Ivanna katenka hosted her monthly wine-tasting party at her home in the little town of Gladerock. The usual guests arrived in style, ready to relax with some fine wines and great company. The guests enjoyed a delicious cheese tray as they tasted wines from a selected region. They mingled with challenging wine trivia and caught up on last month’s juicy gossip before engaging in a hilarious game of ‘what wine related thing am I?” With the exception of a couple of skirmishes between guests harboring tainted pasts together, everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner mixed with an amusing wine-related movie scramble challenge. And then, to everyone’s horror…a body was discovered in the adjacent room! The guests quickly organized a murder investigation, examined the evidence and interrogated everyone in the room. To prevent a cold blooded killer from walking the streets, nobody was allowed to leave until they solved whodunit! Over dessert and dessert wines, each guest accused who they believed was the murderer and to everyone’s shock - the murderer confessed! After an exciting escape attempt, the guests re-grouped and capped off the night with a brilliant game of winery charades. Everyone unanimously agreed…Ivanna’s wine-tasting was certainly to die for this month!

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

COSTUME SUGGESTIONS

Ivanna Katenka is the ultra-mysterious airport security clerk. Far from a femme fatale, she is feared by most and has an intense anger management problem. She is the somewhat tolerable neighbor of Gretchen Audigger.

Any type of uniform-like costume (i.e. a white shirt and black pants with a fake arm band or badge.)

Gretchen Audigger is a former barista from the local coffee shop in the tiny town of Gladerock. After meeting her wealthy fiancé 2 years ago, she’s become the town’s ultra-glamorous pampered princess. Her prior sugary sweet disposition has melted into a foul, ill-mannered spirit recently. Nonetheless, Gretchen is anything but boring.

Semi-formal cocktail party attire. *A mandatory costume jewelry necklace with any type of sizeable fake ‘stone’ is to be worn.

Originally hailing from Eastern Europe, Inga Federov is the town of Gladerock’s personal trainer and serious fitness guru. If you need advice on exercise, diet or overall fitness…she’s your girl! Just don’t let her overly-friendly and fake persona get to you as she does have overall good intentions.

Any type of warmup suit or athletic attire.

Dr. Indy Jonas is the arrogant, over-exaggerating Ancient History professor at Gladerock College. Dr. Jonas can win you over with a little Australian charm, but don’t be fooled; Dr. Jonas cares about one thing and one thing only…Dr. Jonas.

An archeologist / rugged explorer costume.

The Italian heart-breaker - Micha Angelo - is the charismatic yet eccentric artist. Micha sometimes sings instead of speaks and quickly blames the outburst of song on his/her inner artist.

Very trendy attire. A beret and sketch pad as optional props.

This French Canadian, Billie Benjamins, recently moved to the tiny town of Gladerock. Nobody truly knows Billie’s intentions, but s/he is supposedly a professional fund raiser from a big city. Some of the locals believe s/he is hiding something.

Conservative suit and tie (for a male).

Details, details, details! If you’re speaking to Poindex Boinkerton, you better get ready for a plethora of intricate fine points and facts! This is one over-explaining member of the Nerd Herd - a computer support team in Gladerock - that’s always ready to travel to your home to remedy your technological ailments!

Nerdy attire. The nerdy-er, the better! Glasses with tape on the bridge & a protractor and calculator as optional props.

Originally hailing from the UK, Dorie Laxx traveled to America to implement her dream of owning a luxurious Day Spa. She’s a tad snooty and a bit of a one-upper but this relaxation Queen really knows how to make her customers feel like royalty!

Very casual attire a terry robe & slippers or a terry warm up suit and slippers.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE HOST Thank you for purchasing ‘Fine Wine, Good Friends and a Wicked Murder’ game from mymysteryparty.com! This mystery is a light-hearted and fun game that allows you and your guests to step into a different character while trying to solve the slightly challenging mystery. The party can be a huge success as long as you and your guests relax and let the mystery unravel during each round.

Full game instructions in the purchased game. You will need to gather & PREPARE the following items in advance of the game: •

• •

• • • •

Make certain that the character - Gretchen Audigger - will be wearing a costume jewelry necklace that has a fake stone of any kind that’s somewhat sizeable (to be ‘somewhat’ believable as an ancient artifact). If you don’t have anything and don’t wish to purchase anything or if she forgets about it…this can be made out of yarn /thread and any pebble / rock. The printed clues for each round (by printing this document, you will have these). Envelopes for the round clues for each character / each round. It is easiest if the envelopes are in separate colors for each round. As an alternative, you can also opt to ‘scroll’ the clues and secure with a ribbon (make sure to label them) or you can simply hand the clues to the guests at the beginning of each round. (For continuity, in the instructions, we will refer to the clue cards being slipped into envelopes.) OPTIONAL: the cut out squares for the ‘What Wine-Related Thing am I’ game (page 10) with tape affixed to the back of the squares. OPTIONAL: the ‘Movie Scramble Challenge’ sheets for each team (page 17+; by printing this document, you will have these). A pen/ pencil for each guest. The victim sign (page 22).

instructions in the purchased game.

The victim is disclosed through the victim’s clue card in Round Two. The murderer is disclosed through the murderer’s solution card in Round Three. If you do not want to know the solution, do not view the cards in either of these rounds. For a complete surprise, you can elect the pre-printed ‘party ready’ party pack option from the mymysteryparty.com site and we will send you the clues in sealed envelopes –‘ready to go’ (this is an additional charge). The rounds are designed as follows:

PRE-GAME STARTERS: these pre-game starters are to be delivered to each guest that has RSVPd about a week before the party or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game starters are optional and do not alter the mystery, and are intended to enhance the pre-game build up for the event. You will need to include your guests’ contact information on these starters before sending them to your guests if you elect to send them via mail 1 week before the party. These pre-game tasks are not vital to solving the mystery. The following is a suggestion on how to host your mystery, but it is only a suggestion, it can be played in any way that you prefer. WINE-TASTING HOUR / ROUND ONE: Deliver these clues as your guests arrive. The wine-tasting begins and the guests are to mingle about and taste wines at the various wine stations. Make sure the ‘Guest Instructions’ and the ‘List of Characters’ and the wine-ictionary are available for your guests to read when they arrive. Also, be sure to place the wine tasting score sheets at each station (optional) so you can determine the best tasting wine at the end of the night. DINNER HOUR / ROUND TWO: Deliver these clues while you serve dinner (optional) to your guests. DESSERT, COFFEE AND SOLUTIONS: Deliver these clues with coffee (or dessert wine) and dessert. *IMPORANT INFORMATION REGARDING CHARACTER ASSIGNMENTS:

During the party, you will be handed an envelope that contains the clues necessary for your character for the round. The clues will provide everything that you will need to solve the mystery.
