Lunch & Learn: Professional Development Series 2014-2015 The CU Denver Center for Faculty Development (CFD), the Office of Research Development and Education and CU Online are pleased to sponsor the 2014-2015 Lunch & Learn series that provides faculty the opportunity to meet and network with their colleagues across campus and learn about resources to support and enhance teaching, research funding and creative activities while enjoying lunch. As research in the field of “Positive Psychology” matures, there are many indicators of what can be done to improve the classroom experience for students and faculty. Bethann Bier will discuss the newest findings and discuss how one might use this information to shape a syllabus, develop assessments and create classroom activities. Have you ever wanted to capture cursor movement, typing or other on-screen activities for your students? Are you interested in providing online lectures for content review or as part of an online course? Lecture capture enhances and extends existing instructional activities, whether face-to-face, fully online, or blended learning environments. Come learn about best practices for lecture capture and tools to make it work! With a rising number of students accessing and completing coursework through mobile applications on devices such as smartphones and tablets, it is important that accessing your course through a mobile application is as engaging and effective as accessing your course from a computer. The Library in Your Course: Integration of the Research Process in your Curriculum

Lorrie Evans, Auraria Library will bring library resources, services and people into your course. We all know that research is a process that involves critical thinking and engagement with information over time. While well intentioned, the term paper assignment can often fall short of providing the learning experience we had hoped for. We will explore the many and varied options you have to incorporate "library research" more intuitively, through services such as the Integrated Course Librarian, embedded IM chat widget, and collaboration with a librarian on search assignments.
