The road was a challenge. Serving as the unifying factor of Roman civilization, it was built to link the power of Rome with the ends of the earth. Its construction was not without failure or di's appointment. Only after a period of trial and error did the Romans perfect the technique to secure the road's endurance. It bears the burden of centuries of travellers ... centuries of the Aged pursued by their past and the Youth pursuing their future.
