Loch Sport Link April - May 2012 Gold Coin Donation LOCH SPORT GOLF CLUB Victorian Sandgreens Championship The Loch Sport Golf Club is gearing up in readiness for the Victorian Sandgreens Championships to be held over 3 days on 6th, 7th and 8th July this year at Loch Sport. This is a State Title event and attracts the cream of Victoria’s amateur golfers along with 120-plus keen players from all over the state and beyond. It is expected that more than 120 golfers and their families will head to Loch Sport over that period. The Loch Sport Golf Club members are very busy getting the course into pristine condition for this major event. Deputy Premier, Peter Ryan will attend for the presentation on Sunday 8th July 2012. The Loch Sport Golf course is unique in that it is surrounded by hundreds of native grass trees, orchids and other indigenous plants. There is also the

local wildlife who have taken up residence at the course and at each turn you are likely to have an audience of 20-30 kangaroos. During the Championships there will be a hole in one competition and the Club is seeking expressions of interest for contributions towards prizes for the winners. The Championships will have media coverage and Loch Sport will have the opportunity to showcase the township and socialise with the visitors to our community. These Championships are important to the township and local businesses and it is hoped that support will be forthcoming by way of sponsorship and physical support from other clubs and organisations in Loch Sport. LOCH SPORT COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVE Cheaper Electricity For Residents of Loch Sport & District The Loch Sport Community Representative Group (CRG) have taken on the challenge to contact residents in the Loch Sport area with a view to getting a better deal on our electricity costs. We will be seeking a grant through Local and State Government to assist in the costs of sending letters to residents informing them fully of our plans. Many municipalities have already taken up this challenge and one town, Somers, which was presented on TV, have gained savings of between $100-$600 per year per household. The CRG intend to negotiate with the 12 electricity providers who supply Victoria or the organisation who bargains with these electricity companies on your behalf for getting better deals for electricity users. For this to occur we need as many people as possible to register their interest. The bigger the support we get the better the bargaining power we will

have. If you are interested contact the CRG by mail at PO Box 129, Loch Sport, 3851 or on email to The Chairman, Bill Klien - [email protected]. You are not obligated to accept this deal or change your provider if you do not wish to do so and those on contracts may not wish to participate. However, there is power in numbers and we are hoping for a positive outcome to achieve huge savings on our electricity accounts. There will be no cost to you but we need your support and participation if we are to achieve success. Other municipalities have already had success in gaining cheaper power for their residents so why can’t we. For further information contact Loch Sport CRG PO Box 129 Loch Sport 3851 or email [email protected]. Bill Klein Chairman Loch Sport CRG
