Massage Therapy How to receive a massage: Massage is a personal experience that may not be part of your cultural experience. You may feel uneasy or shy about receiving your first massage. The following guidelines will help put you at ease and assist you in getting the most out of your massage. 1. Arrive in plenty of time to fill out a Client Information Form and relax before your service. 2. Wait in the sitting area for your therapist to come get you. Undress to your underwear, or to your comfort level. Our staff is trained to drape you with a sheet for your entire session. 3. Our therapists are professionals who have your complete relaxation and comfort in mind. Be sure to tell your therapist if you have any areas of your body that are injured, sore, or tense prior to your service. 4. If you have a cold, flu, or a skin rash let your massage therapists know before your session. Mention any other health conditions such as high blood pressure, heart conditions, headaches or varicose veins. 5. Pregnant clients need a release form from their doctor. It can be brought to the session or faxed to 205-981-1271. 6. Our massage therapists’ goal is to work out every knot, kink and tight spot on your body that time permits. Remember, this is your time, and communicate with your therapist if you would like more or less pressure. If during the massage you have any discomfort, let your therapist know immediately. With a two months prior notice, Santa Fe Day Spa is available to be rented out after hours or on Sundays for special events. Those events could be, but are not limited to weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, corporate events, fashion shows or business seminars. The facility can be rented with or without services involved. Catering is also available. Call for pricing and availability.

Helpful Hints on How To Spa: 1.How do I schedule appointments? Call and have a choice of two times that would be convenient for you to come in. A credit card number or gift certificate number must be given to reserve an appointment. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. Gratuities are not included in spa packages or in individual services unless prearranged. An eighteen percent gratuity is added to all parties of three or more. 2 .How early should I arrive? Please arrive 20 minutes before your appointment is to start for single services and 30 minutes prior for multiple services. We try very hard to stay on schedule. Out of respect to all our guests, if you arrive late, your service may be shortened. Please present gift certificates upon arrival for your spa/salon services. Be sure to sign in and out at the front desk Lockers, showers, hot tubs and steam rooms are reserved for those individuals with two or more services, or a charge of $25 for someone without services. Limit two complimentary beverages per guests. 3. May I request a male or female therapist? Yes. All of our therapists are sensitive to guests feeling comfortable during treatments. Appropriate draping practices are always observed. We suggest you wear only your robe and slippers. However, if you would feel more comfortable, undergarments may be worn. May I talk to the staff? Yes, but, please speak softly. If you do not want staff to talk to you, then request silence. If you continue to talk to the staff they will assume that you wish them to talk to you. 5. Are Children allowed in the spa/salon? Salon and spa clients are not allowed to bring children less than ten years of age in the spa or salon, unless the child has a hair service booked. Out of respect for other clients please secure childcare for small children prior to your service. 6. What should I wear? The Spa provides robes, spa sandals and a locker for your personal belongings. We highly recommend that you DO NOT bring valuables like expensive jewelry with you to the spa. Swimsuits (optional) may be worn in the spa tubs, for wet treatments, or in the steam rooms. 7. Are gift certificates nonrefundable? Yes. However, they may be exchanged for other services or products with prior notice. Gift Certificates purchased by the package may be converted to a dollar amount. 8. Is the Spa for me if I'm pregnant? Yes, though you should avoid using deep heat or pressure. We would like to recommend our Maternity Massage available during the second and third trimesters with a doctor’s release. Please inquire about appropriate facials and body treatments. 9. Is tipping appropriate? Yes. A general guideline would be between 10 and 20%. Can I use my cell phone? Santa Fe Day Spa/Salon is a cell phone free zone. To preserve the Spa’s tranquil environment, please turn cell phones and pagers to silent while in the spa.

Cancellations: What if I need to cancel my appointment? We require a minimum of a 24-hour notice for all single services.

Spa Packages require a 48-hour cancellation. A two week cancellation on multiple packages and spa parties is required. Reservations cancelled without proper notice and no-shows will be billed 100% of the full service booked. Our staff is scheduled and paid according to services booked. We attempt to send out confirmations, however clients are responsible for their booked appointments.
