Main event 8-9th Oct Courses week 10-14th Oct Assessments 15-16th Oct The 9th Sea Kayaking Cornwall symposium will be a great opportunity to attend a variety of courses, try out equipment and to explore the beautiful Cornish coastline in the company of other paddlers. On the Saturday and Sunday you can book into a variety of classes and journeys. The Symposium is based at Tregedna Farm just outside Falmouth. There is top quality bunk house accommodation or camping available. We will have a bring your own food BBQ on the Saturday evening. We will supply the coals so just bring something to cook to replace the energy from the days paddling. There will be on site catering available for breakfasts and lunches throughout the weekend and week at reasonable prices. We will have presentations every night starting Friday evening at 20:30 and every night after at 19:30. Kayak hire is available for £50 for the weekend and £100 for the following week, but book early as there are limited numbers available.

Where and when to meet. Registration will start at 16:00 on the Friday at Tregedna Farm. We will then meet at 9am on the Saturday morning to go through the days plans. Tregedna Farm is 500 meters before Maenporth Beach which is less than two miles south of Falmouth. Follow signs to Falmouth which will take you passed ASDA. Continue on until a large roundabout with cannons on. Take the second exit towards Maenporth Beach. Continue straight across the next roundabout. This road will then take you all of the way to Maenporth beach, approx two miles. Tregedna farm is on the right before you get to Meanporth beach. If you are arriving late you can register any time upstairs in the Bunkhouse. There will also be a list of names for the self catering option.

Symposium 2016 Self catering bunkhouse Sleep in a real bed in the bunkhouse at Tregedna Farm on the Friday and Saturday nights £50.
Camping Pitch your tent in the campsite on the Friday and Saturday nights - £20.
10-14th Oct Week of discounted courses During the week following the symposium, we are offering some of our 5 day courses at discounted prices.
Intermediate Sea kayaking Price: £389 reduced to £295 This is our most comprehensive learning experience. You will work closely with us on the water as we develop every aspect of your sea kayaking skills. We will look at navigation on and off the water to help you plan your own day and weekend trips. During the week we will look out for the best areas to help you develop your confidence in rough water and boat handling skills. We will teach you how to land and take off safely in small surf. There will be the opportunity to practice rolling in a local swimming pool during one evening. All the time that you are learning we will choose the best locations around to allow you to see what Cornwall has to offer.
Advanced Sea kayaking Price: £389 reduced to £295 This is a course for kayakers wanting to get out in some conditions to develop skills rescues and leadership. There will be the chance to get into surf , rocks, tide and wind to experience a variety of conditions and environments

Symposium 2016 This course is aimed towards trainee or established leaders/guides who wish to deepen their knowledge and experience of group control and incident management or anyone else who may be interested in being an asset to the group when incidents occur and things have started to go wrong. Any group or individual is only as strong as their weakest link. Do you know yours? Are you fully prepared for that first incident? Have you pressure tested your group skills and procedures in a variety of different environments or situations? This 5 day course is designed to teach you skills and procedures that will help you to develop a practical and theoretical understanding of how to lead a group through a crisis situation at sea. Day 1 & 2: Getting the basics right, group control and leadership, developing a logical thought process which works under pressure

5 Day Trips (Advanced) £295 5 days of day trips around the Cornish peninsular aimed at advanced paddlers. We will pick off the best trips each day making the most of the forecast. Lands end, Lizard point, Helford passage, Carrick roads, Roseland, Falmouth bay, St Ives, St Michaels mount and the north coast are all amazing paddles and we will do our best to maximize your time in the South West
BCU 5 Star Sea Kayak Leader Training
