MALENY WOOD EXPO 2015 Post Event Report The Wood Expo promotes sustainable use of our beautiful native timbers through the work of local and regional wood artisans.

Overview When: Saturday 2nd May & Sunday 3rd May Where: Maleny Showgrounds Admission: $15 per adult $12 concessions children under 16 free Attendance: 8263 A severe weather event with flooding and road closures occurred on Thursday and up to Friday night before the event and affected Saturday attendance. Sunday attendance showed an increase from previous years despite continuing road closures etc. Volunteers: A huge ‘thank you’ to over 200 volunteers who helped before, during and after the Expo. This amazing event just wouldn’t happen if it wasn’t for the efforts and enthusiasm of the Maleny community.

“It's positively one of the best events involving timber that I can attend.” “We loved the displays and the free kids activities were awesomely great!” “I liked the wide variety of stalls. We purchased wooden toothbrushes, admired the beautiful log cabins, watched the chainsaw man carving wood and there even were snakes (displays) on the lawn area. A great community event” “Displays and stalls were well positioned and there was room to move around - not cramped and people having to push through crowds to get to the exhibits.”

‘The Event was very interesting, informative and fun. Enjoyed by my Son in-law, his two daughters aged 5 & 2, and grandson aged 12 from St George QLD. And of course me (nana). There was something for all ages. Thankyou”
