Logitech Media Server Introduction Logitech Media Server (LMS) is a streaming audio server supported by Logitech (formerly Slim Devices), developed initially to support their Squeezebox range of digital audio receivers. It also can run on Windows and Apple computers and on media servers such as the Antipodes range of servers. LMS consists of two separate components on the Antipodes server. They are: 1. Squeezebox Server: this is the component that you use to manage your music library and playlists and control the playing of music. 2. Squeezelite: this component plays the music, and provides an interface between Squeezebox Server and your audio system. LMS can be controlled through a graphical interface on a Windows or Apple browser or through a remote device such as an iPad, iPhone or Android pad or smartphone device.

How to Install Logitech Media Server LMS is a an optional application on the Antipodes server. If you want to use it you must install the two application components Squeezebox Server and Squeezelite. To install LMS go to the 'Apps' tab on the Antipodes GUI screen and then click the 'Avaliable Apps' tab:

Select 'Software Manager' and then 'Available Apps':

Select 'Squeezelite' followed by 'Install', and then do the same for 'Squeezebox Server'. After you have completed these steps click the 'Installed Apps' tab and check that both are shown on the screen:

How to set up Squeezelite Squeezelite communicates with your DAC via USB or SPDIF connections or directly with the preamp/amplifiers via the Analog Out connections. You must allocate a 'Player' name to the audio device that you will use to play music. On the Antipodes GUI screen go to 'Settings' and then click the 'Squeezelite' tab. Enter a meaningful name alongside 'Player Name' but leave the other lines blank (audio device):

Select the 'Enable DSD-over-PCM' option if your DAC supports DSD playback. Then click 'Save Changes'.

How to run Logitech Media Server Start Squeezelite In the Antipodes GUI screen go to 'Apps' and select 'Audio App Switcher':

Then click the 'Squeezelite' button to start it. The 'Active' symbol will display when it has started.

A new window will open in your browser; this is the Logitech Media Server control screen through which you use to select music to play:

At the top right hand corner of the screen you will see the name you previously gave to the Squeezelite player, in this example 'Antipodes_USB'. If the name does not show there click the downward arrow and select it from the displayed list. Using Squeezebox Server The pane at the left of the screen, headed 'Home' is where you select the source of the music you want to play. You can select from 'My Music', 'Radio' or 'My Apps'. The pane on the right hand side will display the music you have selected to play My Music This is the music in your music library. It consists of music tracks stored on the Antipodes hard disk from ripped CDs and tracks imported from your PC, on network-connected NAS drives, or on other shared devices in your home network. You have a wide range of selection choices available, from 'Artists' or 'Albums' to 'Playlists' that you have compiled and stored and random mixes of tracks from your music library:

My Apps In 'My Apps' you can select streaming services to which you are subscribed such as Spotify, Pandora, Rhapsody, Qobuz, and Deezer. You need to have a 'mysqueezebox.com’ login to register for some of these streaming services. Here is an example of how to setup TIDAL streaming:

1. Go to Squeezebox Server Settings/Plugins and check that the TIDAL plugin has an 'Enabled' tick.

If not there look under 'Inactive plugins' or 'Recommended 3rd.Party Plugins', tick the 'Enabled' box and the 'Apply'. 2. Go to Squeezebox Server Settings/mysqueezebox.com, check that you have an account, or create a new one.

3. Log in to your mysqueezebox.com account, click the 'App Gallery' tab, select TIDAL and click 'Install App'.

4. Click 'Configure' and enter your TIDAL credentials (email id and password).

5. Go to the Squeezebox Server screen, click 'My Apps' and you should find that TIDAL has been added to the list of apps.

6. Click the TIDAL icon to start using TIDAL.

The controls at the top of the 'playlist' pane allow you to play or pause the music. To clear the 'playlist' pane click the

icon at the bottom right of the screen.

Logitech Media Server 'Settings' At the bottom right hand side of the Squeezebox Server control screen is a icon. You use this to control various settings for Squeezelite and Squeezebox Server. When you click this icon a new window will open on your browser. Most of the settings have already been set to the commonly used options. However you may wish to make changes as you become familiar with Logitech Media Server and its options.

Basic Settings

This window shows the folders in your music library. '/storage/music/flac' is the folder on the hard drive of the Antipodes server where music is stored. 'storage/nas' denotes a folder on a network-xconnected NAS drive. LMS uses the Media Folders to construct a cache of the music and associated metadata. When new music is added to the library, by ripping CDs, copying music from other sources, or adding new NAS drives to the home network, details of the new music are automatically scanned into the cache. You can initiate a scan for new music by clicking on the 'Rescan' button at 'Rescan Media Library':

If you then click the line 'Scanning - View Progress' the 'Settings/Information' screen will be opened and you can view progress of the rescanning operation:

My Music The 'My Music' screen let you customise various browse and play settings :

mysqueezebox.com Use this screen to register a login account at http://mysqueezebox.com. You can then register from streaming services in the App Gallery at mysqueezebox.com:

Interface Use this screen to customise the way some of the album, artist and track data is displayed in Logitech Media Server.

We recommend you leave the first setting 'Web Interface' set to 'Default.

Plugins There is a wide range of plugins available for Squeezebox Server. Some have already been enabled and can be used, others have been enabled but will require payment of a subscription to the developer to activate, and there are many inactive and 3rd-party plugins that you can optionally decide to enable and use.

Advanced The 'Advanced' tab allows the user to control a number of additional, advanced settings. It is recommended that you only change these settings if you are comfortable working with advanced features of Logitech Media Server.
