Hands-on experience will expose participants to the care and handling of flexible and rigid cystoscopes and techniques for performing bladder biopsy and stent removal. The goal of preoperative education is to adequately prepare patients and their families for surgery and improve postoperative outcomes.

GEN/OPT/OFC 133: A Multimodal Approach to Urologic Dysfunction and Pelvic Pain 1 contact hour Emily Dove-Medows, MSN, CNM Current treatment methods for urologic dysfunction or pelvic pain are often focused on only one aspect of care, for example, the bladder epithelium or vaginal tissue. While these methods can provide some relief, it is when they are performed in conjunction with an array of other treatment modalities that we have found both increased patient satisfaction and symptom improvement. This presentation will include a discussion about many different therapies including medications, trigger point injections, and topical treatments.

Amy Hull, MSN, WHNP-BC The cause of pelvic floor disorders is often multifactorial, requiring a multidisciplinary approach. This lecture will touch on one aspect of dysfunction, estrogen deprivation. Discussion will be targeted at informing the participant on the role of estrogen loss and estrogen therapy options available to minimize the consequences of pelvic floor disorders.

Since then, great strides in robotic urologic surgery have been attained. This presentation will discuss robotic partial and total nephrectomy, and robotic adrenalectomy surgery.

During this interactive session, we will discuss the different types of incontinence, patient evaluation, and treatment options available. Urinary incontinence is not life threatening, it is life-style threatening.

Priapism can occur from injections related to other causes. This lecture will provide an overview about injection therapy, treatment of priapism with case studies on treating priapism.

Brahmbhatt, MD Testicular, scrotal and groin pain are common presenting symptoms in men. The incidence of chronic testicular and groin pain can be high as 100,000 men. It can be both acute and chronic in onset. The anatomy and embryology of the testicles and the most common causes of testicular pain with a focus on chronic etiologies will be presented. An algorithm for diagnosis and management options will be reviewed. Medical and surgical management including robotic microsurgical procedures and tools such as targeted denervation of the spermatic cord, vasovasostomy, vasoepididymostomy and varicocelectomy will also be covered.

This course will review the factors that create a favorable environment for crystal formation and teach you how to interrupt that cycle. There will be discussion on troubleshooting strategies based on the most common patient issues. Basic programming parameters and how changes can affect stimulation will be presented, as well as real case scenarios. Hands-on techniques will also be demonstrated.

Infectious, inflammatory, and viral dermatologic conditions will be discussed. In situ squamous cell cancer, invasive squamous cell cancer and non-squamous malignancies, such as sarcoma, melanoma and lymphoma, will be reviewed.

Application to clinical practice will be included, with review of indications, adverse affects and prescribing recommendations for advanced practice. A general review of antibiotic resistance will be presented.

SUNA’s Core Curriculum for Urologic Nursing will provide urologic nurses with a wealth of information, knowledge, and resources to help them provide optimal urologic health care. Content will include chapters on “Urologic Nursing Tends Affecting Practice” and “Urologic Health Promotion.” A section devoted to Anatomy and Physiology of the Urinary Tract will feature chapters on “Anatomy & Physiology of the Urinary Tract in Infants and Children” and “Anatomy & Physiology of the Lower Urinary Tract in Adults.” Watch for publication release information in the UroGram and eNews as well as the website at www.suna.org.

Silent Auction will be held November 1, 2014, in the Exhibit Hall 9:30 am-11:00 am and 2:45 pm-4:15 pm Winning bids will be posted in the registration area. Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida To further its commitment to excellence in urologic clinical practice and research, the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates formed the SUNA Foundation. The Foundation funds research projects related to urologic disease or treatment and awards scholarships for advanced education or specialized training for SUNA members. As SUNA members explore new research ideas, further their nursing education, and advance urologic care and treatment, patients will ultimately benefit from this expanded knowledge and expertise.
