagues, It is my great pleasure to invite you to Lagos, Nigeria, for the Offshore West Africa Conference and Exhibition 2015. This event will mark the 19th year of Offshore West Africa Conference and Exhibition in the continent. This conference and exhibition was last held in Nigeria in 2012, after which it was held consecutively in Accra, Ghana. This return to Nigeria is in recognition of the role it plays in the oil and gas industry within the continent. The oil and gas landscape in Africa is changing rapidly, as demonstrated by the many emerging oil and gas nations in the region. This change brings with it higher expectations by both the countries and the investors alike. It also is compelling industry players to reduce operational costs, which is increasing demand for more efficient and dependable exploration and production technologies. These changes are weighed against new and evolving national oil & gas laws especially in favor of local content considerations.

George Oguachuba Offshore West Africa 2015 Advisory Board Chair General Manager, Technical Partnership Assets, TOTAL E&P Nigeria

These issues define the scope of the Offshore West Africa Conference and Exhibitions. As an annual event, the Offshore West Africa provides the technical forum for the sharing of experiences and discussions of the challenges and advancements of oil and gas exploration and production activities in the West Africa sub-region. The accompanying exhibition provides companies the opportunities to showcase their technologies, advancements, and success stories that impact operations in the sub-region. As the chairman of the Advisory Board, it is my pleasure and privilege to invite you to the upcoming event taking place in Lagos and benefit from the carefully packaged session topics touching on areas such as: lessons learned from recent field developments, subsea technology, production optimization, asset integrity, emerging technical solutions, perspectives on local content in the sub-region, regional trends and challenges, and much more. The benefits from the forum are not limited to the technical sessions and exhibition; it equally provides networking opportunities with leading players and stakeholders in the industry. Once again, on behalf of the Offshore West Africa Advisory Board, PennWell Corporation, and Offshore, the world’s leading offshore oil and gas magazine, I am pleased to invite industry leaders from West Africa and around the world to this exceptional forum to exchange ideas, share solutions, and learn from each other’s experiences.

George Oguachuba Offshore West Africa 2015 Advisory Board Chair General Manager, Technical Partnership Assets, TOTAL E&P Nigeria
